Chapter 609: New Prime Minister

The biggest thing in 1933 for Romanian politics was the general election.

In fact, the general election should have started a long time ago, and Karaturi has been in the prime minister's seat for eleven years. However, the general election was dragged on for another year by Eder on the grounds that he needed to deal with the economic crisis that was currently sweeping the world, and it was not until 1933 that the general election was held.

Now that the elections have begun, it is only natural that the parties need to do their utmost to do so. In particular, the Liberal Party, which has been in power for many years, needs to maintain its ruling position in order to attract more aspiring young people to join the party, so this time they launched Bardovin, the former Minister of Industry, to run for election.

The reason is very simple, the Romanian economy needs a leader who can make a difference at the moment. And Bardovin's ability as Minister of Industry is obvious to all, so it is absolutely the most suitable to launch such a prime minister.

As for the second Conservative Party of the millennium, it has failed to form a cabinet for 30 consecutive years and no one has become prime minister. Such an outcome would have a very big impact on the Conservative Party, so they are determined to win this election. This time they put forward their own party leader, Mihalakei, to run in the general election in person.

Mihalakai was originally a teacher and fought against the Allies after the outbreak of World War I. The victory in the war had already yielded more than Romania could have believed, and Mihalakai felt that he needed to get into politics and that he wanted to preserve it for Romania. After being introduced by a friend, he joined the Conservative Party.

After joining the Conservative Party, he was full of energy and preached the ideas of the Conservative Party everywhere. The main thing is that Romania is a big family and everyone needs to contribute to the country. We are proud to live in Romania...... And so on and so forth. Moreover, the effect of his propaganda is good, and it is also suitable for Romania, which has high national self-confidence, so he has made great contributions to the Conservative Party that has not been able to form a government for many years and still has a large number of supporters. So in the Conservative Party in 1928, the party leader was elected.

Moreover, Mihalakhai is a statist, he believes that no matter what nationality he comes from, as long as he loves the country, then he can obtain the civil rights he deserves. It is also because of his remarks that he has won the support of ethnic minorities.

Of course, Miharakai has not forgotten who is really in control of the country. Perhaps because of his military service, Mihalakai considered it a blessing for Romania to have a wise king in power. Because for Romania, it will also mean being able to avoid the danger of hitting a wall.

With the exception of these two parties, who have a peep at the prime minister's throne, the other parties can only maximize their share of parliament. There is no way, the current strength of these two parties is too strong, so that the other parties have no way to have any chance. So they are more focused on expanding the influence of their own parties. And the idea of forming a government can only arise from the middle of these two parties.

Eder is also very concerned about this election, because it will be a crucial election for Romania. The approach of World War II made Eder pay more attention to the choice of his deputy. That's right, the position of prime minister is for Eder's deputy, his deputy to help him govern the country.

It is also a step backwards in Romanian politics. I wonder who these politicians could have chosen to be king back then, and now it is the king who chooses to help him. Moreover, the power is basically in the hands of the king, and the prime minister is only a part of the power from the king. But for Eder, the taste of power has penetrated into his bones after so many years of government, and the feeling of being in power is good.

In fact, Eder is also uncertain about who to choose, because Romania also needs economic development during this time. If this line of thought is followed, then Bardovin, the former Minister of Industry, is the most suitable. However, the next few years will not only be economic, but also military, diplomatic, and other important work for Romania, especially the guidance of the domestic people.

Eder knew that the First World War was a propaganda campaign to recover Transylvania, so the Romanian people were united and enthusiastically threw themselves into the war. And what slogan should World War II itself use to get the people to support the war?

The word "famous" is a necessary choice for war. If it is not used well, just like in Germany, let everyone use 100% enthusiasm and energy, if it is not used well, like Italy, the people do not want to leave the war, and forcibly drive it, it will make the army ineffective.

Although the Romanian army must have been well prepared under its own direction, morale was very important. Moreover, in the future, Romania will have to face a situation that is even more dangerous than the First World War, and Romania cannot afford to relax in the slightest.

In the end, though, Eder made a decision.

So in the parliamentary elections on February 15, the conservative Mihalakai won with 137 votes to Bardovan of the Liberal Party and became the new prime minister of Romania.

Naturally, the Conservative Party was overjoyed by this outcome, and they had been looking forward to the formation of a government for many years. The Conservatives have often been the backdrop in the years of bipartisan rule, and now it's finally their turn to come to power.

Although the Conservative Party is extremely excited about this, Miharakai, who is about to become prime minister, is very calm, and he already has his own ideas for the future formation of a cabinet in his heart.

To this end, he visited many well-known politicians in a row, and even the former prime minister, who is still alive, he took great pains to visit them one by one.

Sure enough, in the subsequent announcement of the cabinet list, Mihalakei's idea was made public. The Conservative Party does not account for half of the cabinet members in this list, including independents and other small party members. Even the Liberals can be found in the list.

This result was something that many people in the Conservative Party did not figure out, but they were persuaded by Mihalakai on the grounds that the Romanian people elected him as prime minister and needed him to lead Romania to prosperity and power, rather than fighting for power. In fact, it was not only these words, but also Mihalaky's prestige in the party. Everyone knew that the party leader was a human being, and what he said to other solemn matters was his heart, and he had basically done so all these years.

And when the news reached Eder, he gave a comment. "This is a true patriot."

True, in his opinion, this Mihalakai is the kind of person with a fanatical national complex, which is generally not suitable for the post of prime minister, because they will take the interests of the country too seriously. This is not to say that it is wrong to attach importance to national interests, but that if national interests are taken too seriously, there will be a lack of tactful compromise by politicians. After all, politics is the art of compromise, and it is impossible for an entire country to be the kind of selfless people who give themselves, and this kind of people are generally used for propaganda.

And it is rare for Mihalakhai to be able to maintain rationality under the fanatical love of the country, which is very rare. Generally speaking, people who hold this characteristic will be called great people if they can hold high positions. Of course, at present, Mihalakai only has this quality, and no one knows whether he can become a great man in history.
