(589) The fire of revenge

Night after night, the battle between the Chinese and Soviet armies continued.

Of course, there are also pains of fear, thirst, hunger and hatred.

Brutal battles turn into tests of human endurance, both on both sides of the war.

For the Soviet soldiers, the Great Patriotic War never gave them a moment of respite.

It was an unusually fierce and brutal battle that they had never experienced before.

As the fighting intensified, the Soviet troops in the Sverdlovsk region were initially encircled in a circle 50 kilometers long from east to west and 30 kilometers wide from north to south.

The 700,000 Soviet officers and soldiers besieged needed at least 2,000 tons of supplies per day. Despite all its efforts, the Soviet Air Force could only airlift 300 tons of supplies per day, and this also required the interception of Chinese fighters, which in fact could only transport less than 100 tons per day. The Soviets received only a slice of bread per day, 1 kilogram of potatoes for 15 people, the horses of the cavalry had been slaughtered, the soldiers drank only snow water, the sick and wounded were dying without care, and everyone was suffering from hunger and cold. The tanks could not be driven due to lack of fuel, the artillery was short of shells, and the soldiers received only 30 rounds of ammunition a day. The number of Soviet casualties has increased year by day, and the combat effectiveness has declined, and in fact, less than 500,000 of the 700,000 horses have combat effectiveness.

At the same time, the encirclement of the Chinese army was gradually shrinking, and everyone had a premonition that the fate of destruction was imminent. The situation is precarious.

"The Chinese are only two miles away from the last site where the plane can take off. When this place is lost, not even a single mouse will want to escape, let alone us! Needless to say, hundreds of thousands of other officers and soldiers also did not want to escape. However, it is a rare small consolation that a person can be destroyed with others...... "A Soviet commissar wrote in a letter to his wife, "I was terrified when I looked at the map. We have fallen into a situation of complete isolation, Comrade Stalin has abandoned us, he has left us alone......"

"When our positions fall, you will hear or see the news in the newspapers. Then you will know that I will not go back. ”

This is the real situation that the Soviet army faced.

Due to the frantic activities of the special forces of the Chinese army, the rear of the Soviet army was thrown into chaos. The armored units carefully bypassed the minefield according to the markers, but broke into a real minefield without any markings. The convoy transporting fuel and ammunition marched according to the command of the officer on duty, but found that it happened to fall into the pocket formation of the Chinese armored unit, because the officer on duty directing the vehicle at the intersection was a Chinese special forces unit in Russian and wearing Soviet uniforms. Two tank divisions of the Soviet 4th Tank Army were ordered to be reinforced by Turbuzhin, but they fell into an ambush circle of the Chinese army and were completely annihilated. However, the main force of the Chinese army took advantage of the chaos of the Soviet army and achieved encirclement in one fell swoop. The Chinese tank group quickly rushed through the key passes of various important bridges seized by the special forces and advanced in depth.

In order to deal with the Soviet army, the Chinese [***] side formed several divisions of troops, called the "Russian Liberation Army", by recruiting volunteers from the original White Russian army, Kazakh troops exiled to China, and descendants of White Russians.

Most of these volunteers have experienced the bullets and have a wealth of combat experience, and are proficient in at least two major European languages, especially English and Russian. After they joined the assault force, the Chinese side gave them highly intensive training.

Through intelligence provided by Army Intelligence, the Department of Homeland Security, and the FBI, this special unit obtained a large amount of special equipment needed to conduct guerrilla warfare, and through double agents in Russia, they obtained large quantities of Russian-made explosives, mines, submachine guns, and radio devices.

After receiving the authorization, the Chinese [***] side formulated the "Snow Wolf Action Plan" to organize commandos to infiltrate behind enemy lines and cooperate with the main forces of the Chinese army to achieve a breakthrough in the rear of the Soviet Union.

According to the plan, some leaders of the Chinese [***] side personally selected several thousand officers and soldiers who could speak Russian and English in this unit called the "Russian Liberation Army" to form a commando team. They also collected Soviet-style clothing, vehicles, tanks, guns and all other items that could prove the identity of the Soviets from the seizures of previous operations, so that the commandos could dress up as a full Soviet army. On the eve of the Chinese army's offensive, this Russian-speaking assault team, wearing Soviet uniforms, carrying Soviet-style submachine guns, Soviet-style jeeps, and Soviet-made tanks, sneaked through the Soviet defense line in the dark of night and penetrated directly into the rear of the Soviet army. Then they dispersed into numerous small detachments and swaggered around in the Soviet defense area. They could cut telephone lines, capture Soviet heralds, move red markers indicating minefields to safe sections of the road without mines, and reverse road signs to lead Soviet reinforcements and supply convoys astray. At the same time, it can also seize important bridges and ferries to meet the main attacking forces of the Chinese army.

With the cooperation of the special forces that infiltrated the rear of the Soviet army, the Chinese army tore through the Soviet defense line within a few days and advanced nearly dozens of kilometers. In the face of the offensive of the Chinese army, the Soviet army was helpless for a while.

The chaos lasted for several days before the Soviet General Staff Headquarters figured out the real cause of the chaos. A Soviet reconnaissance convoy intercepted a Chinese herald at the front line, and found a top-secret document in his briefcase labeling the "Snow Wolf" operation plan, from which it was learned that the current chaos in the Soviet army was caused by Colonel Romanov, who was born in Belarus, and several thousand Russian commandos of the Chinese army under his command.

On the basis of the captured documents, the General Staff Headquarters of the Soviet Army ordered various organizational forces to eliminate the White Russian commandos sent by the Chinese army, but this further caused further confusion in the Soviet army.

These White Russian soldiers in the Chinese army, like the Soviet soldiers, had sunken eyes and high noses, long legs, and a layer of white hair growing on their reddened skin, and there was no abnormality in their appearance, so it was difficult to distinguish them.

To find out thousands of fake Soviet soldiers among the hundreds of thousands of Soviet troops wearing Soviet uniforms and speaking Russian language is tantamount to looking for a needle in a haystack. As a result, not only the Soviet troops in the encirclement, but also the millions of Soviet troops stationed on the front of several hundred kilometers in the rear were also put in danger because of mutual checking.

Every passer-by, no matter which fork or sentry post he has passed, even if he is neatly dressed and has shown his complete rank and identification, will inevitably be interrogated by all kinds of strange interrogations. Even the commander of the Soviet 5th Tank Army, General Lidyukov, was subjected to three strict cross-examinations by Soviet sentry posts in one day, each time he had to answer three different questions about social life. Fortunately, a few passing soldiers recognized him as the commander of the army group, and he was not subjected to further trouble.

On the same day, several hundred Soviet officers and men along the line, including high-ranking officers on urgent duty, were provisionally arrested for failing to answer correctly all sorts of strange questions about social life. After careful examination, none of the hundreds of detained officers and soldiers were Chinese commandos.

The city itself around Sverdlovsk was threatened and affected, and thousands of workers began to build three lines of defense around the city from the west of the city, with the outermost line three hundred miles long. There were already several militia battalions of militia and workers, and their numbers were gradually increasing, as many battalions were still marching into these lines to receive the baptism of war. Although the Soviet Eastern Front has not yet collapsed, it is in fact in a state of extreme confusion. Some divisions had only a few hundred infantry left, and communications, supplies, and transportation were almost completely paralyzed.

And on the way to the hasty retreat of the Soviet troops, the Soviets turned their homeland into a desolate land. Under the silver power of a large number of hysterical Soviet commissars wielding pistols, the Soviet people had to abandon farms, villages and towns. Everything of value was destroyed or burned. Then follow behind the retreating Red Army and weary embark on a long and distant journey. In some parts of the city, wood-framed houses were burned down as a result of explosions and fires, leaving only chimneys, which stood alone. The avenues and trails were crowded with refugees, trucks, carts, agricultural machinery, and cattle, all fleeing the attack of the Chinese army.

Due to the continuous pursuit of the Chinese army, the conditions for the retreat of the Soviet military and civilians were very difficult. The infantry on foot had to march forcibly at a rate of thirty miles at a time. They crossed rough rivers, sometimes through waist-deep wheat fields, and sometimes on barren salt flats. The air suffocated people, the thirst of people and animals, and the storms and flying sand and rocks they had to endure.

The armored and mechanized units of the Soviet army constantly demanded fuel by air, but the air did not meet the needs at all, and as a result, the pace of retreat repeatedly decreased.

The Chinese army broke through the defensive circle of the Soviet army and successfully divided the Soviet army into several parts. The Chinese army pressed forward step by step, and when the Chinese tanks rumbled into the city, they would still be stubbornly resisted by the Soviet army.

After leaving the vast plain, the superiority of the Chinese army's mobile warfare was weakened to a certain extent. When Chinese tanks entered the narrow streets between the dilapidated buildings, they were vulnerable to anti-tank guns and grenades fired overhead. The Soviets changed their tactics, breaking up their troops into small units and throwing their battalions and camps in all directions to fight for every street, every collapsed building, every inch of destroyed urban areas.

The tactics of the Soviet army became sophisticated. Under the onslaught of a superior enemy, the Soviets began to fight either in groups of two or three, or alone. They hid in basements, in bombed-out rubble, and even in bomb craters, and fired at the Chinese army by surprise. The result was a pattern in which the Soviets could occupy a large area with superior forces, but there were always several buildings in the area occupied by Soviet soldiers.

In other places, the Chinese wedge-shaped offensive infiltrated small forces into Soviet lines and established solid "beachheads." In some places, the competition is even more intense, in a building, in a street, on a hill, and the two sides are facing each other half.

At this time, under Rokossovsky's orders, the last reserve of the Soviet army had been assembled and was ready to launch a final countershock against the Chinese army.

"Dear comrades! Dear citizens of the Soviet Union! A berserk enemy has approached our dear city. The bloodthirsty Chinese devil wants to break into our city full of sunshine and disgrace our great motherland. The valiant soldiers of the Red Army are desperately defending every inch of the country! Everywhere there were corpses of the bandits of the East. Let's go build barricades! Let's organize a battle! We used the stones, wood, iron, and old carriages we had at hand to build barricades. We will do everything we can to support you in order to defend the city! Never take a step back! ”

"Hit the enemy hard. The enemy has committed many bestial acts, for the sake of the ruined homeland, for the blood and tears shed by the children, mothers, and wives, to take revenge on the enemy! All those who can take up arms, go to the barricades to defend the city's homeland! ”

The loudspeaker was still playing a certain political commissar's impassioned "Letter to the Soviet People", and when he heard his hoarse shout, many Soviet soldiers just raised their heads with indifferent expressions and did not react at all.

Suddenly, something flew through the sky and caught their attention.

It was something like a meteor with a bright flaming tail, grazing over their heads, hurtling downward!

Major Kostenka, the Soviet commissar, was brushing his teeth, and when he was halfway through his teeth, he suddenly heard a loud whistling sound from the sky.

Major Kostenka ran to the window and looked up at the sky outside, when a loud bang came from behind him.

A huge rocket stuck behind him through the ceiling, wrapped in a lot of mess, so much so that it took him a long time to recognize it before he realized that it was a real large rocket, made in China and authentic. There was a deformed wooden chair on the rocket, which seemed to be grinning at him.

The first time Kostenka saw something like this, he kept backing away in astonishment, his eyes fixed on the rocket, as if the next moment a terrible devil would jump out of it.

Suddenly, he tripped over something, and suddenly fell to the ground, at this moment, a huge rocket exploded directly, and for a moment he felt that he was pierced by something, and he saw countless things flying towards him, and then in the next shock wave, there was a tray from the fifth floor, and he was pulled by one of them in the face, and there was a kitchen knife from the fourth floor, it was really a devastating blow, his head was full of blood, and the last thing that came was like a storm, For a moment he didn't feel any more pain.

Amid the tireless hissing of the rocket's engine, he thought it had probably not completely lost power. He remembered his parents at home, thought about the origin of the rocket, recalled the first half of his life, when he had been working on how to clean the army according to the request of the great Comrade Stalin, and then suddenly a grenade - or a bloody grenade was stuck behind him, and suddenly his body, even his bones and teeth were all gone. He didn't dare to think about his girlfriend who lived on the fifth floor, a beautiful blonde nurse, and he felt as if he had set up the banner of death when he thought about her, and he imagined that his girlfriend was wrapped in a tough material with a rich elastic surname, safe and curvy, like a beautiful mummy...... The lights had gone out, and he felt like he was lying on the dirty floor, the rubble beneath his body was hurting all over his body, and there were people around him who were snorting, but it seemed to be far away from him, maybe very close to him, he thought, maybe I had lost the ability to discern space.

There was a bustling voice outside, nothing more than "Help! "Here I am! He laughed self-deprecatingly, human beings are really imaginative animals, and they can't even cry for help.

So he took a deep breath, as some of them say, a deep breath, and then shouted out his last words in human life, I don't have to "clean" anymore!!

After a while, the rescue team found him lying on the third floor, he had already lost his breath, the rescue team opened him nonchalantly, found the cause of his death, a sharp piece of iron inserted in his heart, until it was pulled out, his heart was still vibrating tirelessly.

The rescue team fell silent, looking at each other, not knowing what kind of expression to make, and finally did not know who it was, and whispered: "Sure enough, the real party members are made of special materials......"

In the end, all that remains is the cold light of the grits in the sun, and the tips of the work...... A sharp and terrifying howl tore through the sky, and several more "monsters" that were exactly the same as just now streaked across the sky, swooping down from the sky to the ground, and the explosion was deafening. Soon, there were large craters and charred debris from the explosion and the bodies of countless victims.

Barracks were razed to the ground, Soviet soldiers scattered and fled, people did not know where to hide from these terrible monsters falling from the sky, and the screams of the wounded and the cries of the crowd echoed.

A rocket landed on the training ground, and the thousands of Soviet soldiers gathered there were unable to dodge, first the rocket engine swept through the crowd, and then the rocket exploded, destroying everything around it, killing more than 1,000 people on the spot and injuring more than 2,000.

The payload of the Sirius rocket is about 3 tons, of which the warhead is equipped with 750 kg of explosives cast from a mixture of 60% ammonium nitrate and 40% TNT (because the heat generated by the friction between the rocket and the atmosphere at high speed limits the use of more powerful high-proportion thermal-sensitive nitroamine explosives). The enormous kinetic energy generated by the rocket body when it touches the ground and the power of the warhead explosion combine to form a large crater about 15 meters deep and 13 to 18 meters in diameter in open ground. If it falls into a densely populated city, it is powerful enough to level a block. The engine combustion chamber is the only component that remains intact after the explosion. Most of the time the combustion chamber would have been half-buried in the ground, but this time, it ejected to the ground under the force of the explosion, as a result of which the big guy weighing 700 kilograms was on a crowded training ground, killing everyone who was unfortunate enough to be on its "flight trajectory".
