Chapter 27: Prelude (7)

"When throwing a grenade, you have to use your upper arm hard and throw it outward, and your body movement can't be so big."

"The first action of aiming is to press the butt of the gun against the shoulder, and you must hold the shoulder first."

"Don't pout your butt when doing push-ups, your stomach will sink."

On the training ground, the commanders kept correcting the soldiers' wrong movements, although the voices may have been a little faster, but no one really got angry, let alone scolded. The young soldiers carried out physical training according to the commander's orders, and under the large-scale exercise training, everyone was red and sweaty.

Even as the political commissar of the division, Gu Lu did not relax his requirements for himself. The sports science major of the Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Army is engaged in scientific training. After a huge number of accumulations and practical observations, a basic daily training volume has been formulated. Commanders at all levels, including Gu Lu, had to complete this workload every day during military training.

100 sit-ups first, followed by 100 push-ups. In between, it's a leg press, split, and 30 pull-ups, followed by a 3,000-meter run. Gu Lu had to complete this amount of exercise with her comrades every morning exercise, and then took a cold shower before starting to work.

Once the Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Army crossed the Yellow River, it was tantamount to officially showing its offensive posture to Beiyang. Although the Yellow River is not as dangerous as the Yangtze River, it is not a small ditch. Including supplies, logistics are extremely dependent on the Jinghan Railway. As for the safety of the railway bridge across the Yellow River, it cannot be ignored. This means that security forces along the railway must be present to ensure a minimum level of security.

"Political Commissar Gu, when will you hit the second town of Beiyang?" The comrades of the division's political department were anxious to know the next military plan.

"The Yellow River hasn't crossed yet, so you want to fight Anyang?" Gu Lu said with a smile.

"Political Commissar Gu, the soldiers are in high spirits after visiting their relatives this time. Speaking of defeating the second town of Beiyang, the newly recruited comrades were in high spirits. "At the meeting of the divisional political commissars, the political commissars at all levels were very optimistic.

"Then I would like to ask, in addition to the desire to repay the kindness, how much progress have the comrades made in class consciousness?" Gu Lu asked.

"Down with the Beiyang exploiting class and liberate the whole of Henan. We are preaching these truths. A company instructor said loudly.

Gu Lu smiled bitterly after hearing this, Beiyang is the government and a member of the exploiting class, but Beiyang is really not worthy of being called the exploiting class. Even the political philosophy of the instructors is still not clear enough, which is really not good news. But Gu Lu himself knew very well that he was at the same level as this instructor more than a year ago. When entering Henan, Gu Lu's 4407th Division had now been expanded into the 504th Army, which had expanded from more than 20,000 people to 100,000 troops. Gu Lu also changed from the political commissar of the division to the political commissar of the 504th Army and the political commissar of the 4407th Division. Even if it is supplemented by many commanders in other base areas, it is still an illusion to expect that the overall quality of the troops will be greatly improved while expanding at a rapid pace.

Originally, the People's Party planned to cross the Yellow River in May 1914, but the quality of the troops deteriorated so much after the expansion that this plan had to be changed to after the summer harvest in June. However, after the summer harvest in June 1914, the preparations of the troops were still not completed. As a result of the large-scale investment of the troops in the vicinity of the various garrisons, they helped the rural people, especially the military families and state farms to harvest. The whole training program was delayed again. So on July 1, 1914, the troops finally decided to cross the Yellow River after August.

Just as Gu Lu was about to assign work to his comrades, the guards ran in. "Political Commissar Gu, Secretary Zhang and Commander Chai order you to immediately put down all the work in your hands and immediately go to the provincial party committee for a meeting!" After speaking, the guard handed over an order to Gu Lu.

Gu Lu was full of wonders what was going on to hold such an urgent meeting. When they rushed to the gate of the provincial party committee, they found that there was no sign of a large-scale assembly of comrades. Even after entering the provincial party committee, I did not see the number of people who cooperated with such an order. In fact, there were only six people who came to attend the meeting, Zhang Yu and Chai Qingguo were naturally there, Yang Guigui, political commissar of the Henan Military Region, Gu Lu, political commissar of the 504th Army, and Lu Zhonglin, commander of the 504th Army, also attended the meeting, but the other was that Gu Lu did not expect Kang Dingyong, director of the Henan branch of the People's Internal Affairs Committee.

Even though Zhang Yu looked indifferent, he already looked excited at the moment. "The central government ordered that from now on, you can let go of the operation against Beiyang and foreign devils."

This news frightened the other comrades present at the meeting. Up to now, the Party Central Committee has not so openly expressed its hostility to foreign devils. Chai Qingguo and Gu Lu still knew Chen Ke's worries and expectations, and the other three comrades didn't expect such a huge change in the situation at all.

"Secretary Zhang, what's wrong?" Yang Guigui, political commissar of the Henan Military Region, asked in surprise.

Zhang Yu's eyes lit up, "A few days ago, June 28. The Austrian prince was killed by a bomb in Sarajevo. The Central Committee of the Party believed that the war in Europe would not be long before it began. Once the war in Europe began, it would naturally be impossible for the British and French to wage direct war against our base areas. Since it is impossible for them to let go of their hands to beat us, we can naturally let go of our hands to clean up this group of foreign devils! ”

"Secretary Zhang, is this judgment under Chairman Chen?" Yang is very concerned about this critical issue. After Chen Ke wrote the book "Killing Cixi", Yang Guigui was still a division commander, and he accompanied Chen Ke to meet Feng Xu and Shen Zengzhi, and at that time he no longer had any doubts about Chen Ke's strategic judgment.

Zhang Yu handed a telegram to Yang Guigui. The content of the message is exactly what Zhang Yu said, and the last signature is Chen Ke. Seeing this signature, Yang Guigui was completely relieved. "Then how is the central government going to let us fight?"

"Regardless of whether the troops are ready or not, they will drop a division to cross the Yellow River first." Zhang Yu replied.

While Zhang Yu was making strategic instructions at the party committee, Chen Ke also convened a meeting of the Central Committee. The heaviness that had been pressing on Chen Ke's heart for months in a row was swept away. As long as the first battle starts, Chen Ke can determine who the enemy in front of him is. I have to admit that even though he tried his best to build relations with the United States, Chen Ke still did not dare to really offend the British. Knowing that China's worst enemy finally had no time to look eastward, Chen Ke's mood was as relaxed as if he had planted wings.

The comrades of the Central Committee could also see Chen Ke's feelings, and a large number of cadres of the People's Party went abroad for inspection the year before and last year, and they were able to understand some of the basic situation in Europe. Germany and Austria were allies, and the Princes of Odidy were killed by bombs, and war was inevitable.

More detailed information had reached the base areas by telegram in the last few days, and at the end of 1912, in the First Balkan War, the Balkan League drove out the Turks. But when the terms of the peace treaty were agreed, the European powers each sided with one side, almost expanding the war into a war between the European powers. Serbia, in order to gain access to the Adriatic sea, demanded access to northern Albania. Austria-Hungary opposed it with the support of Germany and Italy, and Russia and France supported it with all their might. Russia and Austria have both carried out partial mobilization, and the situation is extremely tense. However, Russia, considering its weak forces and poor combat readiness, had to make concessions to Germany and Austria. The Balkan question was submitted to the International Conference for discussion. In December 1912, the Peace Conference was held in London, and at the same time a meeting of the ambassadors of Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Germany, and Austria was convened. At the meeting of ambassadors, the Entente supported the Balkan League, and the Allies supported Turkey. At this time, a sudden coup d'état in Turkey brought to power, and the negotiations broke down when the pro-German government refused to give up the Adriatic with the support of Germany. On February 3, 1913, the Balkan League resumed military operations, and in March the Artreop was captured, and Turkey had to sue for peace again. The London Conference resumed in May, and the belligerents signed a peace treaty. Turkey ceded all of its territory west of the Inos-Mytuya line to the Balkan states, leaving only a small area near Istanbul. After a long struggle, the Albanian people finally gained their independence.

Disagreements arose among the Balkan Confederation countries over the distribution of the results of the war, and quarrels ensued. Since Bulgaria had received the most land, Serbia demanded that Bulgaria give it part of Macedonia, Greece demanded southern Macedonia and Western Thrace, and Negoro also wanted to get part of the land from Bulgaria, and even Romania, which was not part of the alliance, asked Bulgaria for South Dobroga, but Bulgaria refused. Turkey also wants to take advantage of the opportunity to recapture the Eastern Thrace region. As a result, these countries with territorial claims united against Bulgaria. The Central Powers tried to undermine the Balkan Alliance, while the Entente openly sided with Greece and other powers. On 1 June 1913, Serbia and Greece signed an anti-Bulgarian alliance, which Romania joined in the alliance. Bulgaria, in order to preemptively strike, first declared war on Serbia on June 29. Montenegro and Turkey soon joined the anti-Bulgarian war. Bulgaria suffered defeat in the war. On 10 August, the two sides signed a peace treaty in Bucharest, Romania, which received South Dobroga, Serbia most of Macedonia, and Greece South Macedonia, Western Thrace, and the island of Richt. Turkey took advantage of the infighting in the Balkan countries to reoccupy Adrianople.

The two Balkan wars gave impetus to the national movement of the Slavs in Bosnia and Herzegovina under Austro-Hungarian rule, who demanded merger with Serbia to form a greater Serbian state. Austria-Hungary was categorically opposed to the expansion of Serbia and decided to annex Serbia. The conflict in Austria and Serbia was bound to give rise to a conflict between Austria and Russia and between the Central and Entente powers. The Balkans have become the focal point of contradictions among the European powers and the powder keg of Europe.

On June 28, 1914, Archduke Ferdinand, Crown Prince of Austria-Hungary, took part in and commanded a military exercise. The exercises were held in Bosnia, controlled by Austria-Hungary, with neighboring Serbia as an imaginary enemy. A secret Serbian organization sent several killers to ambush the city of Sarajevo and prepare to assassinate them. After the exercise, the Ferdinands entered the city in an open-top car, and an Assassin threw a bomb at the car, which was blown up into a fireball.

Franz 61 Ferdinand's assassination in Sarajevo was used by the two major military blocs that were pushing the war. The Austro-Hungarian militarists shouted loudly, "draw your sword and aim it at Serbia" to completely destroy the obstacles to Austria-Hungary's domination of the Balkans. A Viennese newspaper wrote: "For six years we have been waiting for the final outbreak of all serious tensions...... We want war because this is the belief of our hearts. Our ideal can only be realized by a war, in a radical and sudden way: it is a strong Austria. The day after the incident, the head of the Austro-Hungarian General Staff, Hertzendorf, and the foreign minister, Bechdold, both believed that the time had come to "solve the Serbian question" and demanded an immediate military mobilization and a declaration of war on Serbia. But they were also worried about Russian intervention, so they asked Kaiser Wilhelm for help.

The BJP did not know at this time that the bomb had a great deal to do with the BJP. As a result of the development of ammonia synthesis technology, the production of nitro high explosives in the BJP surged. Chen Ke liked chemistry since he was a child, perhaps because of the nature of boys, or Chen Ke himself had a fan social tendency at that time, anyway, he was once very keen on the research of illegal chemical stimulants and explosives. The BJP produced good gum explosives. In addition to being used in various mines and projects in China, some are even sold to India.

Merchants all over the world are virtuous, and in order to make a profit, a small part of colloidal explosives was actually sold from India to the Balkans. During the investigation of the assassination, a small piece of iron with the words "MadeinChina" written on it was found from the wreckage of the crown prince's car. That was the trademark adopted by the BJP on all colloidal explosives.
