Chapter 1121: Deception
Whether or not to follow the example of the Indian Bolshevik Party to launch an uprising was a difficult choice for the Indian National Congress.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the uprising of the Bolshevik Party will never succeed. The British attached great importance to the colony of India, and they would never watch it be lost. Therefore, it is foreseeable that the rebel army of the Bolshevik Party will be encircled and suppressed by the Anglo-Indian Army and even the British Army. They will soon be suppressed. If we were to get involved, we would only be targeted by the British colonizers. It would even undermine the image of peace that we have been building, damage our relationship with the British, and make it impossible for us to take over power from the British by peaceful means. The secretary general of the Congress Party objected.
"But, Your Excellency, Secretary-General. And if the British had not been able to suppress the uprising of the Bolshevik Party? On the contrary, they succeeded? By that time, the whole of India will be under their control. Even we will lose the possibility of existing. Someone else said.
Indeed, many Congress leaders are most worried about this. The British seem to be a bit of a strong outsider. In case they really become useless paper tigers. If the Bolshevik Party really succeeds, the consequences will be troublesome!
"Your Excellency, what do you think?" The Congress party secretary asked.
"Ladies and gentlemen, since everyone has their own opinions, they can't convince each other. I propose that we seek the views of His Excellency Gandhi. If His Excellency Gandhi was in favor of an uprising, then we will launch an uprising. If Lord Gandhi thinks that an uprising will not do anything, then we will maintain the status quo. Jawaharlal Nehru said. In doing so, he apparently left the decision to Gandhi.
The other leaders of the Congress Party had no problem with this. Gandhi had a supreme position and influence in the Congress party. It can be said that Gandhi's words are the golden rule, and no one dares to disobey them. Even if they were all against Gandhi, it would be useless. Those members of the Congress party will definitely remove them from power because of this.
Jawaharlal Nehru then went to Gandhi's residence and asked Gandhi about the problem. The end result was that the Congress remained neutral this time, did not launch an uprising, and did not help the British colonial authorities to suppress the uprising of the Bolshevik Party in India. In addition, if possible, to get as much benefit as possible from the British colonists. Obviously, Gandhi was also not very optimistic about the uprising of the Bolshevik Party in India. He apparently did not think that the untrained workers' pickets, or the poorly trained Anglo-Indian Army, could be compared to the elite British Army. Although, now Britain's national power is declining. However, the dead camel is larger than the horse. Britain's current strength is definitely not something that a colony like India can contend with. The only way out for India was to force the British to compromise by peaceful means.
The situation on the side of the Green League is not as complicated as that of the Congress. Followers of the Green Religion have traditionally been a minority in India. Not only did they have to endure exploitation by the British colonizers, but they were also bullied by the Hindus. So, the uprising of the Bolshevik Party in India gave them new hope. The vast majority of the leaders of the Green League are inclined to use armed uprisings to win independence and establish a state composed entirely of Green Cultists. Originally, they also pinned their hopes on the British colonial authorities taking the initiative to give them independence. But, in retrospect, this is simply not possible. Success is possible only through an armed uprising.
However, for a long time, the Green Church Alliance had no intention of carrying out an armed uprising. So they weren't prepared for that at all. So much so that if you want to start an uprising rashly, the final result is very likely to fail. Therefore, they need to think long-term. On the one hand, it will be interesting to see if the uprising of the Bolshevik Party in India can withstand the counterattack of the British. On the other hand, be well prepared.
In addition, Jinnah, the leader of the Green Religion Alliance, also believes that they should enlist the support of more external forces. Only then will they be able to truly gain independence and be able to resist the pressure of the British and the Hindus.
The day after the uprising in Mumbai, Congress Party President Jawaharlal Nehru and Green League President Jinnah were invited to the Governor's Palace by Viceroy Victor Hope, the Viceroy of India. Governor Victor Hope received them cordially and warmly.
"Welcome, both of you. Both of them are celebrities in India, and the party you lead has a great deal of influence in India. I sincerely hope that you will contribute to the peace, stability and prosperity of India. Governor Victor Hope said with a smile.
"Of course, the present British rule in India seems somewhat unacceptable to you. However, you cannot deny that during the time of British rule in India, India's industry, health, and education were greatly developed. Originally, India was an extremely backward country. Now India, even in the world, can be ranked to a certain position. I assure you. British rule over India will not last long. In fact, the British Colonial Office and the Foreign Office are already planning to return power in India to you in due course. Victor Hope seemed very sincere, as if everything he said was true. In fact, the reason why he said this was entirely to stabilize Jawaharlal Nehru and Jinnah. If the Congress and the Green Church Alliance also launch an armed uprising, they will really be finished. So, as long as he can stabilize them, even if he writes more blank checks, Victor Hope will not frown. It's a big deal, just don't admit it when the time comes.
Jawaharlal Nehru frowned: "Your Excellency, is what you said true?" Will you really be willing to hand over power to us? Obviously, he agrees, this seems unlikely.
"Of course it's true. The British government is a civilized country, and naturally cannot ignore the wishes of the Indian people. It's just that the current situation is still very complicated and involves too many interests. Therefore, even if we want to hand over the power to you, it will be a lot of work that can be done in a short period of time. You should believe in us from the heart that this day will come. "Victor Hope continues to make up lies.
"Well, then, Your Excellency the Governor, I would like a definite timetable. When will you hand over power to us? Jawaharlal Nehru asked. He's not a fool and won't be so easy to deceive.
"Five years, five years at most, and we will put the power of India in your hands." Victor Hope didn't blink his eyes and said directly. It feels as if everything is real. After all, if you make up a lie, where can you say it so smoothly?
"Five years?" Jawaharlal Nehru began to weigh in his heart. Five years is not a long time for them, and it is not unacceptable. It would be nice to wait five years to be able to take over India from the British in a peaceful way. But the only thing that worries him is that it's a hoax at all.
"Your Excellency the Governor, if in five years you are really willing to hand over power to us, then we will be very satisfied. In these five years, I will fully cooperate with you. But if it's a scam, we're not going to give up. Jawaharlal Nehru said.
"Of course, rest assured, what I say is true, and I will never deceive you." Victor Hope patted his chest and reassured. His term of office is only two or three years away. When his term is over, he just pats his ass and leaves. As for these promises, he simply won't admit them. He believed that the British government would support him as well. For them, the most important thing was how to put an end to the uprising of the Bolshevik Party in India. As long as the Bolshevik party is exterminated, everything can be said.
As for whether the promise will be fulfilled in five years, it is absolutely negative. When the time comes, the British army in India will definitely be ready, and will definitely not give these untouchables a chance to revolt again.
In response to Governor Victor Hope's assurances, Jawaharlal Nehru chose to believe. Although, he also thinks that it is highly likely to be a scam. However, the Congress Party did not want to launch an armed uprising at all. To be able to get a promise from the Viceroy of India was already very satisfying to them.
"Your Excellency the Governor, what do the British think about us Greens? We want to be able to build a nation made up entirely of Greens. Jinnah said. This has always been the goal of their Green Cult Alliance.
"Well, when the time comes, it's up to you to discuss." Governor Victor Hope said.
"Your Excellency, why can't the British come close to this point for us?" Jinnah was apparently not satisfied with Governor Victor Hope's perfunctory answer.
"Alright, Your Excellency Jinnah. As for the matter of the independent green religion country, we will discuss it again at that time. Jawaharlal Nehru said. The Congress Party has always opposed this idea of the Green Religion Alliance. This, they argue, would seriously weaken India's. Once they had taken over power from the British, they would do their best to prevent India from falling into disintegration.
Jinnah was very dissatisfied with this meeting. It seems that the benefits have been taken by the Congress Party. (To be continued.) )
