Chapter 137: Water Comes to Cover the Earth
It is true that civil officials often push back the emperor's will, and as for the means, they are both hard and soft, but the current situation is not quite the same as usual.
Although this group of nobles is afraid that when it comes to fighting, they are all unreliable, and they are all kinds of scum, but when it comes to these things in the officialdom, it is even platinum per capita, and all kinds of ways and tricks.
The reason why this thing is different is actually what Gao Pragmatic himself said just now, that is, "Linggong is extraordinary".
How extraordinary, this is rooted in Chinese cultural traditions.
Because of the relationship between the Confucian tradition, Chinese have always been more superficial about believing in God and Buddhism, and many people seem to believe in it, but in fact, "if the spirit is believed, if the spirit is not abandoned".
I asked for help, and I came to repay a wish, which means that you are still useful, so I will thank you; It's useless for me to beg, I'll just treat you as if you don't exist, and I won't bother to care about you anymore in the future, who I love. Believing in God and Buddhism is like a business here for the Chinese, just an exchange, and there is absolutely no "spirit" that other civilizations are willing to sacrifice everything for their gods.
People always have some faith, since the Chinese since ancient times have not really believed in gods and Buddhas, then what is the belief of the Chinese? In fact, the Chinese, especially the traditional literati, have only two true worships, namely "heaven worship" and "ancestor worship".
What is heaven worship?
Chinese myths and legends are probably the most unique in the world, and among a large number of unique myths, there is one god who can be called the most unique. The status of this deity in the hearts of the Chinese is equated with the God of Western mythology, but no myth or legend has ever had any detailed description of this almost omnipotent deity, and "he" is also the only deity in many myths and stories of the Chinese nation that has not been face-painted or totemized, and we can't even figure out whether he should use one, one or one.
Yes, this peculiar existence is the "God" that we often talk about. Foreigners say "thank God" when they feel very lucky, but what about Chinese?
"God forbid."
Chinese myths and stories are very coherent, just like narrating an unknowable history, from "Pangu opened the sky" to "Nuwa created man", to "ten days together", and then from "Houyi shoots the sun" to "Chang'e runs to the moon", and from "Gonggong angrily touches the Zhou Mountain" to "Nuwa mends the sky", followed by "Dayu controls the water" and so on, etc., it seems that there has never been a god named "Tian" directly involved in it, but it is such a god who cannot verify his heels, but he has been worshiped by the people for 5,000 years.
Some people say that "Tian" is "Emperor of Heaven", which at first glance seems to make some sense, but anyone who knows a little about Chinese mythology knows that this argument is untenable.
Ancient kings all called themselves "Son of Heaven", and it seems that as long as it is related to "Heaven", it is orthodox. However, the miraculous thing is that Chinese literary legends have no respect for the real objects of Chinese mythology, such as "Heavenly Court", "Heavenly Emperor", and "Jade Emperor".
Let's not mention the "Havoc in the Heavenly Palace" in "Journey to the West", as long as you have read the "Fengshen List", you will know that the personality of a god is lower than that of an immortal, and the highest achievement of an immortal is "immortality" and "longevity and heavenly qi". In this way, it can be seen that "Heaven" is an existence that is far higher than the gods of "Heavenly Court".
Some people say that "heaven" refers to "the way of heaven", which is much more reliable than the "emperor of heaven". But if you think about it carefully, there are still big loopholes.
The "Tao of Heaven" or "Dao" was proposed by Lao Tzu in the Tao Te Ching, and the Chinese worship of "Heaven" was formed long before this. In fact, long before the advent of writing, the worship of "heaven" already existed, and from the titles such as "God God" and "Son of Heaven", and from slang terms such as "people are doing, the sky is watching" and "God has eyes", it is not difficult to find that for the ancestors of the Chinese, "heaven" is a certain thing or a certain deified existence, and it is by no means an ethereal "way of heaven".
So what exactly is the sky? So far, no one has been able to say a convincing opinion, and can only roughly think that "God" is the concrete manifestation of "Heavenly Dao" - but it has not been able to "concretely" a specific image. So much so that when the Chinese worship the heavens, they never put a statue of a god in front of people, saying: "This is the sky."
But ancestor worship is much more specific than heaven worship. Scholars believe that there are two major signs of Chinese civilization that are particularly important: the tribal system linked by the blood patriarchal family, and the rationalized shamanismrationalized tradition. The two are closely linked, become one, and continue to exist in various forms for a long time.
Historians of thought believe that Neolithic archaeological discoveries prove that one of the indisputable major primitive phenomena of Chinese culture is ancestor worship. Other cultures also have ancestor worship, but ancestor worship in China has its own unique characteristics.
For ordinary people, the statements of scholars of intellectual history are relatively obscure, so I won't talk about them here, let's "speak human words". One of the important keys is that since the primitive era of "home for witches" to "Jedi Tiantong", "witches" have become the privileged function of "jun" (political leaders). This kind of "unity of witches" (that is, ****) and the unity of the ancestors, the worship of the gods (that is, the unity of man and god), is actually the same thing. It has gone through a long process, and although the royal power has increasingly overwhelmed and replaced the divine power, the unity and union of the two has never dissolved.
That is to say, from the great sorcerers of ancient times, to Yao, Shun, Yu, Tang, Wen, Wu, and Zhou Gong, all these famous ancient and ancient political figures, including Yi Yin, Wu Xian, Bo Yi and others, are all great witches who combine political ruling power (royal power) and spiritual ruling power (divine power). This is obviously different from after the royal power overwhelmed the divine power, and after the "witch" became a folk culture.
As we all know, China's rulers have been fond of "enshrined as gods" and honored some of the outstanding ancients as gods. But the average person doesn't think about the basis of this - that is, why the emperor has the power to make gods.
Because he is the "Son of Heaven", he represents the "God of God", and the origin of this kind of thinking can be traced back to at least the era of "unity of witches and kings".
By the beginning of the Zhou Dynasty, there was a qualitative turning point in the process of "history from witches" in ancient China. This turning point is Zhou Gongdan's "making rituals and making music". It finally completed the rationalization process of the "witch history tradition", thus laying the foundation of the great tradition of Chinese culture.
The completion of the ideas of "morality" and "propriety" is the sign of the completion of this rational form.
"Virtue" is the meaning of the magical magic of witchcraft and the norms of "witchcraft etiquette", which is gradually transformed into the meaning of the king's behavior and character, and finally becomes the meaning of individual mental morality.
The "virtue" mentioned at the beginning of the Zhou Dynasty is in the second stage, where "virtue" refers to a set of behaviors of the king, but not ordinary behaviors, but mainly major political acts such as sacrifices and expeditions.
Over time, it was combined with the witchcraft rituals of ancestral sacrificial activities, and gradually evolved into a set of social norms, orders, requirements, and habits that maintained the survival and development of clans, tribes, and chiefdoms.
In other words, "de" is first of all an unwritten law related to the major activities of clans, tribes, and chiefdoms such as "rituals" and "rong". "De" was raised to an unprecedented height at the beginning of the Zhou Dynasty, which was related to the comprehensive establishment of the entire normative system of clan-tribe-state with the political behavior of the king as the core at that time, that is, "making rituals and making music".
This "virtue and politics" of "making rituals and making music" can be divided into two aspects: "respect" and "etiquette".
Next, Confucius refined and sublimated the requirements of "virtue" and "propriety", and here we must take out the classic sentence from "Zuo Chuan": the major affairs of the country are in worship and worship.
However, there is a premise of "worship", you must build and maintain the tomb of the ancestors, and you must have a place to worship the spiritual position of the ancestors. Why have Chinese long been afraid to leave the "land of their ancestors"? Because the ancestors are there, you can't guard the tombs of your ancestors and sacrifice seriously, then you are "lacking virtue". Instead of saying that the Chinese are afraid of the unfamiliar environment and dare not leave their familiar places, there is no such thing, the pioneering spirit of the Chinese is originally very strong.
In this way, since ancient times, China has paid attention to death as life, and this is true for the people, and even more so for the royal family.
The cultural roots are clear, and looking back, it is clear why "Linggong" is important.
The emperor's mausoleum, not so much the most important thing is to give the emperor himself a place to enjoy after death, but to give the emperors of later generations a place to "worship".
The ideological height of this matter is not to flatter today's son, but to set an example for the "virtue" of sacrificing to the world.
In the era of Confucianism governing the world, as long as everything is linked to "virtue", it must not be a trivial matter, not to mention that the "virtue" here is not the "virtue" of personal cultivation, but the virtue of the world that is "the major event of the country, and the virtue of the world".
Who dares to ignore this, who dares to oppose this? Those who dare to take this matter seriously, do not cooperate, and do not do their best, I am afraid that the result can only be pointed out by thousands of people, and they will end up without a problem.
But Gao Pragmatic took over this errand of death, saying that he could stand up to the front, bear the possible coercion of the Ministry of Industry, and even let the emperor find him in person.
Is it so awesome?
Seeing the ghost-like expressions of these large number of nobles, Gao Pragmatic was also a little dark, and said in his heart: How can you see through Lao Tzu's methods at a glance? Confucianism talks about morality, but Confucianism is almost only engaged in "programs" now, and the specific things are not what we Legalists in Confucian skins are doing?
What do Legalists pay attention to? Pay attention to as long as things are done well, the means are not important! Whether it's fierce or scheming, even if it's a bottomless compromise, the Legalists don't really care at all! Historically, Legalism was famous for being cool, and that was only because of the environment at that time, coolness was the most effective.
As for the "virtue" of Confucianism, you can talk about it in the Ministry of Industry, but I can't talk about it if I am pragmatic and pragmatic and have a six-headed champion? There are more places to talk about here, is it true that science is orthodox from the beginning? Both the Mind School and the Reality School came out of thin air?
To be reasonable, you have your set, I have my set, you say that it is virtue to repair on time, then I say slow work and meticulous work, this is not virtue? I don't say I won't fix it!
Gao pragmatic smiled without saying a word in the chest in the end, which gave the nobles a little confidence, everyone looked at each other for a while, Zhu Yingzhen asked: "Truth-seeking, have you figured this matter clearly?" It won't bother you, will it? ”
His question made Gao pragmatic a little moved, more than ten years of friendship was not in vain, his first thought was not whether he could handle this matter well and save their future interests, but worried about whether he Gao would be affected.
Although it is said that if Gao Pragmatic is really going to be implicated, their situation may be worse in the future, but people can ask such a question, and Gao Pragmatic still appreciates it.
"Cheng Guogong rest assured, the soldiers will block the water and cover the earth, since their chess move was seen through by the old man, they specially reminded me, so that they will not be caught off guard again, then there is nothing to be afraid of." Gao pragmatically smiled: "Now that Rong Zheng's squire is temporarily vacant, if the Ministry of Industry makes a move at this time, it is indeed difficult for you to deal with it, but since Shi Xing is ...... Hehe, I can't help but respond. You just have to hand over all financial matters to the household department to deal with, I will set a new system here, and there will be no risk of the household department plucking the feathers of this goose. ”
There is a high pragmatic shot, Zhu Yingzhen and they are really not worried that Gao pragmatic will embarrass them with this - there are too many places where Gao pragmatic can embarrass them, and it is not bad. But they are really a little panicked when the household geese pluck their feathers, after all, everyone in the yamen is as dark this year, and there is no reason why the household is particularly clean.
However, since Gao Pragmatic said so, they have the bottom in their hearts. It's not that because of the existence of high pragmatism, the household department can be cleaned up immediately, even if he has such means, it will take a certain amount of time to achieve results. The reason why they have the bottom of their hearts is because the systems that Gao Pragmatic has engaged in so far are quite reliable, and it will be much more difficult than before to circumvent the obstacles he has set up to play tricks, so that even if there are still people in the household department who move a little, the impact will not be great.
Moreover, at least Gao Pragmatic himself will not make a fool of himself here, so no matter how much the people below do it, they can only make a small fuss, and they will not be able to become a climate.
When the nobles and Gao pragmatic reached an agreement, they had already finished eating, and they left one after another when the lights were on.
That night, many people learned the news of the group of nobles visiting Gao Shishi, and one by one they either began to inquire about the news, or began to speculate and doubt, and they all wanted to know which play they were playing.
Honorable Traffic Ministers or MinistersTraffic Honors? This kind of thing can be big or small, and although a large number of dignitaries visiting in public are generally not regarded as "honorable traffic ministers" or "important ministers and traffic nobles", it will definitely be said afterwards.
Now that Gao Pragmatic has just stepped down as a Rong Zheng squire, such a large group of nobles have come to visit him, and he can't just congratulate him on his new appointment, so ...... The most plausible explanation is probably that the nobles persuaded him to stay in office. Although this kind of thing is not something that he can stay in office if he wants to stay in office, the collective strength of the entire Jingnan family is not a joke, and even the emperor has to consider the impact.
Is that so? How will Gao Pragmatic choose?
The entire Jingshi spent the night in this confusion, and everyone was waiting for tomorrow's pragmatic moves.
Tomorrow is the day when Gao Pragmatic officially takes office as the head of the household department.
