When they debated with the Buddhists, they all went back to the controversy between Mencius and the Confucius, because they saw that these two arguments were essentially the same, and both meant the struggle between "good sex" and "no good and no evil in nature", that is, the dispute between real and void sexuality.

It's just that in Mencius's time, there was no Buddhist concept of emptiness or emptiness, so Mencius did not put forward a specific concept of reality. Only in the Song and Ming dynasties, when Buddhism was rampant, did there be a concept of reality.

If so, conceptually speaking, Shixue was born in the Song and Ming dynasties; In essence, Confucianism itself is practical learning.

That is to say, under the general characteristics of Confucianism, there are various levels of practice. According to the principle of the unity of body and application, the Tao or sexual essence will be dispersed into all things. In this way, whether it is sexual ontology or ordinary daily use, it is all practical learning.

And ordinary daily use includes all areas of people's lives, including moral articles and worldly deeds; There are not only the study of the poor reason, but also the art of governing the country through the world.

In this way, all the things that the Confucians of the Song and Ming dynasties did under the banner of Confucianism can be called Shixue.

During this period, there were various concepts of practical learning, some advocating the effectiveness of Confucianism, such as Xu Guangqi; Some advocate the characteristics of Confucianism, such as Li Zhizao; Some advocate the sexual characteristics of Confucianism, such as Yang Tingyun; Some advocate the monism of Confucianism and goodness, such as Huang Zongxi. Regardless of which aspect they focus on, they may seem contradictory, but they are all part of the general tendency of Confucianism to be realized.

Among the above people, Gao Pragmatism certainly recognizes Xu Guangqi more, because theoretically speaking, Xu Guangqi is one of the successors of his Gao family's Shixue, and he pays attention to learning to see practical results.

But at this time, Gao Pragmatism cannot help but think about another question: Is there any hope for the unification of these various "practical studies"? Is there a need for reunification?

Academics, according to a highly pragmatic view, should "bloom a hundred flowers", even if he does not recognize today's end of the mind, but it is not good to say that there is no good thing in the end of the mind.

In the same way, does the Donglin Party only have "itchy scalps" and only "the water is too cold"? In the early days of the Donglin Party, there were a lot of people with good spirits!
