Chapter 3 A Sixteen-Year-Old Girl
On a huge scoreboard hanging directly above the center of the field, the countdown to the rest of the game is zero, and the game is over! The Beavers have won their first game of the year in Barton High Football League! Cheers have once again burst out of the stands, mixed with confetti, hats, and slogans...... Rush to the winning team in the field!
But in this jubilation, there are discordant voices, still from the Ript High School's own phalanx.
"It's not fair!"
While everyone was cheering for the victory, Lola was not happy. From the start to the end of the game, she was probably the only one who focused on the outside of the right wing, "It must be Connor, this nasty guy, he's always targeting Kyle!" the girl said angrily as she leaned against the guardrail and looked at the quarterback who was being held and thrown up by the player.
Alice didn't know how to comfort her new friend by saying, 'Don't be angry, Lola, that nasty guy is dead!'
The banshee looked at Zach pleadingly, and the vampire was touching his chin with a thoughtful look. After watching the whole game, they didn't find anything unusual about the guy named Connor.
"Forget it!" Lola crumpled the paper bag of popcorn into a ball, venting her anger, "By the way, Alice, do you want to go to the players' lounge? β
"Is that okay? Thank you so much!" Zach smiled, agreeing before the banshee refused.
Lola was in a better mood, packed up her things, and ran ahead again with Alice in distress, and Benjamin finally had a chance to discuss 'Connor' with Zach.
"Benjamin, and Alice's other brother (Zack), keep up!" Lola turned her head and smiled at the werewolf......
Lola's title already clearly indicates something, this time, it was originally just a 'social practice' for Alice, which successfully made Alice a friend and a werewolf with an admirer. Throughout the game, Lola's topic was divided into three parts: Alice, Benjamin, and Kyle. But looking at Benjamin's somewhat bitter face, he didn't seem to be very excited......
Zach chuckled and patted Benjamin on the back and followed Lola.
Outsiders are not allowed in the players' lounge, even family members are waiting outside. However, the clever Lola revealed her last name, Barton, and the security guards did not bother them too much and let them go.
Lola looked outside the door for a moment to make sure that everyone inside was dressed before leading the three of them in.
"Kyle!" Lola rushed to her brother excitedly and gave him a big hug, but in less than a second, the girl pushed her brother away, looking disgusted, "Uh~ You're sweating all over!
Zach is very happy that Alice has met Lola, which is a textbook example of a sixteen-year-old girl! Zach hopes that Alice will learn the mercurity of this girl......
Kyle grimaced, and he didn't seem to be able to do much to his sister, "Are you expecting incense here, why are you here?"
"I think you need some comfort, Mr. Right-wing Outfielder~" Lola looked at her brother playfully, as if the girl who had fought for him before was not herself!
Kyle's face darkened, ignoring his smug sister. He casually grabbed a member of the team who passed by, "Coach SΓΉ, I'll go first." β
"Oh. The other party agreed.
Lola was a little anxious, and pressed Kyle's hand as she was packing her things: "Why do you have to leave so early?
Kyle pushed his sister's hand away, "I don't feel good, I'm going back first." That's it. Kyle zipped up his backpack and stood up to leave, a young man who was unusually consistent in his words and deeds!
"Wait!" Lola frowned, she couldn't seem to figure out what her brother was thinking for a moment, "at least let me introduce my new friend first!"
Kyle then spotted the three people standing on the side, and looked at his sister suspiciously, "Who are they?"
"This is Alice! They're Alice's brother. Lola took the opportunity to stand beside Benjamin and desperately gave her brother a look: "This is Benjamin." Of course, Lola missed Zack, which was not surprising, and Zach suspected that the girl had not even remembered her name!
Apparently Kyle didn't grasp his sister's intentions, but looked at Zach with some distraction.
Zach smiled and took out his sunglasses and put them on: "Don't forget to wear your seatbelt." β
Kyle remembered that this was the person who had reminded him of traffic safety on the road. But Kyle apparently thought of something else, and his body shuddered involuntarily, took a step back, didn't say anything, and rushed out of the break room with his head down.
"Kyle!" Lola looked at her brother who ran away with some annoyance, "What's wrong with this guy today?"
Kyle's departure left Lola unsure of what to do, and she looked around at the young men who were still excited and chatting with each other, ignoring her.
"Lola. Where did Kyle go?"
"He's just gone......" Lola replied subconsciously, turning around to see the person questioning, it was 'Connor'. Lola's face turned indifferent: "What's the matter with you!"
Connor's expression didn't change, "I had something I wanted to say to him, but he kept avoiding me. β
"But he! has nothing to say to you!" Lola has turned back into the sister who was unhappy with her brother, "I! I have nothing to say to you!" Lola grabbed the trembling Alice, "Let's go!"
This was the first time Alice had taken the initiative to cooperate with Lola's actions, and the two girls rushed out of the lounge in the blink of an eye.
Zach's eyes shifted away from Connor, and he frowned at Benjamin, who looked at him with the same frown. The two of them could not communicate any more because-
"Benjamin, Alice's other brother, keep up!" called Lola......
Lola made a mistake. When she goes to the break room to see Kyle, she misses the school bus. Then after Kyle inexplicably walks away first, she loses her own transportation home!
"I think Benjamin would be happy to send you back. Zach chuckled and patted the helpless werewolf.
"Really?" Lola looked at Benjamin, "Thank you, Benjamin!"
In this way, the granddaughter of the founder of Barton City got into Benjamin's dilapidated and sludge-covered van.
"Lola. Zach took off his sunglasses and looked at the girl sitting with Alice in the back seat, "Now, it will take some time to get to your house, why don't you tell us what kind of person Connor, the captain of the Beavers, is?"
Lola's vision was only two red dots, and her eyes were confused for a moment, but they immediately became clear. I don't know why, she suddenly has a desire to gossip about that nasty scumbag!
"Captain, hmph, that guy doesn't deserve to be a captain! Alice, let me tell you, you must not look good at him......"
Zach put on his sunglasses again and motioned to Alice, who was looking bitter: 'Study hard~'
In Lola's whimsical narrative, vampires and werewolves listen carefully to the standard high school gossip as they judge, judge, judge what 'Connor' is still functioning normally.
In this world, there are not many things that can still walk in the world after death, well, there are not a lot. Vampires, Ghouls, Zombies...... Zach doesn't want Alice's first friend to be in danger, so he wants to make sure that this Connor is not a threat to Lola.
Perhaps Zach also has some selfish intentions, Lola is the granddaughter of the Barton family, and the vampires don't want the family of the city's founders to be unsuspectingly exposed to other aliens. Because Barton City is not a place where other aliens can have fun, but Zack's backyard, the backyard of Grande's house!
Zach remembered the old lady who had suddenly accosted Benjamin at Mrs. Quinn's funeral. After the funeral, Zach dug through the decades-old newspaper and found the old lady's name, Selena Patton.
Perhaps Mrs. Barton would not have imagined that they would meet again so soon.
