Chapter 171: Mythology
The sudden change seemed to mess everything up all at once.
The shrieks of the maid and the screams of the men before they died broke the silence of the monastery in the night, and then the chaotic footsteps of the bohemians were heard in the empty courtyards and corridors of the monastery.
When several nuns opened the door and came out because they heard the movement outside, looking at the group of men who suddenly appeared in front of them, the nuns immediately let out louder screams in fright!
"Let everyone go back to their rooms," Alexander ordered to the man next to him, and he held Lucrezia's terrified maid tightly to show her way, the light of the sword flashing in the corner of her eye, which made the maid almost dragged forward with fear under her feet.
"Stop!" A stern voice came from the end of the corridor, and a figure who was not tall, but stood straight, appeared there, holding an oil lamp in her hand, and the light kept shaking with the evening breeze, stretching her figure long in the corridor: "This is the dwelling place of God, the refuge of the women who serve God, how dare you break in!" β
Alexander walked forward, still holding the maid in his left hand, and when he was about to get up to the old nun, the maid suddenly tried to get out of his grasp, and took a step forward to try to ask the old nun for help.
"Please save me, Dean, help me!"
The maid cried out, but she was immediately pulled back by Alexander, who had stopped in front of the old nun to look at the stern-eyed, undaunted abbot.
"Dean, I hope you don't do anything stupid, for it's not good for all of us," said Alexander, muttering, his face now covered with a scarf, and his exposed eyes fixed on the face that flickered in the light.
"Do you know what you're doing, I can guess who you are even if you cover your face, don't you know who you're going to anger by doing this?" The abbot asked angrily, obviously hoping to intimidate Alexander, but when she saw a long sword that suddenly appeared in front of her on her neck, the originally calm abbot's face suddenly turned pale, "You are crazy, you are really crazy, you dare to pull out a weapon in the monastery." β
"Abbot, if you don't get out of the way, maybe I'm going to kill someone again in the monastery, probably you don't know that my men have killed a man, and it's a man." Alexander whispered in the abbot's ear that he could hear the abbot's gasps of panic, and as he flicked his sword to the side, the abbot, who had been firmly in front of a door, was involuntarily pushed aside.
"Open the door."
Alexander ordered the Bohemian next to him, and at his words, the Bohemian with an axe covered in blood rushed to the door, and with a strong pull, the door immediately opened.
The rooms of the monastery, except for the abbot's room, are not allowed to be removed from the inside, because according to Benedict law, all those who enter the monastery mean that they will give up all their earthly possessions, and everything in the personal room belongs to the monastery, even his or her body belongs to God.
But Alexander knew that there was another deeper meaning to this rule, that men and women who were locked up in the monastery like captivity could easily become distorted within the walls of oppression, and that the fire of desire that transcended nature but could not be suppressed burst out between the same sex, which was nothing new to the monastery from ancient times to the present
Despite Lucrezia's special status, the room she lived in obviously didn't have a lock from the inside, so when the door opened, Alexander had already seen Lucrezia standing in front of the bed.
At this time, a beam of moonlight shone through the high window, and Alexander could clearly see the look on her face.
Panicked, dazed, and at a loss, the princess of the Borgia family had completely turned into a panicked woman, clutching the sides of her skirt tightly, and a pair of eyes that looked unusually bright in the moonlight flashed with a look of fear that could not be concealed.
"Now you have to go with me," said Alexander in a deep voice, he did not have much time to delay, and considering that the Genoese would feel in the early hours of the morning, he knew that he had only a few hours, and then he would have to carry out his plan before the Borgia got the news.
"You're the Cambrai?"
Although she had already guessed, it was not until she heard Alexander's voice that Lucrezia exclaimed, her face immediately showed courage because of fear, and then a trace of anger attached to her cheeks, "You dare to break into the monastery at night and kidnap me, if my father knew about it, he would not have bypassed you." β
"Madame, I have to tell you that I need to let your father know about it, but before that you can go with me." Alexander grabbed a piece of clothing that looked fairly thick from the side and stuffed it into her arms, then reached out and grabbed Lucrezia's wrist, dragging her out of the room before she could scream.
When Lucrezia was shocked to find that this man dared to be so unreasonable to herself, a neighing sound suddenly came from the courtyard, and with the crisp sound of the horse's hooves hitting the stone slab, a tall war horse actually trotted into the corridor.
Alexandria suddenly reached out and lifted Lucrezia to the back of his horse, and then he grabbed the reins and rolled over and jumped on Pagasus' back.
Pagasus, apparently uncomfortable with the sudden presence of someone on his body, took a few steps back to steady himself, and then twisted his neck vigorously before he stopped.
"Let me go, I'm going to get my father to sentence you to death, and he'll have people set you on fire!"
Lucrezia was really scared, she had never met such a person, let alone a man, and when she was thrown on a war horse, she even felt like those slave girls who had been taken by barbarians and infidels in ancient legends.
"Be careful, my lady, we're going to have to walk a long way at night, and if you don't fall off your horse, you might break your neck."
Alexander pulled the reins in one hand and wrapped Lucrezia tightly from behind with the other, and he had to hold her in his arms in order to be honest.
"God, where are you going to take her?"
Seeing Lucrezia on horseback, the abbot could no longer care about the danger, she desperately rushed past the Bohemians in front of her, rushed in front of Pagasus, and looked up at Alexander, "Don't you know what the consequences will be?" The Pope will never let you go, he will order you to be wanted by all countries, and you will never escape punishment unless you flee to the infidels. β
At this, the abbot suddenly stretched out his hand to stop his mouth, and stared at Alexander with a look of horror in his eyes.
"Don't worry, Madame Abbot, I will not flee to the heretics, let alone the Borgia with me," said Alexander, who saw the abbot's thoughts, and with a hard tug on the reins and a clamp under his feet, with the neighing of his horse, Pagasus turned around and rushed down the corridor towards the gate of the monastery.
By this time the gates of the monastery were open, and the whole town was lit up by red torches, and when Alexander rushed out of the monastery with Lucrezia, I don't know which Bohemian was the first to let out a long whistle, and all sorts of whistles came one after another, and even the Agri standing by the roadside let out a burst of cheers.
Carlo looked at Alexander with an uneasy expression, as far as he knew, according to the plan, all this should have been carried out quietly, and even Alexander left overnight to try not to alarm too many people, because only in this way could he deal with the people of the upcoming Borgia family, but I don't know what happened, but things finally became like this, looking at Alexander, who was like the Hun Khan who robbed the beautiful slave girl and returned victoriously, Caro's forehead was already full of sweat at this time.
"Carlo, keep up," Alexander, who was on his horse, did not stop, he motioned for Carlo to follow, and urged his horse forward, and in the cheers of the soldiers on the side of the road, he raised his right hand and waved forward vigorously, "BohΓ¨me, keep up!" β
The whistle sounded over the town again, and the Bohemians came out of the roadside procession, jumped on horseback and followed behind Alexander, who had gathered behind him as he passed through the town.
"Carlo, don't admit anything," Alexander instructed Carlo who was following him, "and tell them tomorrow when the Genoese come, just march to Montina as previously planned." β
As he spoke, he glanced at Lucrezia, who was staring at him fiercely, and continued to say to Carlo: "Don't be afraid if the Borgia family comes, just tell them that Lucrezia Borgia is in my hands. β
"Are you going to take me hostage?!" Lucrezia asked angrily.
But to her disappointment, Alexander ignored her at all, but kept telling Carlo, when the team rushed up a hill outside the town, Alexander made a stop gesture to Carlo, as Carol's horse stopped, Alexander kicked the stirrup again with both feet, and Pagasus immediately hissed and walked far behind Caro, and ran along the road to the northwest.
Looking at the Bohemians who were following Alexander in a puff of smoke and dust that quickly disappeared into the night, Carlo was stunned for a moment, and then he suddenly turned around and ran towards the town with his horse.
After a while, the town's night sky sounded the characteristic sound of Agri's horn.
The night breeze was blowing incessantly, and Lucrezia's hair was completely blown away by this time, and the strands of it fluttered back with the wind and brushed on Alexander's face.
Lucrezia tried to speak, but as soon as the wind poured into her throat, she could only close her mouth and raise her hand in front of her face.
Although winter has long passed and entered spring, the night is still very cold, and I don't feel it at first, but after a long time, the feeling of the wind hitting my face like a knife makes Lucrezia feel even more unspeakably uncomfortable.
Despite coming out with a dress, Lucrezia was shivering from the cold, she never thought that the April night would be so cold, for her, who had lived in the palace all day, it was like suddenly returning to winter.
"I'm a little cold." Lucrezia finally couldn't help but speak, and she turned her head as far as she could to avoid the wind, but even then a large cold air poured in through the gaps in the loose neckline sleeves, which made her feel like she was about to freeze.
"Bear with me."
Hearing this answer, Lucrezia's face froze, she never thought that she would be rejected, even if she was actually a hostage now, but she still thought that as long as she opened her mouth, this man should listen to her.
But to her disappointment, the only answer to her was a cold patience", which made Lucrezia even want to look in the mirror immediately to see if she had suddenly become unpretty, otherwise how could this Gombray bear to let her be cold.
"Can we find a place to stop first, I'm going to pack my clothes."
Lucrezia didn't really want to beg this man like this, and the pride of being a Borgia made her unwilling to give up her self-esteem easily even if she fell into the hands of this person.
But she was so cold that she lost her instincts except where Alexander was holding her arm, which made her feel that if she continued like this, she might be frozen to death without waiting for what this man did to her.
Alexander just glanced forward at Lucrezia, and then ignored her.
Just as Lucrezia was angry and desperate to curse the little lord of Naples who had taken her hostage like a barbarian, she suddenly felt Alexander behind her withdraw the hand that was holding her waist, and after a while, her eyes suddenly went black, and Lucrezia quickly reached out to find that it was a thick blanket covering her head and face.
"Wrap yourself tightly," Lucrezia heard Alexander's voice coming from behind her, "we have a long way to go tonight." β
The warmth of the blanket made Lucrezia careless any longer, and after a moment of scrambling, she reluctantly wrapped herself in the blanket, and looking at the bloated blanket in front of her, Lucrezia couldn't help but wonder if Julia or Charsan would laugh at her if they saw her like this.
Although she was reluctant, because of the cold, Lucrezia simply pulled the blanket over her head and covered her entire face, so that after a while, she finally felt a trace of warmth slowly wrap around her body.
The war horse has been running non-stop, although the speed is not fast, but Lucrezia was shaken on the horse's back, and soon because of the shaking and warmth of the sleepiness to hit her, although unwilling, but feel that the eyelids are getting heavier and heavier Lucrezia finally involuntarily leaned her head back, the whole body slightly curled up behind her in the arms of the little country lord who made her hate incomparably much, and then her consciousness became more and more blurred, until she was half-asleep and let out a soft snoring sound.
In her sleep, Lucrezia felt as if she had become a priestess in the Roman temples of ancient times that had been plundered by barbarians, or as if she had been kidnapped by the beautiful but cunning bull in mythology and had crossed the sea to the New World.
Lucrezia desperately wanted to open her eyes, she wanted to see what the Zeus who had kidnapped her looked like, but she couldn't open her heavy eyelids, and when she was so stuffy in her chest that she was almost vomited by a sudden jolt, Lucrezia faintly heard someone talking loudly in a chaotic and dense sound of horses' hooves.
"My lord, according to your orders, we are here waiting to show you the way!"
Lucrezia blinked as she struggled, and the discomfort that came down her neck from being curled up for so long cleared her mind.
She looked up in pain and saw that the procession had stopped, and at a fork in the road not far from the opposite side, several horsemen dressed in the garb of Agri musketeers were waiting.
"Very well, Oflei," Alexander finally took a breath at this point, and he gently pushed Lucrezia, who was a little stiff, before jumping off his horse, "All right, ma'am, we'll rest here." β
Lucrezia stared fiercely at Alexander through the gap in the blanket, she now felt that this man was simply more hateful than the cunning bull, and watching him stand on the ground and look up at herself, pride made Lucrezia endure the soreness on her body and jump down hard.
Then, the moment her feet landed on the ground, she fell downwards without being called, and fell headlong into Alexander's arms.
