A note on some of the data in the chapter "The Crater".

A friend in the book review area raised objections to the data in the chapter "The Giant Pit", and the lion made a little explanation.

The Battle of the Great Pit is a real battle that took place during the Siege of Petersburg in history, and the plot of the lion has been slightly adjusted, but all the data is taken from historical facts.

Including the dimensions of the crater: 30 feet deep, 70 feet wide, 250 feet long, and the Northern Army committed a total of three divisions of attacking troops.

A friend sees "two hundred and fifty feet" as "one hundred and fifty feet."

In addition, during the Civil War, the establishment of the U.S. military was much smaller than that of modern times, and the number of personnel was not fixed, which was explained in the book.

The three divisions at that time were not the three divisions now.

The lion is willing to be more real: 70 feet wide, 250 feet long, and an area of about 2,000 square meters.

Moreover, there are pit walls. Although steep, it is not necessarily a vertical ninety degrees.

During the battle, the Northern Army lost a total of 4,500 men, of whom 1,100 were taken prisoner.

There is always a part of it that escapes.

There are many things that can happen in a war that people in peacetime could not have imagined. Even in peacetime, when we sometimes see reports of overloading, it is difficult for us to imagine: how can such a small car be crammed with so many people?
