Chapter 545: The Northbound Army
After the Spring Festival, the Far Eastern Group also entered the final stage of preparation for the northbound plan. Lin Hua, chief of the General Staff Department, has also drawn up a perfect operational plan, and the Central Military Commission has convened several military meetings one after another to continuously study and discuss various details of the operational plan.
The Central Military Commission set up the headquarters of the Beishang Group Army, with commander Li Ming, political commissar Li Yukun, director of the political department Ma Qing, chief of staff Lin Hua, and deputy commanders Song Tao, Qiang Quansheng, Gao Qiang, and Hao Changfeng.
The main cavalry units of the northbound group army are the six brigades of the six ancient cavalry corps of Mongolia and the brigade of the indigenous cavalry corps of the outer northeast. The main assault force consisted of a field division, four overseas brigades, and a large number of combat logistics support detachments, which followed the main cavalry units in combat.
Among them, the engineer regiment directly under the Central Military Commission and the engineer regiment under the jurisdiction of the field division jointly formed an engineer detachment. A motorized detachment consisting of six BTR-60 armored vehicles, 50 UAZ-469 jeeps, 30 UAZ-452 light off-road vehicles, 80 KAMAZ military trucks, and more than 200 agricultural tricycles.
A large number of logistical maintenance personnel mobilized from various localities have jointly formed a maintenance detachment. These personnel came from the various units of the Military Commission and the War Department, and even a large number of personnel were mobilized from the Admiralty.
The Central Military Commission also transferred a large number of political workers from various localities, and the political and political departments of the Beishang Group Army began to set up political work detachments. The main task of the plan to go north this time was to eliminate the Nayan nobles on the grassland and win the support of the vast number of poor herdsmen.
A logistics detachment composed of 30 Russian-style military tankers, more than 100 trucks, and thousands of four-wheeled and two-wheeled horse-drawn carriages. Twelve Type 2B11 120-mm mortars, twenty-four Type 2B14 82-mm mortars, and six newly developed Type 35 12-barreled 107-mm rocket launchers formed the artillery detachment.
Because the grasslands are vast and boundless, as soon as the battle begins, the various units will carry out large-depth and large-scale interspersed operations. Communication on the battlefield has become a top priority. In order to strengthen the liaison between the various units, the Central Military Commission has transferred a large number of communications units from various localities to strengthen them to the grassroots units to ensure the smooth communication of the units participating in the war.
In addition to the main force, the auxiliary units of the Beishang Group Army are also being formed in a hurry, and the winter training of Mongolian herdsmen has basically ended. The Military Commission selected a group of winter training activists who were good at doing so, and formed 20 Mongolian militia brigades, each with six battalions and a total of 3,000 men.
The militia brigades were relatively simple in their armament, with two Mongol horses per man and traditional scimitars and bows and arrows, and their main task was to assist the Mongol cavalry corps in battle, collecting prisoners and booty.
In addition, several logistical support brigades have been formed. The members of each brigade are Mongolian youths and women, who will be subordinate to the logistics detachment. The main task is to escort the logistics materials of the main force, provide logistical support for the main force, and be responsible for waiting for the captured cattle, sheep and horses.
The Central Military Commission has also mobilized a large number of indigenous militias from the Outer Northeast and formed 10 Indigenous Militia Brigades with a total of 30,000 people. Four Mongolian horses each, armed with modified front-loading smoothbore muskets, sabers, and bows and arrows. The main task was to assist the Outer Northeast Indigenous Cavalry Brigade in combat.
The Air Force Department of the Central Military Commission will send a delta wing detachment, an unmanned aerial vehicle detachment, and an aircraft detachment to participate in the northbound plan and provide support for the northbound group army.
The delta wing detachment sent ten delta wing aircraft and marched with the main forces. Ready to assemble to provide front-line air support. The UAV detachment sent ten quadcopter UAVs to provide aerial reconnaissance alert for the main forces. The airship detachment sent two Type 35 medium-sized four-engine airships. Sixteen Type 32 twin-engine small airships provide all-round air support for the main forces.
The inland river detachment of the Admiralty of the Central Military Commission will dispatch hundreds of inland river steam class A barges to provide all-round logistical support for the northbound group army. In addition, two landing craft of the Admiralty and dozens of speedboats and assault boats will also take part in the battle of the northward plan.
At the same time, the Military Commission also began to reorganize all Mongolian herdsmen who participated in the winter training, starting with the selection of Mongolian militia. All of the selected Mongolian herders were active in the winter training and were young and strong between the ages of 13 and 40.
They will undergo a two-month intensive training session to be taught by instructors drawn from various units of the Military Commission. The Mongol cavalry corps will also send a part of the backbone to assist the instructors of the Military Commission in managing these Mongol cavalry.
The political work detachment of the group army in the north will also send a large number of political workers. Strengthen the political and work forces of these 20 Mongolian militia brigades. The mission of the Mongolian militia brigade is also to collect the prisoners on the steppe on the basis of assisting the main cavalry in the battle, and to strengthen the political work detachment of the Mongolian militia brigade, which is also convenient for the ideological education of the Mongolian herdsmen and the transformation of them on the spot.
After the selection of the Mongolian militia brigade has been completed, the remaining Mongolian young men and women between the ages of 13 and 50 will all be organized into several logistics support brigades, and they will be organized by the logistics detachment of the Beishang Group Army for two months of intensive training. They will also be armed with horses, scimitars, and bows and arrows.
They will also be responsible for the thousands of four-wheeled and two-wheeled horse-drawn carriages of the logistics detachment, and they will be responsible for transporting the land supplies of the entire northbound group army. And they are also responsible for taking care of the captured cattle, sheep and horses.
The Far East Company will also carry out a general mobilization in the Outer Northeast and form six brigades of the indigenous militia in the Outer Northeast. After the news of the Far East Company's sweep of Liaodong reached the Outer Northeast, those large local tribes migrated north and east, and they were afraid that the Far East would deal with them next.
However, those small tribes have joined the Far East Company, and some natives of the large tribes have rushed to Shuangchengzi with their families and begged the Far East to take them in.
Over the past few years, the Far East's territory in the outer northeast has expanded several times, and it has taken control of all the areas around Xingkai Lake. In addition, the vast areas of the Khurha River basin, the Songhua River and its tributaries, and part of the Aso River have all been controlled by the Vladivostok Military Region of the Far Eastern Company.
The large and medium-sized tribes in these areas either migrated, annexed, or were wiped out. There are already hundreds of thousands of natives under the rule of the Far East. Many poor natives traveled thousands of miles to the Far East with their families.
Nearly 100,000 indigenous militiamen have undergone regular winter training in the Vladivostok Military District, and nearly 20,000 were selected from the Outer Northeast Indigenous Cavalry Corps last year. The mountain brigade also selected more than 20,000 for the formation of the Korean Legion.
However, in this year's winter training, 80,000 more indigenous militia members were selected, and 30,000 were selected from among the senior militia members to form 10 other northeastern indigenous militia brigades.
The natives of the Outer Northeast, who belonged to the Far East Company, had already provided 70,000 troops to the Far East in two years. Even so, in order to compete for these places, all the indigenous militias broke their heads and tried to squeeze in.
These indigenous people from the Outer Northeast who belong to the Far East Company have been in the Far East Holding District for several years, and their lives have changed dramatically. Every time the Far Eastern Company mobilized, it responded positively. (To be continued......)
