Chapter 43: The Church (4)
Binyukov and I didn't try to chase down these people who had already run away, because there was no need, we were just making a surprise attack, with the mentality that we could kill one by one, and the most important thing was that here on the stairs, the people who were attacking on the other side would definitely not sit idly by, they would definitely react quickly.
"Quick! Go open the door and find a room to go into! I shouted at Binyukov and leaned over to Christovich. And Kristovich, who had been staring at the staircase while we were moving, pulled the trigger there.
I quickly turned my head to look at the staircase, pulling the trigger as I looked there. I don't really see the target, but I don't really want to kill, as long as I can buy us some time to get to the side of the room to dodge, after all, no one wants to engage people in the middle of the passage, and that will only make me an easy target.
Binyukov accelerated directly after approaching the room on one side and kicked hard at a door. The door was kicked open with a cracking sound.
"Come here!" At the same time as Binyukov was shouting, a gunshot rang out at the top of the staircase,
Several bullets passed through my side, and Christovich continued to shoot while I lowered my body and came behind him, leaning quietly against the door of the room, "You go to the room first." I'll cover you! Without waiting for me to finish, I pulled the trigger at the spot where the other man was still shooting.
The staircase was very narrow, which made it impossible for the other party to put too many people in for a while, and as far as I could judge, there were only two people at most, and they covered each other on the left and right, and they kept shooting at us. There were no rifles at the moment, otherwise judging by where the gang was hiding and the wall at the top of the staircase, if there was a burst of heavy fire from the rifles, the two guys might have to explain there.
Kristovic quickly stepped back, and with my cover and the help of Binyukov, he walked all the way to the room behind me that had been kicked open. But before they could enter the room, the guys found a way to deal with us, only to hear a violent burst of gunfire in the hall below, and almost at the same time a dense rain of bullets shattered all the windows on one side of the hallway, and then the bullets flew into the hallway.
The barrage of fire caused all three of us to get down and dodge, but thanks to the elevation below, the bullets only hit us about the top of our heads, just above the door frame of the room.
"Continue into the room. Don't stop! "I shouted as soon as I realized this, then picked up the staircase again and raised my gun.
I saw that the people at the top of the staircase flashed out of the staircase after a burst of shooting, and these two figures leaned directly towards our walkway with guns in hand. Apparently the other side wanted to suppress the heavy fire from below, so as to cover the idea of killing us by these people on the stairs.
I pulled the trigger on the figure in front of me, and the first thing I saw when the man came in was Kristovic and Binyukov trying to enter the room, perhaps because I was on the floor and didn't move much, and they were moving. And as soon as they started attacking, the shooting below immediately stopped, and it seemed that the coordination between the gang was very good.
My shot hit the man directly, and just as the man fell on his back, the guy in front of him quickly fell to the ground and pulled the trigger again. This time his bullet hit me, but in a hurry, it hit the wall next to the door of the room next to me, and just as I tried to dodge the door and return fire, a burst of gunfire rang out from behind me, and then I saw that the guy lying on the ground had been shot at least twice, and his head was tilted and he didn't move.
The death of these two men seemed to irritate the rest of the other party, and they shot at the entrance of the staircase towards the hallway, and for a moment nothing could be heard in the entire hallway except the sound of gunfire, and I did not continue to fight back, but leaned against the door, trying to avoid the other party's shots.
But I had barely moved twice before a grenade was thrown down the staircase into the hallway. I saw the black shadow flying over, and before it exploded, my head felt like it exploded. I didn't have time to think for a moment just instinctively and quickly got up, and then slammed into the door, which was slammed open after a "click" groan, and I didn't pause and threw myself straight towards the floor in the room, and after landing on the ground, I quickly moved towards the door, but before I could move a few times, the grenade exploded almost halfway between my room and the room where Christovich was.
The shock wave and loud noise from the grenade explosion were fine, after all, I was hiding in the room and lying on the floor, and I didn't have any direct contact with them. However, the violent vibration made me lying on the ground unable to avoid it suddenly, only to feel that the whole person seemed to be slammed, and then the internal organs turned over for a while, and that feeling made my eyes black for a while.
Soon the gunfire outside the door rang out again, and it was Kristovich and Binyukov who began to fight back again. I endured the pain and reached for a chair in the room and struggled to stand up. And he looked towards the door, and at that moment, a violent burst of gunfire suddenly rang out downstairs. I instinctively stopped and fell down again, but I soon realized that the bullets weren't aimed at us.
I'm a little confused, am I hallucinating? Outside the door, the gunfire of Kristovic and Binyukov soon stopped. Could it be that the other party has thought of another way to deal with us? Kristovich: Are they all finished? This should not be ... It's simply impossible! I thought as I quickly approached the door. The gunfire downstairs quickly subsided, but only a moment later came again, but from the direction it seemed to have shifted from below us to near the altar below.
What does that mean? Could it be that I had a hearing problem and misjudged the gunshots in the hallway to come from the altar below? I reached for the wall and came to the door, and first listened carefully to the movement outside, and I heard it correctly, these gunshots came from the altar.
The gunfire was short, and after a while there was no movement. Faintly afterward, I heard someone shouting, and I didn't know what it was shouting, because my ears were still not very good at hearing at the moment, so I kept suspecting that I had heard it wrong.
I clenched the gun in my hand and quickly looked sideways into the aisle, where the glass on the other side of the aisle was gone, and there were many places where I couldn't even find the window frames. And what about the people on the other side? Except for the two bodies lying in the hallway, there was not a single figure in sight, not only did they not continue to attack, but even the people at the top of the stairs seemed to be gone.
The March results are out... Continue to be at the bottom ... Just a tragic word.
