Chapter 193: Fish Farming in the Desert?

In fact, not only the Three-North Shelterbelt and some other shelterbelts, but also in the urban greening of the north, fast-growing poplar is also widely used in greening because of its high survival rate, fast growth rate and low price.

But the result of this is that in April and May every year, a large number of "white hairs" ravage the world, causing major troubles to the public. These wool flutter like snow, and the doors and windows dare not open, seriously interfering with the vision, even when walking, you must always pay attention to safety.

Moreover, it is extremely flammable, easy to cause fire, and brings hidden dangers to public safety. There are even some citizens who are allergic to willow catkins, and they are even more miserable. These can irritate and aggravate respiratory diseases such as asthma and chronic bronchitis, which is not good for health. It can even interfere with industrial production and scientific research activities, affecting the accuracy of precision instrument measurement.

Now the municipal departments of various cities have also realized the disadvantages of this fast-growing poplar, but there were too many plants before, the number was too large, and most of them have become mature trees. It is basically impossible to cut and remove it all at once, and it can only be replaced slowly.

In response to the problem of these fast-growing poplars flying in the hair, the municipal department has also made a lot of efforts, the most important of which is to "sterilize" these fast-growing poplars

There are three main types of sterilization operations for fast-growing poplars, one is to spray these fast-growing poplars in April and May every year to inhibit their flowering, so as to control the problem of flying.

The second type is similar to the first, except that the tree circumference technique is used to inhibit the flowering of these fast-growing poplars.

The first two are symptomatic treatments, and they basically need to be treated once a year, so they are time-consuming and laborious. The third method is more straightforward, using the grafting method to graft fast-growing poplar onto other tree species, so that fast-growing poplar will not produce tidbits.

However, for this kind of shelterbelt in the desert, there is no need for such trouble. Prevention in the city also needs to consider the crowd factor, but here it is not. According to Du Xiuming, in April and May every year, the arrangement of relevant helicopter flight spraying is completed once, which is simple and trouble-free.

And in a desert area like this, it is sparsely populated, so it seems that there is no need to consider the impact of flying.

Wu Hao's last stop on the farm was a water conservancy facility forty or fifty kilometers away, which already existed. It's just that because of the launch of Wu Hao's intelligent unmanned farm project, it will also be expanded and renovated.

Soon a water pipeline will be extended from here to the farm to provide water for irrigation of the farm's crops.

Of course, this is a desert, not a hinterland, so water is vital for both people and crops.

In order to attract Wu Hao, they built the farm in Tiemen, but the second division gave up a lot of capital and took the initiative to give this water conservancy facility to Wu Hao and them to use.

And Wu Hao, after they decided on the site, they couldn't just take over the use of it in vain. They still understand the truth of giving it a favor and repaying it with a peach.

Immediate commitments were made to invest in the renovation of the facility so that it could meet the needs of Wu Hao and his former irrigation users.

Although the Iron Gate is in the middle of the desert, it actually has water. Every spring and summer, glacial water melts from Kunlun and flows through here, creating an oasis in Tiemen.

Therefore, Tiemen has been an important town and a military pass throughout the ages, you must know that in this arid desert area, whoever controls the water source will control everything, so it has also become an important town in ancient times.

Of course, it has lost this function now, but that doesn't stop it from being an important town in the desert.

In addition to bringing water to people and irrigating crops, a large part of the rivers that flow through here actually flow into the desert and disappear, which is what we often call endorhes and seasonal rivers.

The famous Tarim River belongs to this category, and there are many such rivers in the southern desert along the foot of Kunlun.

However, in the past, with the continuous increase of people's water use and the backwardness and rudeness of irrigation methods, many rivers have been cut off and dried up.

Over the years, many rivers have resumed their flow due to industrial adjustments, upgrading of irrigation technology, and related protections.

Wu Hao: The renovation of this water conservancy facility is actually to expand the capacity of the water conservancy facility and prevent excessive use from drying up the place.

Originally, Wu Hao thought that this water conservancy facility was a dam and reservoir, but when he arrived, he found that this was not the case at all.

This facility is a dam, but this dam is different from what we usually see.

To put it simply, this is an artificially nurtured oasis wetland, a wetland full of poplars. According to the person in charge here, the dam was built in the fifties and sixties of the last century, originally for irrigation.

At that time, in order to prevent excessive evaporation, the dam was planted with poplar forests, on the one hand, to conserve water, and on the other hand, to prevent evaporation.

But unexpectedly, slowly the poplar here began to multiply and grow, and gradually covered the entire dam, forming a large area of poplar.

And slowly along the water's edge, some reeds and aquatic plants also grow. Seeing this, the veterans of the Corps who came from the mainland tried to raise fish in the dam, but they did not expect that the breeding was really successful.

With water, fish, aquatic weeds and poplar trees, it attracts a lot of birds. This has also made it an important natural ecological wetland reserve in the whole of Western Xinjiang, and a special protection station has been set up.

Although it has become an ecological wetland reserve, the dam is still in operation to meet the drinking water and agricultural irrigation needs of the surrounding and downstream people, providing water for the downstream and surrounding areas.

It's just that every year it is controlled within a reasonable range, and it must not affect the ecological environment here.

The main purpose of this reconstruction is to expand the capacity, on the one hand, to remove the sediment under the river and water areas of the dredging part of the river and increase the capacity of the reservoir. On the other hand, the entire wetland area is expanded, thereby further increasing the reservoir capacity and the water content of the wetland.

Therefore, the whole renovation process is very troublesome, not only to invest money in construction, but also to consider ecological issues. Even for the entire dam expansion project, they have been criticized by some experts in ecological conservation.

But this is a real need, and a project of this magnitude cannot be stalled because of a few words of criticism from these experts.

Therefore, Wu Hao's approach is to bring these ecological conservation experts into the dam expansion project, so that they can contribute and play their part to reduce the adverse impact on this ecological wetland reserve as much as possible.

[After checking the relevant information, there are indeed such wetlands in some areas of southern Xinjiang, not only fish, but also characteristic canoes. 】
