Chapter Seventy-Three: The Wine Barrel
The dΓ©cor in this winery is much more modest than it looks from the outside, but it doesn't look stingy, and it can still be called stylish. But Pete didn't have time to take a closer look before he was taken into the cellar.
It was shady, with rows of shelves lined with barrels or glass bottles filled with wine, and on the shelves at the back of the cellar were barrels, and the two middle-aged men who had come out to greet them had removed a dusty barrel from the shelves.
Pete glanced at the keg, which was obviously much smaller than the other wooden kegs, and was obviously the kind of body that was easy to take away and give away, and he could also tell that the barrel was filled with wine at the moment by looking at the weight of carrying it.
Fabiana walked over to the barrel and said a word of Spanish to the two middle-aged men. One of the two men immediately took a piece of cloth from his trouser pocket and carefully wiped the ash from the bucket, while Fabiana crouched down and touched the wall of the bucket with her hand, and then deducted a piece from the wall as if by magic.
Seeing this, Pete immediately squatted down and picked up the wall of the bucket that had been detained, and took a closer look. I saw that the wall of this barrel was about four or five centimeters thick, and the whole edge was very flat, and there was a gap on one side of the edge, which was easy to pull by hand. After reading this, he turned his eyes to look at the barrel, and a hole leaked in the wall of the barrel after being detained by Fabiana, only to see that she reached directly into it with her fingers, and after moving something as if something, the larger barrel wall next to the gap was loosened, and after two back-and-forth strokes, the barrel wall slowly separated from the barrel, and was quickly removed.
Pete was very interested in this, and after putting down the small piece in his hand, he picked up the large piece of the barrel wall that he had just removed and looked at it, only to see that there was something like a latch on the inside of the barrel wall, which was why Fabiana seemed to be fiddling with something just now.
"Look here." Fabiana said as she took the wall of the barrel in Pete's hand, pointed to the gap in the wall of the barrel, and said, "See?" Your stuff will be put in here. As he spoke, he pointed to Pete's bag and said, "You can put it in right away." β
Pete glanced at the gap in the wall of the barrel, which was a mezzanine, not up and down, but in the belly of the barrel, so the space was not very large, but it was enough to put a few pistols. The appearance of the barrel in front of him reminded him of the wine jug that he used to poison in his hometown, and the principle was similar to this, it looked like the wine came out of a wine jug, but what was poured to the other party was the poisonous wine in the mezzanine.
"It's not going to leak, is it?" Pete asked, looking at the mezzanine.
"No, it won't. It used to be much more expensive than yours. So rest assured. Fabiana said confidently.
Pete didn't say anything more when she said this, but turned around and took out all the guns in his bag, and after a quick inspection, handed them to Fabiana, let her put them in one by one, and finally put some sponges to fill the empty space inside, so that things would not shake and make a noise when they were carrying.
After putting the two pieces back together, Fabiana asked Pete and Jill to try to remove the walls of the barrels themselves, and after two back-and-forth attempts to make sure there were no problems, they each stood up and moved the barrels out of the cellar and placed them on a large SUV in the winery.
"At night, we use this car." Fabiana looked back at the winery and said, "I'll stay here during the day." Did you eat breakfast? Do you want to eat a little together? Without waiting for them to respond, he returned to the winery and sat down in a room that looked like a banquet hall.
"It's all yours here?" Pete asked as he looked around as he came in.
Fabiana did not answer, but walked to a cupboard, opened it, took out a bottle of wine and a wine glass from it, poured herself a glass of wine, looked at Diego and Jill and said, "If you want to drink, do it yourself, you're welcome." β
Hearing Fabiana say this, Diego still did not move, and Jill walked unceremoniously towards the bottle, poured himself a glass, and after sniffing it, he seemed to be very satisfied with it.
"That's good." Jill said and looked at Pete and said, "Would you like a drink?" β
Pete smiled at Jill and shook his head slightly, then turned to Fabiana, "Is there any smoke here?" There was nothing in the clothes I had just changed. β
Fabiana took a sip of her wine and smiled, then stood up, returned to the cupboard, and opened a drawer and pulled out a box. This box is wooden, square, and very classy, and you can tell that it is used for cigarettes at a glance. She placed the box directly on the large table, motioned to Pete and the others, "Cigars, Cuban, try them." β
Of course, this Pete would not refuse, not only him, but Diego and Jill also gathered around, each took one, lit it with the lighter in the cigarette case, and smoked.
"It's all under the patronage of Mr. Guardado." Fabiana said as she drank her wine, and as he spoke, several people came in from outside the door, and they were quickly set up on the table with cutlery, which was prepared for all of them by the number of cutlery.
"What do you want to eat? Is steak OK? Fabiana asked.
Diego smoked a cigarette and said, "After tonight, you'll be fine." You can rest assured that this is not something to say nicely, and if this is not guaranteed, who will help us do things in the future? β
"I hope so." Fabiana didn't seem to be very willing to cooperate, she didn't even look at Diego, but said helplessly: "I hope you can do what you promised me before." After saying that, she smiled and said, "If you don't know what to eat, I'll be the one." After speaking, he spoke in Spanish to the person who had just come to deliver the dishes, and about half an hour later, the dishes were delivered.
On this day, at Fabiana's winery, Pete they can say that it is very pleasant, there is food and drink, and Fabiana is also a very cheerful and very good talker, she makes people feel very comfortable, but Pete can feel that the conflict between her and Diego is very deep, or that she is not the same as the intelligence bureau represented by Diego. In Pete's opinion, this woman is more like she was coerced by the intelligence bureau, originally she was doing well here, and the so-called big drug dealer Guardado seems to be in league with this woman, not only taking good care of her, but also a strong big backer. This woman must have fallen into the hands of the intelligence bureau and had to help them do something. This can be clearly felt from Diego's very strong attitude towards women, as well as from the content of the conversation between the two.
