Chapter 1017 - Railway Project (2)
Guangning, the Ming Dynasty belonged to the command of the Liaodong Metropolitan Mission, was the highest military and political organ of the Ming Dynasty in the Northeast, and was the base for the management of the Jurchens in the Northeast.
At the end of the Ming Dynasty, the Houjin rose, and Guangning City was a place where soldiers competed.
After the Far East destroyed the Later Jin regime, it was across the river from the Guanning army on the other side of the Daling River. As a result, Bac Ninh became a military center in the Far East, where the headquarters of a garrison brigade of the Northeast Field Army of the Far Eastern Army was located.
As an extension of the Northeast Railway Line, the railway of Shenyang-Fuxin Town-Chaoyang Town-Chifeng Town has been under intense construction. The railway through Bac Ninh town has been built and will be opened to traffic soon. At present, the railway station of Beining Town is under intense construction, and the railway from Shenyang to Chifeng adopts two-way construction, and most of the construction period has been completed.
A train slowly drove into the unfinished Quang Ninh Railway Station, and the officers and soldiers of the Far East on duty walked up one after another, opened the stuffy tank cars one by one, and jumped out of the carriages A large number of Japanese foreign laborers.
They were all newly trained laborers from Japan, who took a boat all the way to Liaodong and then took a train to Quang Ninh. Each tanker was so stuffed with people that it was difficult to even turn around, and the air could not circulate at all, so the conditions were extremely difficult.
One by one, the tired Japanese foreign laborers formed a formation directly on the platform, and continued to walk north in units of squadrons, brigades, and detachments, rushing to the railway construction site in front.
There is a small marshalling yard at Quang Ninh railway station, where one train after another trains come to unload foreign laborers, and then enter the marshalling yard and turn around and roar away. At present, all the railway projects under construction in the Far East are constructed by double-track railways.
Although the amount of work has increased a lot, in the long run, the level of capacity is not comparable to that of a single-track railway. At the beginning, the main artery of the Northeast Railway from Shenyang to Vladivostok was single-track railway, mainly because the company occupied Liaodong and urgently needed the support of Vladivostok. In order to meet the construction deadline, the construction can only be accelerated.
At that time, some supporting facilities were not very perfect, and the stations, communication systems, and even coal and water supply points along the way were very tight, and the main purpose was to open the whole line to traffic as soon as possible. Most of the supporting facilities that were not equipped at that time were gradually built after the opening of traffic.
In the past few years, the main artery of the Northeast Railway has been completed and opened to traffic, with the development of the company getting faster and faster. The disadvantages of single-track railways are becoming more and more obvious, and the transportation pressure is becoming more and more intense. Therefore, the railway department has also been building a double line on this northeast artery to ensure the smooth logistics from Vladivostok to Shenyang.
At present, one-third of the double-track project of the main railway artery has been built, and the remaining double-track railway is under intense construction, once the northeast railway artery double-track railway is opened to traffic, the transportation capacity will inevitably increase exponentially.
The company's railway department is now mobilizing forces, and all branches of the main artery of the Northeast Railway are under intense construction. A large number of foreign laborers are scattered all over the railway construction sites, getting up early and working late to carry out construction work.
The foreign laborers who disembarked from Quang Ninh were formed in squadrons and brigades along both sides of the railway line that had already been built. Carrying various construction tools, they marched forward mightily.
From time to time, a train loaded with sleepers, gravel and rails whizzed past them, unloading supplies at the construction site ahead, and then reversing back to Quang Ninh Railway Station empty, turning around at the marshalling yard and heading for Shenyang.
At the end of the railway is the construction site, which is full of hot scenes, and if you look down from the air, you will see a spectacular scene. Dense crowds of foreign laborers are busy on this railway site, and a railway site stretches far away. You can't see the edge.
At the end of the railway line, all kinds of railway materials are piled up, and foreign laborers carry steel rails and sleepers, shouting in unison, and walking forward with difficulty. They shouted in their hometown accents, which sounded a little strange. But the effect is not bad.
Each section of steel is lifted to the end of the railroad and falls on the already laid sleepers, and then a large number of foreign workers swarm up and pick up sledgehammers to secure the rails to the sleepers.
The railway line stretches forward meter by meter, and countless foreign workers rely on their shoulders to carry it. Or horses, carriages, carts, and other primitive human and animal power work day and night, day after day.
The site is flanked by a continuous stream of tents, which are temporary camps for foreign workers. In order to motivate foreign workers, the company hired a large number of women from Japan and Nanyang to help in the railway construction sites of foreign workers.
On weekdays, they help the migrant workers with cooking, washing clothes, and other tasks that they can, but at night and holidays, the cooks and washerwomen are instantly transformed into fragrant dumplings, and there is a long line in front of their tents, one by one.
Originally, foreign workers were provided with only three meals, as well as daily necessities such as overalls, hats, gloves, shoes and socks. With the continuous influx of a large number of foreign workers, the number of foreign workers in various parts of Liaodong has been staggering.
In order to maintain the stability of the foreign labor force, the company also issues some work tickets every day according to their workload. These tickets are not the same as the legal tender sub-votes in the Far East, and are only used in foreign worker camps.
The migrant workers can use these tickets to exchange for goods such as alcohol, tobacco, sugar cubes, cakes, canned meat jerky, etc., at the supply and marketing points in the camp, which can be used by the migrant workers to satisfy their daily pastime.
The prices of these goods that can be exchanged are relatively high, and they can't be exchanged for much in a month, so it is right to relieve the emotions of these foreign workers. And the quality of the goods is very rough and inferior. A lot of them are expired and substandard products.
Only construction sites with harsh environments and dangers such as railways and mines can enjoy such treatment. Because the workload of these construction sites is too large, and most of them are barren mountains and mountains, the nature of the work is also relatively dangerous.
Of course, the most popular program is still these part-time women on the construction site, who cook and wash clothes during the day, and take jobs at night to earn extra money, and they live very nourishingly. The price tags for these programs are so high that even the most capable foreign workers can only visit a few times a month.
But these foreign workers almost all spent their tickets on this program, even if they worked hard during the day, once they had saved enough tickets, and after eating at night, the first thing they did was to wait in line outside those tents early.
Although they are not young, their appearance is very average, and most of their figures are out of shape, they are very popular with foreign workers. Every night is a booming business. Although the work tickets paid by the foreign workers are high, their income is not high, and they can only exchange some goods with the work tickets in their hands.
But these part-time washerwomen and cooks are very satisfied, anyway, they eat and drink for nothing every day, and they have extra money to earn, so they live very quickly, and many people are reluctant to leave after working for a few years. Many women send parcels containing various supplies to their hometowns every month, and many of them from Japan and North Korea have volunteered to come here and work as cooks and washesses to make life more comfortable at home.
