Chapter 29 Zhuangzi's way of health

"The Master of Health" is the third part of the inner chapter of Zhuangzi's book, which mainly talks about health preservation.

The first part of Zhuangzi's inner chapter is "Getaway", which talks about the realm of life. Only when we reach the height and realm of our cognition of life can we have a leisurely life.

In fact, it is not difficult to attain the height and realm of this cognition, as long as we change our cognition, change our outlook on life, world view, and cosmology, we can achieve it.

Zhuangzi believes that as long as we change our view of life, the world, and the universe, and correctly understand life, the world, and the universe, our perspective will change. As long as our perspective on the world changes, no matter how society changes, we can live a happy life.

The key to a leisurely life depends on one's state of mind, not on material wealth, not on wealth. That's what it means.

But? Many people are unable to change their views and reach the cognitive height and realm that Zhuangzi believes. So! The second article "The Theory of Things".

The second part of the Zhuangzi chapter, "The Theory of Things", is mainly to help us improve our realm and help us change our views.

The third chapter of Zhuangzi's inner chapter, "The Master of Health", mainly talks about health preservation.

I have read a lot of articles that interpret the third article of Zhuangzi's inner chapter, "The Master of Health", and the current predecessors have not interpreted the idea, some interpretations are in the clouds, some interpretations are simply nonsense, and some are very vague and incomprehensible.

Why is this so?

After analyzing it, the main reason is that they do not understand what "Tao" is and do not understand the "Tao" of Taoism.

Without understanding the Tao of Taoism, the philosophy of Zhuangzi, Taoism or Lao Zhuang cannot be interpreted, and it cannot be interpreted correctly.

And also! I have always understood Lao Zhuang's philosophical thoughts as negativity, nothingness, etc., so! They would not be able to correctly interpret Lao Zhuang's philosophical thoughts.

The first chapter of the Zhuangzi chapter mainly talks about the realm, and only after reaching this realm can we live a happy life in any society. The second part of the inner part is about how to improve our realm. And in the third part, we will talk about health preservation.

Visible! Zhuangzi's philosophical thought is not negative or nihilistic! Opposite! Or actively!

A person with negative thoughts, what else can he talk about health? Isn't it?

A person with negative thoughts, who thinks that there is no point in living, what else do they talk about? Knowing that living is a painful thing, they still talk about health preservation, does he want to live and suffer crimes?

So! Zhuangzi's philosophical thought is not negatively. Opposite! Or positively.

Many scholars believe that Zhuangzi's theory of all things is "Qi all things", "Qi life and death", etc., if Zhuangzi really talks about "Qi life and death", with the purpose of "Qi life and death", there is no necessity to talk about "health preservation". I wonder how those scholars coherent Zhuangzi's philosophical thoughts when they interpreted the article "Health Master"?

If it's not coherent, it's a contradiction.

That is, one moment to talk about "life and death", and another time to talk about "the way of health".

Judging from the book of Zhuangzi, the first article talks about leisurely travel, which is to teach us not to be bound by society and the world, and not to be bound by worldly concepts. Only when we change our mindset can we enjoy life and enjoy leisurely. The second treatise on all things teaches us how to change our concepts and improve our realm. And when it comes to the third article, "The Master of Health", it teaches us how to maintain health. And when it comes to the fourth chapter, "The World", it teaches us how to deal with the world......

Although the book of Zhuangzi was sorted out by later generations, it is after all the whole thought of Zhuangzi. Judging from the book of Zhuangzi that has been handed down, it is impossible to see Zhuangzi's "negative life" at all.

And to say that Lao Zhuang's philosophical thoughts are negative and nihilistic, it was only in the pre-Qin period and after the pre-Qin period. To put it bluntly, it was a war between schools of academic thought, denigrating others and exalting themselves.

Other people's academic ideas are all bullshit and wrong, only mine is correct. It is precisely because of this that some people have come forward to slander Lao Zhuang's philosophy, and some people have deliberately misinterpreted Lao Zhuang's philosophy, so there are negative, nihilistic and so on.

And in today's society, if there are still people who say that Lao Zhuang's philosophy is negative, nihilistic, and so on, it is that they have not read or studied it seriously at all, and they are completely listening to what others say about them, which is completely irresponsible and misleading.

To get back to the point, does Zhuangzi's health master teach us how to maintain health?

First of all, let me explain that the "health preservation" mentioned by Zhuangzi is different from the health preservation as understood by modern people.

Modern people talk about health preservation, mainly from the aspect of diet and health care, how to eat, how to mentality to make themselves healthy and long-lived, this is the modern concept of health preservation.

There are also some people who read Zhuangzi's "The Master of Health" and think that this article contains the secret of cultivation in terms of health preservation. For example, there is a secret recipe for Taoist priests to refine pills.

The health preservation that Zhuangzi talked about in the article "The Master of Health" is mainly from the perspective of mentality, how to deal with the world, and how to survive in troubled times. To put it bluntly, it is from the perspective of life science and philosophy.

So! Many people in modern times have not been given the secret recipe for "health preservation" after reading Zhuangzi's "Health Master". Even! I don't know what Zhuangzi is talking about? I only know that there is an idiom called "Ku Ding Xie Niu", there is an idiom called "easy to play", and there is an idiom called "full of ambition". The ambition comes from the description of the mentality of the cow.

And too many people think that "being at ease" is the main way to maintain health in Zhuangzi.

What does it mean to be at ease?

More people understand it as: mixed time, tactful, irresponsible perfunctory, etc. Wandering between societies, protecting oneself, and ignoring others and society, this is how easy it is. Some people also understand that they are "mixed", have good popularity, and do not offend people anywhere.

In fact! This is also misleading the reader and misleading the Zhuangzi philosophy in a negative way.

It can also be said! It's a mindless understanding! Such an understanding seriously devalues Zhuangzi's IQ and philosophy.

So? In "The Master of Health", what did Zhuangzi teach us about how to maintain health?

First! Zhuangzi tells us that human life is finite, while knowledge is infinite. Therefore, we must learn knowledge in a targeted manner, rather than blindly learning knowledge and learning everything.

There is so much knowledge of human beings, if you learn everything, even if you are given a few lives, you will not be able to learn it all, and there is no end to learning. So! We have to learn in a targeted way.

So! What do we learn?

Zhuangzi tells us that we should learn the knowledge that is conducive to our survival. We should not learn knowledge that is not conducive to our survival. We should not learn for the sake of fame, let alone get involved in people and things that we hate, so as not to be harmed.

When usefulness is conducive to our survival, we become a useful person. When uselessness is conducive to our survival, we become useless people. Sometimes! It's rare to be confused, and it's also a very witty choice.

If we can do this and follow this principle of life, we can protect our lives, we can live to the end of our lives, we can take care of our loved ones, and we can enjoy a full life.

As can be seen from the above passage, Zhuangzi's philosophy is not negative. Opposite! He taught us how to live positively, not blindly, not learn everything.

And many scholars and readers, thinking and thinking go to extremes, and when they read this, they think: Zhuangzi is teaching us not to study. Because! Human life is limited, why do you want to learn knowledge? Life and death, mixed life and mixed life.

In fact! Zhuangzi taught us to selectively learn knowledge, which is also health preservation? Isn't it?

Next! Zhuangzi talks about cooking.

Wen Huijun in the article watched Ku Ding Xie Niu and listened to Ku Ding's explanation, he said: "Good! I heard the words of Ku Ding, and I had to maintain my health. ”

I don't know if the people who read Zhuangzi's articles and studied Zhuangzi's philosophy in later generations also learned the "way of health preservation" when they read "Ku Ding Jie Niu"?

Next! Zhuangzi talks about nature and man-made.

Gong Wenxuan was very surprised when he saw the right division, because the right division was a person with only one foot. He didn't know if the right master was born with one foot, or if it was caused by human factors? If it's innate, there's nothing wrong with it. If it's artificial, it means that you don't know how to maintain health. How did you lose a foot?

If it's innate, then! We are acceptable.

It's like a pheasant that lives in the grass, it takes 10 steps to get a bite of food and 100 steps to get a sip of water, but they don't want to be kept in a cage. Although they live in cages, they are very spirited, they eat and drink, but they are not happy. Because! They have lost their freedom, their nature as pheasants.

In fact! This paragraph is not only about health and nature, but also about freedom!

Only when we follow the laws of nature and follow our own nature can we live the right life. Otherwise! All by mistake. The concept is wrong! You can't stay healthy. You can't save your life, you don't have freedom, you still have a hair?

And then next! Zhuangzi talks about life and death.

Zhuangzi took the old man who died and Qin lost his mourning as an example, and said that we should correctly understand life and death, not to be sad because a person has died, and not to be afraid of death.

People are going to die, and there is no way to avoid it. We can't avoid the birth of people! We are all born at the right time and die at the right time. So! Our concept of life and death is: when the time comes, the time is good.

At last! Zhuangzi advises us: From the perspective of man, man is dead. But from the perspective of the Tao, life is not over. The death of one thing is the birth of another.
