The comeback 640 is useless proof

After a heated argument, the Grammys finally made a decision that Glory to Death was alternative music, but would not compete in the rock department.

In the end, the glorious "Near Fame" was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album, and the band also relied on the album's outstanding performance to be nominated for Best Newcomer of the Year. Although there are only these two nominations, they are full of weight, and it can be seen that the Grammys still attach great importance to glory to death.

On top of the Grammys, there are several major music style departments, pop department, rock department, dance music department, rhythm and blues department, hip-hop department, country department, etc., among them, alternative music is also a separate department, although the media generally believes that it is a division under rock and roll, but in fact, it is a parallel style classification, which is why the so-called "alternative" has caused so much controversy. However, there is only one award in the alternative music department, and that is the award for the best alternative music album, which is why it will cause misunderstanding among many media.

In addition to the major departments, the Grammys also have four comprehensive awards, namely the Best Album of the Year Award, the Best Production Award of the Year, the Best Single Award of the Year, and the Best Newcomer of the Year Award.

The fact that Honor to Death was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album and Best Newcomer of the Year shows how much the Grammys value them.

But I don't buy this nomination to death, take a look at the other four nominations for Best Alternative Music Album, which are U2, Nirvana, Fast Eyeballs, and Pumpkins. Of the five nominees, only Honor to Death and Pumpkin Crush are truly alternative music.

If the grunge rock of Nirvana can still be fooled with "this is a new music genre that only emerged in 1991......", then the band U2 and the band Eyeball, two bands that have been galloping in the music scene for more than ten years and have already torn off the so-called "alternative" label and become the backbone of the rock market, are completely unspeakable.

Moreover, the music of U2 and Quick Eye Band has not only been recognized by the market for album sales, but their music style itself has also merged with the entire rock trend and gradually commercialized in the market, so it is not valid from any point of view to call them "alternative".

What does this mean? It shows that the Grammys still haven't figured out the definition of "alternative", which means that they haven't recognized the contributions and achievements of the Glory to Death and Pumpkin Crush in the music market in 1993, which can definitely be said to be an insult.

And interestingly, the crushed pumpkin was also nominated for Best Hard Rock Performance, the Band of Fast Eyes was also nominated for Best Pop Singing Performance, and the U2 band was also nominated for Best Rock Song, which is even more ironic, "alternative music" was nominated in the pop and rock department of the mainstream market, which is considered by the Grammys, and this paradoxical behavior is only considered "normal" by the Grammys themselves.

As for the list of nominees for the best newcomer of the year, it is another joke of the Grammys. Alternative rock, grunge-style indie band Blind Melon, gospel group bel canto girls (SWV), alternative rock band Belly (Belly), rhythm and blues strong newcomer Donnie Breston, and finally the alternative rock band glory to death These five groups of singers make up the list of nominees for the best newcomer of the year.

Among them, the Glory to Death Guts Band and the Blind Melon Band are all representatives of alternative music, which obviously affirms that the American music market in l993 is different because of the existence of alternative rock, but in the list of nominees for the best alternative music album, mainstream bands such as U2, Fast Eyes, and Nirvana are selected, but even five nominations cannot be filled, which can definitely be called the pinnacle of "left-right fighting".

As the Glory to the Death team put it, what is the point of this nomination if the Grammys themselves can't tell what the criteria for judging "alternative" are? Even if you win, you don't have any authority!

Of course, this is only a view of the alternative music sector, which shows that the struggle and hesitation of the Grammys to find a balance between commerciality and artistry completely exploded after more than ten years of gestation.

For now, the reason why the Grammys can be called authoritative is definitely deserved, except for other mainstream departments other than alternative music, all the nominations once again demonstrate the strong appeal and authority of the Grammys, Whitney and Houston's "Bodyguard" movie soundtrack is undoubtedly the biggest winner in the nomination stage, and the nominations for heavyweight awards such as Album of the Year, Best Production Zuò of the Year, and Best Female Pop Singer have pushed the diva's career to a whole new level.

As for the rock department, Aerosmith has won nominations for Best Rock Song, Best Rock Album, Best Rock Band, Best Rock Performance and other awards. On the contrary, the Nirvana and Pearl Sauce bands, which have flourished in the American market in the past two years, have still not been able to knock on the door of the Grammys' conservative judges, and old rock forces such as Sting, Bob and Dylan, and AC/DC are still Grammy darlings, which also coincides with the chaos and struggles of the alternative music department.

Putting aside the professional controversy, just saying that the Grammys gave Glory to Death two important nominations, which shows that the Grammys are still very concerned about the ups and downs of the entire rock music in 1993, although they did not greatly reward the large number of alternative rock forces, but with the Glory to Death and the Pumpkin Band as a model for praise, it can still be observed that the Grammys "keep pace with the times".

Glory to death was nominated for Best Newcomer of the Year at the Grammys, and Hugo won his second acting double nomination at the Golden Globes, which was a new peak of Hugo's glory in 1993, and when the list of nominations for the Grammys and Golden Globes really appeared, Hugo's momentum reached its peak.

However, Hugo didn't have the heart to care about these nominees at this time, he had to spend more energy on the "vulgar" shooting, now the "vulgar" filming has entered the second half, almost every day the crew's scenes are very tight, the shooting starts at dawn, and the work is finished before dark, and the whole rhythm is maintained very well, so he must devote himself to ensure that he will not delay the progress of the crew.

It must be admitted that "vulgar" is currently the easiest scene for Hugo to shoot, not a problem with the theme of the movie, but because of the acting method, this time the role performance, Hugo's self-control zhì occupies a larger part, and Vincent's part of the role only occupies a small part, so Hugo is very comfortable in and out of the play, and the burden on his shoulders is relatively much easier.

However, this does not mean that Hugo is not committed enough, on the contrary, Hugo has injected many characteristics into the character of Vincent, at least it is far from the version of John Travofta in his mind, it is just a difference in the way he performs.

After the three works of "The Heroes of the Righteous Sea", "Sleepless in Seattle", and "Schindler's List", each of which is more deeply troubled by the play, Hugo is now working in the other extreme direction, and when Hugo can accurately grasp the balance between himself and the role, his acting skills will be on a higher level.

After a long day of filming, Satsuma drove Hugo home, and he asked curiously, "Hugo, is the band really not attending the Grammys?"

Hugo sat in his position and rubbed his stiff shoulders, "It should be, we had a brief conversation on the phone, and we reached a preliminary consensus and decided not to attend." Although the Grammys finally "justified" the glory to death, nominating the band for best alternative music album and also nominating for Best Newcomer of the Year, Hugo still believes that the vague definition of the Grammys is a disdain for the band's style, and he does not think it is necessary for the band to appear on such a gala.

In fact, Glory to Death has always been like this, from the first road tour to the later Junjie Music Festival, Glory to Death has always adhered to its own rock spirit, so there is no need for them to compromise for the sake of the Grammys.

"However, we will definitely meet once and discuss the specific situation." Hugo said casually, and he also talked to Forquin on the phone, and he had only heard about the situation of Neil, Alfonso and Pedro, and the band would definitely have to discuss it face-to-face, and it was estimated that Henry would also be present before making a final decision. From Hugo's point of view, though, there's nothing worth discussing.

Samora was amazed as she drove the car, "I guess the Grammys will regret it if they find out." ”

Hugo chuckled, "No, they definitely won't, there are countless people who want to participate in the Grammys, and it's nothing without a band of ours." You see, even if the Nirvana band never attended the Grammys, they didn't see any regrets from the Grammys. ”

"However, if you miss this time, you will never be able to compete for the Best Newcomer of the Year award in the future, won't you regret it?" Samora asked curiously.

Hugo pursed his lips, "It's definitely false to say that he doesn't regret it, Pepe also told me that day that if he wins the best newcomer of the year, he will smash the bass on the stage." I also imagined that if I won the Newcomer of the Year, I would be speechless with excitement. But...... You know, there are some things that can be done, some things that can't, and some things that you don't bother to do, and people have to be principled. ”

Samora could hear Hugo's regret in his voice, but Hugo still insisted on his principles unmoved, which is not surprising, because whether it was "glory to death" or dazzling agent wars, including endless film offers, Hugo showed his persistence and principles. But even so, Samora couldn't help but be amazed again in admiration, facing such a temptation from the Grammys. Not everyone can stay calm.

Hugo seemed to see through Samora's thoughts, and laughed out loud, "Don't admire me, in fact, my heart is bleeding right now, you know?" Grammy Newcomer of the Year, the only chance in a lifetime, if you miss it, you will never have it, and this regret is not something that everyone can bear. Hugo grimaced as he spoke, making Samora laugh out loud as she was driving.
