Chapter Seventy-Eight: Tranquility and Warmth
In a rare collective silence, the opening dinner ended, and everyone was basked with the shocking news that the Dementors were stationed at Hogwarts.
As we all know, Dementors are one of the most evil creatures known to date, haunting the darkest and dirtiest places in droves, cheering corruption and despair, draining all the peace, hope, and joy in the air around them.
Get too close to a Dementor and any good feelings, any happy memories you may have, will be sucked out by it.
If it does, it will live on you for a long time, and end up making you like it, soulless and evil, leaving you with only the worst memories of your life.
These terrifying creatures have long served as guards in the wizarding prison of Azkaban, guarding the most evil dark wizards in the wizarding world.
But now they're at Hogwarts, what does that mean?
Everyone seemed to perceive something, but no one wanted to dwell on it.
Everyone returned to their common room in silence, no one spoke, but Evan heard a lot of subtle discussions, the names of Dementors, Azkaban, Sirius Black, and Harry Potter were repeatedly mentioned, I don't know if it was an illusion, he found that many people, especially students from wizarding families, subconsciously stayed away from Harry, they must have heard something from their parents.
Thirteen years ago, Sirius Black's reason for his capture was no secret, but no one wanted to mention it.
This oppressive atmosphere was very uncomfortable for Aven, and the lack of understanding of the Dementors was not a good idea to spread the word and let the panic continue to spread. He hesitated for a moment, seeing that it was still early, and decided to strike while the iron was hot, and write a few articles about the Dementors while all the young wizards were still interested.
He spoke to Colin and turned around to look up the library directly.
Inside the library, Mrs. Pince, the caretaker, looked at Evan with suspicion, she clearly had an impression of the child.
Last semester, in just one year, this student has almost gone through the entire library, from the simplest introductory spells to advanced forbidden magic, most of which is not something that a child of this age should master.
Mrs. Pince shook her head, thinking that when she was in her second grade, she couldn't do anything but make her wand shine, and this kid
She remembered the Headmaster's reaction when she told Dumbledore about it.
Dumbledore calmly told her that she didn't care about it, and that he even allowed the child to check out the books in the forbidden area, which was simply incredible.
In Mrs. Pince's opinion, Dumbledore must have been old and confused.
It wouldn't be surprising if this kid became a dark wizard in the future. Take a look at the books he's looking for this time, they're all about Dementors.
Seeing the name of this evil creature, Mrs. Pince unconsciously shuddered, this is really terrifying, what normal second grader would come to find the books of this dark creature on the first day of school?!
Evan didn't know that his image in the eyes of Mrs. Pince had been equated with the Dark Wizard.
When he returned to the common room with a dozen heavy magic books in his arms, he found that everyone but Hermione had gone back to their bedrooms to sleep.
"You're back!" Hermione said as she looked up at Aven and pointed to the steaming cup in front of her, "I heard from Colin that you went to the library to look up information on Dementors, so I decided to wait for you for a while, here's the hot chocolate I got for you!"
"Thank you!" Evan gratefully picked up the cup and took two sips, it felt good, after a hard night in the library, someone came back for him
Before he could swallow the second bite, he immediately spit it out, with a painful expression on his face, this cup of hot chocolate actually didn't have sugar, and the taste was too bitter.
As if anticipating this reaction from Aven, Hermione grinned, "This thing is great for a pick-me-up when I need to hit the energy!"
She had the same cup in front of her, half of which had already been drunk.
Evan forced himself to take another sip, his stomach churning, but he did concentrate a lot, and he saw Hermione repeatedly marking the time on a piece of parchment, and asked a little strangely, "Hermione, what are you doing?"
"Organize my class schedule. You know, I've had a bit of a lot of classes this semester, and I'm scared."
By the light of the fire, Aven saw Hermione's full schedule.
If he hadn't known that Hermione had a time turner, he would have thought she had messed up her schedule.
For example, tomorrow morning at nine o'clock she was going to a divination class, and at the same time, she was going to Muggle studies.
"You've almost filled all your time!" said Evan worriedly, "Don't be stupid, Hermione! you can't take so many classes at the same time, even with the help of a time turner." In the long run, your body will not be able to resist it. ”
"Oh, yes, you know it, after all, you used this thing last year. Hermione pulled out a pocket watch-like item from inside her clothes, "Don't worry about me, Aven, I've already talked to Professor McGonagall!"
"Don't think I don't know what you're going to do, you do think about everything, but you ignore your own physical condition. Evan said hurriedly, "Hermione, you're not a ghost, you can't sleep twenty-four hours a day. If you want me to see, there are some courses that you don't have to take at all. For example, there is overlap between divination and arithmetic divination classes, and Muggle studies are completely useless to you. ”
"But studying them from the perspective of the wizarding world would be fascinating. Hermione looked at Evan with a sincere expression.
"Listen to me, you have to give up a few doors"
"No, I'd like to give it a try!" Hermione insisted, "You know, we're all Muggle-born wizards, and I want to prove that I'm no worse than the others." ”
"You don't have to prove anything, you're already the best!"
"It's not enough, Percy got twelve O.W.L.S certificates last year, and, compared to you, I'm still talking lower and lower than you."
The atmosphere suddenly fell silent, and neither of the two men spoke.
Crookshan, combing his hair in front of the fireplace, squealed twice comfortably, and looked at the two men strangely.
"Well, since you insist. After a long time, Evan sighed, "But you have to promise me that you must do what you can, okay?"
Hermione blushed and nodded, feeling that the atmosphere was a little wrong, and how did Aven's words sound
She hurriedly pointed to the books that Evan had brought back and said, "Well, did you find a book about Dementors?"
"I don't miss a book, all the information about Dementors in the library is here, and it's more than enough to open a Dementor feature in the newspaper, are you ready to help?"
"Of course!" Hermione nodded.
The silver-white moonlight crept in, and the fire burned quietly.
Contrary to the horror and despair of the Dementors gliding by from time to time outside the school, the Gryffindor common room was peaceful and peaceful.
Together, Evan and Hermione studied the Dementors' habits, survival, attacks, and their dark history, as well as how to defeat them.
"The spell to ward off the Dementors is the Patronus Charm, and using this spell requires concentration, thinking about the happiest things in your heart, and chanting the Guardian of the Gods!"
Hermione pointed to the contents of the book and said softly, "When this spell is fully functional, it can summon a complete Patronus, and everyone's Patronus is different, because it is a symbol that embodies the heart. ”
Hermione read the phrase "symbol of the heart" twice, looked up and said uncertainly, "Aven, I remember that you were on the train, and the patronus you summoned was"
"Don't think about it, Hermione!" Aven's eyes couldn't help but fall on Crookshan, who was already sleeping by the fireplace, and stared at it for a long time before slowly explaining with a flushed face, "It must be a coincidence, it's just about the same!"
"Really?" Hermione narrowed her eyes, a little unsure when she heard Evan say that.
The atmosphere in the carriage was so dark that Aven's Patronus flashed by again, and Hermione wasn't sure if she could see it clearly, maybe it was really just a coincidence!
