Chapter 106: Ambush (Part II)
After arranging the guards around the perimeter, Milk and I took our own trained group of Serbs and the oil bottles to the other side of the road, where they were supposed to be ambushed. That is, the rest of the people selected from Ivanovich's team will be placed in the rest area. Actually, according to my assessment of these people, of course, it was the people we trained ourselves and brought back to Serbia that was more reassuring, but because of this I put them on the opposite side of the rest area. In fact, when the ambush started, the area opposite the rest area on the opposite side made me feel even more uneasy, and if it went smoothly according to the plan, when the first shot of the ambush was fired here, it was also very important to be able to quickly retreat to our side in a short period of time. That's why I've put the people I know and trust the most.
After coming here, I entered the house and shone a flashlight on the surroundings, but no one has been here for some days. There were some tattered pieces of furniture scattered throughout the house, some of the doors were gone, and some of the doors were almost the same. The basic outline of the window is still there, but it is just a window frame, and the others belong to neither wind nor rain. The walls of the building here are relatively intact, and there are no big holes or incompleteness.
"Gardener, look at the roof of this building, you should be able to see all the corners of the rest area on the opposite side from above." I looked at the gardener.
The gardener said yes, found the stairs of the little building, and went up. I looked at Milk, "Let's do the rest as we laid it out." β
Milk nodded, "No problem. I've practiced so many times. With that, he looked at the others, "Test the communicator." β
"This is, Milk."
"Veteran, Roger."
"Drag the oil bottle."
"It's the gardener, it's nice upstairs. You can see the rest area clearly. β
"Good." I replied via the communicator.
After everyone had tested the communicator and it was fine, I looked at Milk and said, "Then I'll go back first." β
Milk said yes and immediately began to arrange an ambush, while I walked out of the house and returned to the side of the rest area. When I returned, VuriΔ and Yugovic were already arranging an ambush. After all, we had preliminary arrangements and plans before, and everyone had a general idea of where they were. The most leisurely at the moment was Younis, who sat at a pump and took a sip from time to time.
I came up to him and said, "You've known that Berisha for a long time?" β
Younis looked at me, "My student, are you asking too many questions?" β
"Is it much? If this was to be kept secret, you would have taken us to meet the guy, and you were still acting like an old friend we hadn't seen in years. Even if I have a lot of problems, it's you who caused it. I said.
"Hey, hey, hey. I'll just say, you'll be a good student of mine. Are you interested in also changing careers to be a thief? The old guy said half-truthfully.
"Nope. Not at all interested. In my opinion, the most unlucky thing is to engage in intelligence, and it is thankless to remind you all day long, so you should trick those teenagers who have been poisoned by the 007 series of movies to take over your class. I said, shaking my head. The moment he said that I was going to change careers, the image of many spy agents instantly appeared in my mind, and they had a common characteristic, that is, they did not get the honor and reward they deserved, that is, they did not end well.
"Hey... You're better than me in this regard. If only I had been as determined as you were back then. Younis said with a sigh.
I saw that he seemed to remember some sad past again, and immediately turned to say, "Don't mention this, let's talk about Berisha, I'm more interested in that." β
The old guy smiled, "You're right. What is there to mention about the of the past. But Berisha, don't you keep asking me why I believe these people? β
The old man beckoned to me as he spoke, and looked to the left and right as if he were really afraid of being watched.
I saw that he had to squat down and lean over with him, and he quickly leaned over to me and said, "Tell you a secret." That Berisha, hehe, was a Russian. Hahaha. β
"Huh?!" I thought the old guy would say something worthless, but it turned out to be like this? "Did you drink too much?" I said softly.
"What's that wine? You should know how much I can drink. "The old guy doesn't care.
"So what you say is true? You sent that guy? I continued.
The old guy smiled, "What did we send?" It was as if all those who had sent him were dead. In those years, there were many people who lost contact, and there were many people who were ready not to do incognito. He's Berisha now, not anyone. β
"And how did you recognize him? You don't really know each other, do you? Seen in the past? I asked.
"Hey. Do you think the collapse of the USSR was done in a day or two? NATO's claws were extended only after the collapse of the USSR? The old guy snorted coldly and continued: "You see that today's things are just NATO reaping the fruits of victory, understand?" These are all fruits, the fruits of victory after so many years of repeated struggles. β
"Then what do you mean ... You've infiltrated this place before, too? I asked.
"Is this weird? Isn't that normal? Young man, we people, not to say much, just the past of me, Berisha, and Kudrya is enough to write three books of this thickness. The old man said as he used his right thumb and index finger to draw a thickness of about five centimeters.
"Stop! Stop! I made a pause gesture, "I'm not going to listen anymore." It's not pleasant for me to listen to these bad debts, and it involves too many secrets, I don't want to listen to it anymore, you keep you to write a memoir when you retire in the future, and I'll definitely buy a copy to read it then. It's safer that way. β
"Haha. Hahaha. The old guy held his breath to keep his laughter from being too big, and shook his body, "This... Is this a blessing? Well, in my opinion it's a blessing, a nice blessing. The old fellow said as he stood up, put his arm around me and hugged me, "Thank you, my dear student. I hope that we will all have the opportunity to write at our desks or read books while lying in our rocking chairs. Now, you'd better hurry up and arrange people. I'm going to have to find a place to sleep for a while, it's a bad place, it's still good when I was working in Iraq, I have food and drink, and a nice house to live in. After the old guy finished speaking, he suddenly pulled me again and said seriously: "My student, remember, although I tell you the true identity of that guy, you must not treat him as your own, you must remember this." β
I nodded, "Understood." As you said, he's Berisha now, not anyone. β
"Hmm. Not bad. That's it. The old fellow laughed and let go of my hand, and just as I was about to turn away, he suddenly said, "You don't think about it anymore?" β
Of course I knew what he was proposing, so I ignored him and walked away. Jugovic and VuriΔ have almost all the men arranged, and I'm just going to make a rough round. Both of them are people with a lot of actual combat experience, and they are well arranged here, and there are two machine gun positions here, and the firing range is good, which can almost cover the area outside the house. Vidic was placed on the second floor of a house in the middle of the rest area, where there was a hole in the wall, from where he would snipe enemies in the rest area. And the places where the others would hide were pretty much in place, and we had brought the camouflage canvas for camouflage, which would cover the body of the concealer, and I planned to sprinkle some of the dirt on it after dawn, so that it would look better.
I saw that it had been arranged, and after checking it again, we each tested the communicator, and after confirming that everyone was okay and that there was normal communication between here and across the street, we all hid in the house and started the ambush.
As the day began to get dark, I checked my respective hiding spots again and looked around the ground to see if anything had been left behind
Traces, such as overly clear footprints, dropped personal belongings, etc., although we are forbidden to bring personal belongings on a mission, but still be careful.
After checking that everything was fine, I arranged for some hands to collect some sand and soil, and after perfecting my disguise, I went back to my hideout, which was the first floor of the house in the middle, and I hid under a window.
Just after nine o'clock in the morning, there was movement from the highway, the sound of cars. At the same time, the communicator in the ear, Rivedic and the gardener, each reported that an off-road vehicle was driving towards the rest area.
Moments later, an off-road vehicle appeared in view. The car stopped on the road outside the rest area, and the people inside did not get out of the car immediately, but opened the door as if after a general observation, and it was the rear door that opened, and two people stepped out of the car. The car did not turn off, and from Vidic's briefing, it was known that there were two people sitting in the front seat, and one person in the back seat who did not get out of the car.
I slowly glanced out the window, and although the two people who got out of the car were not holding guns, the hands in the pockets of their clothes were touching the guns. The two men walked into the rest area and looked around vigilantly, their eyes quickly extending from the rest area to the houses.
"Gardener, you aim at the people in the cab, Vidic you aim at the people in the co-pilot. Jugovic, you look at the one on the right, and Vurich you look at the one on the left. Waiting for my command to fire, everyone else relaxed, taking their hands off the trigger. β
"The goal is clearly visible. It can be fired at any time. The gardener and Vidic replied separately.
Then we began to watch quietly, and one of the people who got out of the car slowly walked towards here. I watched him approach, and I slowly lowered my body, leaving only half of my eyes to look at him, "Ready... "If this guy continues to get close to me, I'm ready to do it.
The guy stopped after about five meters of progress, and after looking at the ventilated house, he turned around and said, "It's still the same here, not even beggars." β
"Don't you have to go in and have a look?" A voice came from the direction of the car.
"I'm going to go, you're going. What can be hidden in this place? Can't you see that the house is in ruins? I'm afraid he'll collapse when I go in. The man said as he walked back.
"Calm down. Calm down, don't get excited. I whispered slowly.
"Okay then." The car replied, "Then let's go." But when you go back, you report back to the above. β
"I report and I report. This is Kosovo, I don't know why I am so careful here too. The man complained.
"Alright. The Count has always been careful, it's the rule. The man in the car spoke.
After a while, there was the sound of the car door closing, followed by the sound of the car engine going away.
I sat back down and let out a long sigh of relief. "Everyone. It seems that we are in luck right now. We should have a good harvest this time. I said through the communicator.
