Chapter 1034: Two Stories
***
On this day, the "Daqin Times" published an extra issue, and it was published in Beijing, Xijing, Chengdu, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Changsha and other places at the same time in the form of telegrams.
With such a big move, there must be heavy news, at least all the people who are vying to buy the "Daqin Times" think so.
However, when everyone bought this extra issue, they were surprised to find that this time there were only two stories related to sheep published on the extra issue, and they were published in an easy-to-understand colloquial form.
The first story is that there lived a flock of sheep on each of the two grasslands, and the sheep on the western steppe had no natural predators, and they lived carefree, eating tender green grass every day, and sleeping comfortably when they were full, but soon the sheep on the western steppe fell ill, and finally none of them were spared, and all of them died of illness.
And the sheep on the eastern grassland, because there is a wolf watching by, the sheep are chased by the wolves every day, and those weak and sick sheep are always eaten by the wolves first. Over time, the flock in the east has been able to maintain its health and multiply for generations.
This first story is very simple and very short.
The second story is a little longer:
The gods put two flocks of sheep on the grassland, one in the south and one in the north. The gods also found two kinds of natural predators for the sheep, one was a lion and the other was a wolf.
The fairy said to the sheep, "If you want a wolf, give it to you and let it bite you as it pleases." If you want lions, give them two, and you can choose one of the two lions, and you can change them at any time. ”
The sheep on the south side thought that the lion was much more ferocious than the wolf, and that the wolf should still be used. So, they asked for a wolf.??
The sheep in the north thought that although the lion is much more ferocious than the wolf, we have a choice, and we still want the lion. So they asked for two lions.
When the wolf had entered the flock to the south, he began to eat the sheep. Wolves have small bodies and eat small amounts. An orchid is not allowed to eat it for a few days, so that the sheep are chased and killed only once in a few days.
The sheep to the north chose a lion, and the other remained with the gods. When the lion entered the flock, he also began to eat the sheep. Lions are not only more ferocious than wolves, but they also eat an astonishing amount of food, eating a sheep every day.
So the flock will be hunted down every day, and they will be terrified. The sheep hurriedly asked the gods to change for a lion. Unexpectedly, the lion kept by the gods had not eaten, and was so hungry that it threw itself into the flock and bit more frantically than the lion in front of it. The sheep fled for their lives all day long, and they couldn't even eat grass.
The sheep in the south are glad they have chosen the right predator. and laughed at the flock of sheep on the north side for having no vision. The sheep in the north regretted it very much, poured bitter water on the gods, and demanded that the natural enemies be replaced by a wolf.
The immortal said: "Once the natural predator is determined, it cannot be changed, it must be followed from generation to generation, and your only right is to choose between the two lions." ”??
The sheep in the north had to change the two lions constantly. But the two lions were equally ferocious, and either one was much more miserable than the sheep on the south, so they simply did not change them, so that one lion was fat and strong, and the other was hungry and thin. Seeing that the thin lion was dying of hunger, they asked the gods to change another one.
After a long period of starvation, this thin lion slowly realized a truth: although he is fierce and abnormal, a hundred sheep are not opponents, but his fate is controlled by the sheep. The flock can send itself back to God at any time, leaving itself to suffer from hunger, and possibly even starvation. After figuring out this truth, the thin lion was very polite to the sheep, and only ate dead and sick sheep, and he did not eat any healthy sheep.
The sheep were overjoyed, and a few lambs simply fixed the thin lion instead of the fat lion. An old ram reminded: "The thin lion is so kind to us because he is afraid that we will send it back to the gods and starve." In the unlikely event that the fat lion starves to death, we have no choice, and the skinny lion will soon regain its ferocious nature. The flock felt that the old sheep was right, and in order not to starve the other lion to death, they hurried to replace it with it.
The lion, who was fat and strong, was so hungry that he was only left with skin and bones, and he also understood that his fate was in the hands of the sheep. In order to stay on the grassland for a long time, it did everything possible to please the sheep. And the lion, who was delivered to God, was so sad that he shed tears. The sheep in the north have finally lived a free life after going through many hardships.
The situation of the sheep in the south is getting more and more miserable. Because the wolf had no competitors and the sheep could not replace it, it did nothing and killed dozens of sheep every day, and the wolf had long since stopped eating mutton, and it only drank the blood of the sheep's heart. It also forbids the sheep to crow, and immediately kills whichever one crows. The flock to the south could only lament in their hearts: if they had known this, they might have had two lions.
The dignified "Daqin Times" made a big move, and it was out at the same time in various places. It turned out to be just to publish these two stories, and nothing else. For this reason, it is inevitable that the world will be in an uproar.
People don't know why, and they can't help but talk about it.
Especially the people who read the world. Now the tide of the dispute between Confucianism and law is tightening, the crowd is boiling, and the world is shaking. At this moment, it is no accident that "Daqin Times" deliberately published these two deliberate articles, so everyone thought about these two small stories anyway.
The next day, the "Daqin Times" published a regular issue in various places at the same time, publishing a signed article by Wang Fuzhi, a scholar of Hanlin University.
From the first story, Wang Fuzhi talked about the truth that he was born in sorrow and died in peace, whether it is a country or a kind of thought, if there is no natural enemy, and if he is in peace for a long time, he will gradually decay and die.
The same is true of Confucianism, we must dare to accept the challenge of other doctrines in order to constantly improve ourselves and improve ourselves.
The second story reminds us of the importance of preserving choice.
Confucianism may be the best, but it can't kill Legalism with a stick.
One cannot let a certain kind of scholarship feel that it is the only one, that there is no alternative, and for the chooser, this can give him a chance to survive. For the chosen one, it can be prompted to constantly improve itself, and then to make this kind of thinking better.
Immediately afterwards, Wang Fuzhi took the Ming Dynasty's Baguwen as an example, after the Baguwen was set as the only standard for the imperial examination, the reader lost other options when composing, and could only write articles in the format of the Baguwen. In the end, the result of the guidance is that the reader's thinking is becoming more and more rigid, you copy me, I copy you, and the articles made are rotten.
In addition, why is it that every three or two hundred years, bureaucratic corruption and corruption still occur, and eventually the people do not build a house, and the cobs are not punished, and the anti-flag rises everywhere, and the lives are ruined?
The conclusion is that Confucianism is monopolized and other laws are rejected, so that Confucianism is self-corrupting and even loses the ability to maintain the bottom line of society.
Wang Fuzhi's article cites scriptures, cites facts, and reasons. Thousands of words were sprinkled. There is no doubt that it was like a bombshell explosion that was thrown into the crowd and instantly provoked a violent reaction.
It was precisely because he knew that this move would definitely stir up a thousand waves with one stone, that Wang Fuzhi was struggling when he was summoned by Qin Mu to leave the Pujia Palace.
Qin Mu's idea is very simple, aren't you fighting for something to emphasize the law and ignore Confucianism, I will muddy the water, in addition, this truth is not just for readers, but more importantly, for thousands of ordinary people.
He is clearly telling the common people that although Confucianism is good, it is not your only choice, and you must remember that if there is no other choice, Confucianism can become extremely cruel, eat your flesh, and peel your skin.
Only by retaining other options can Confucianism become better, society healthier, and the rights and interests of ordinary people better protected.
Of course, it is not enough to rely on the propaganda of the Great Qin Times to wake up the people, so Qin Mu still has a second hand to prepare. That is to mobilize industrial and commercial owners, such as Xu Yongshun, as well as the chambers of commerce in various provinces, and the business houses under their hands are all over the country, infiltrating all walks of life and all corners, coupled with the strong ability to disseminate information at night, they will vigorously publicize to the ordinary people, and finally force those who read books with the public opinion offensive of the lower classes.
This was a big battle that Qin Mu couldn't afford to lose, so the counterattack he launched was incomparable.
In the story of these two sides, the emperor was compared to the gods by the people of the whole world, and Confucianism and Law were compared to two lions, and the people became the flock of sheep.
Dear lambs, please keep your choice, it is your life-saving pasture, don't throw it away. (To be continued......)
