Chapter 108: Suppression
The Chinese occupied the Philippines, but that did not mean that they had been able to gain a foothold in the Philippines
Under the long-term occupation and colonization of the Americans, many Filipinos have been brainwashed and willing to act as accomplices of the Americans, and when the Chinese arrived, it was these people who were the first to "resist".
Riots finally began to break out.
A former colonel of the Philippine Army named Abitana led the Filipino insurrection in his brigade on December 30, 1940, not long after the Squadron occupied the Philippines.
With the riots came repression!
Resolute and complete repression!
Immediately, the Chinese government appointed General Sun Lianzhong as the supreme military commander of the Philippines, responsible for the suppression of the Philippine rioters!
Abitana, the leader of the rioters, made all kinds of rude demands to the Chinese, such as allowing the Philippines to become independent, but this was firmly rejected by the Chinese government!
The only thing the rioters have to do is to lay down the weapons in their hands and surrender unconditionally to the squadron, and other than that, the Chinese government refuses to accept any form of demand!
In the face of the Chinese government, any ideals and efforts of the Filipinos can only be wishful thinking.
At the beginning of the uprising, Sun Lianzhong asked the Nanjing authorities: "Is the government going to use all means to make these natives submit to our authority?" ”
President Wang Hengyue immediately replied without hesitation: "The insurgents must recognize our authority; You may use whatever means are necessary to achieve the above ends, as you see fit. ”
With this "Shang Fang Sword", Sun Lianzhong and others understood it and began to launch a large-scale military extermination operation against the Philippine rioters without any scruples.
The Chinese Navy has blocked the Philippines' maritime communications, thus cutting off the foreign aid channels on which the Filipino insurgents depend.
But it was the guerrilla warfare of the rioters that caused a headache. In fact, for any occupier, the guerrilla warfare of the insurrectionists is always a headache and frustration, no matter how strong the occupier's national strength is and how strong the army is!
The natives who participated in the uprising, they knew the terrain, they knew where to attack, they knew where to flee, but as occupiers, they were completely unfamiliar with everything.
The squadron became increasingly mired in guerrilla warfare, and could not extricate itself for a long time. //**//
At the beginning of 1941, Sun Lianzhong made the following report to the Nanjing government: There were rebels on every island in the entire archipelago. They undoubtedly have the support of the local population. In other words, the towns, although nominally occupied and administered by China, were in fact rebel bases, not only in the sense that they supplied the guerrillas, but also provided them with refuge. At present, the highest tactic of the Philippine army is to disband immediately when the squadron is attacked, and avoid nearby towns. They succeeded in this because the people supported them, and because once they had blended in with the population, no one knew whether they were guerrillas or civilians.
Nanjing replied quickly. With the support of the Nanjing government, in October 1941, Sun Lianzhong announced the implementation of the "General Order No. 009", stipulating:
"War should be fought in a regular form between uniformed troops; But the guerrillas do not deserve mercy and should be sent to concentration camps, exiled or put to death; If the commander is 'militarily necessary, he may take all necessary measures to carry out' retaliation. ”
At the same time, in order to make up for the Chinese's innate deficiencies in local language, customs and topography, Sun Lianzhong recruited a large number of pro-Chinese Filipinos to serve as the eyes and ears of the people.
By February 1941, he had 6,000 Filipino scouts and 1,000 Filipino police officers on paramilitary duty.
Under his personal chairmanship, the Army set up a military intelligence service to improve knowledge of the guerrilla patterns of activity and to transmit intelligence data in a timely manner. He also asked the navy to step up patrols and do everything possible to cut off the rebels' communication links between the islands and the import of weapons from overseas. …,
In mid-February, Sun Lianzhong finally found out about Abitana's whereabouts, and immediately sent a major with 600 soldiers to pursue him, and ordered him to catch them all and eradicate them.
After receiving the information, Abitana had no choice but to lead the headquarters personnel to transfer in a hurry. At the critical moment, he handed over the responsibility of covering to Major Gantra, whom he trusted.
The battle began at Lazikou. Gantra led 60 fighters to resist the attack to the death, finally buying time for the safe transfer of headquarters. In the end, all 60 Philippine soldiers were killed, and Gantra committed suicide after being seriously wounded.
The international community is also protesting against everything that condemns the squadron in the Philippines, but now the Chinese government has nothing to worry about.
The Chinese have declared war on Britain, France on France, and the United States, who will heed their protests?
The so-called protest is only a means for the weak, and it is undoubtedly scratching the itch in the boot, and it cannot shake the confidence and proposition of the Chinese in the slightest. Any hope of stopping the war with the Philippines has come to naught.
Sun Lianzhong saw this moment and immediately began to implement a tougher policy.
After repeated brutal encirclement and suppression, the space for the rioters to operate became narrower and narrower, and their situation became more and more difficult.
Abitana led his command to hide in Tibet, starving and cold, with little place to hide, and fearing for his life. In March 1941, a company commander under Sun Lianzhong, with the cooperation of several Filipino helpers, finally captured Abitana.
A month later, the exhausted Abitana, lured by Sun Lianzhong's threats, was forced to issue a statement expressing his acceptance of Chinese rule and calling on his patriots to end the resistance.
The move marked the end of organized resistance by the Filipinos.
However, the Filipino guerrillas everywhere did not immediately lay down their arms.
In particular, Mardar's troops, which are operating in Batangas, and Lukban, another unit that has lost ground in Sama, are still holding high the banner of righteousness and holding on to resistance, inflicting heavy blows on the occupying forces from time to time. Enraged, Sun Lianzhong decided to use all means to eliminate these two rebel armies as soon as possible.
A rare massacre began.
As for what exactly the Holocaust took shape? No one knew, but several reports on the massacre were put in front of the President of the Republic of China, Wang Hengyue.
In these reports it says:
General Sun Liren, who was ordered to sweep Samar Island, once asked his subordinates with a cold face: "I want you to kill and burn, and the more people you kill, the more satisfied I will be." I want to kill all those who can wear weapons and are hostile to China! ”
It didn't take long for all the adult men and women on the island to be slaughtered, and all the farmhouses and crops were reduced to ashes.
Another squadron commander in charge of Batangas, Qi Youdao, commander of the 1st Regiment of the Chinese Airborne Forces, issued a declaration to his subordinates: "The innocent will inevitably suffer, this is the inevitable consequence of war!" “
As a result, everywhere the squadron under his command passed, all the bones were like mountains of bones and blood flowed wildly.
One of the reports attracted Wang Hengyue's special attention:
̈ If the torture I mentioned above is 18 levels of hell, then waterboarding can be said to be 19 levels of hell. The captured native was pressed to the ground, and his limbs were tightly tied with his head facing the sky so that he could be easily watered. It's impossible to keep your mouth shut because there are bamboo chopsticks through your nostrils that make it impossible for you to shut up. Now the irrigation began, and the poor man had to struggle, but it was in vain. One kilogram is a lot, but then the second kilogram, the third kilogram. At this time, the body of the inmate was simply bursting, but the estimate was incorrect, because then the fourth kilogram and the fifth kilogram came. At this time, the body is no longer the body. In such a situation, of course, it is impossible to speak. So, the release of water began. If you are lucky, the water release can be done naturally. But most of them use pressure. One of the native soldiers said to me: 'We will step on him and speed up the release of water.' The soldier laughed as he described the action, and was very proud. …,
One soldier told me that he had seen it two or three hundred times with his own eyes, sometimes as many times as high as one day. Another soldier told me that he had seen the rules many times. One officer told me that he had met six times, but he knew more than 200. It's true that all of these things I'm talking about aren't pretty, but they're true! ”
"None of these things have happened, never have."
After reading these reports, Wang Hengyue casually threw them aside: "When we suppressed the rioters, we did encounter serious resistance, but we never suffered abuse or massacres. Not before, and not after. ”
History is always like this, and the truth can always be grasped by a very small number of people. No one can question what the victors ever did one.
In this way, through massacres and bribery, the Chinese occupation forces finally pacified the remaining forces of the Philippine rioters, and the war in the Philippines finally ended.
Everything that ever happened on this island was hidden, there was no massacre, not a single . In Chinese textbooks, it is written:
When the squadron entered the Philippines, it was warmly welcomed by the vast number of forced Filipino people, who complained bitterly and indignantly about what the Americans had done on the island, and chanted the squadron as 'liberators', while the Chinese government and their troops reciprocated the same friendly Filipinos with their friendliness, and most of them became friends with the Filipinos and helped the local area to carry out post-war reconstruction work, which aroused widespread respect among the Filipinos.
That's it, that's it.
History is written by the victors!
