Chapter 015: Kant's Diary
"Lighthouse keeper, this may be the best job for me in the world."
"I love this place, the peaceful island, the beautiful sandy beach, green everywhere, the blue water and sky in the distance, and more importantly, I don't need to touch anyone here."
"It's a place for me alone."
"I can do whatever I like here."
Page 1 of the diary is supposed to have been recorded by Kant when he first became a meteorological surveyor, and it can be seen that this kind of work, which is extremely lonely to others, is doing it like a fish in water.
I even enjoy this life very much.
What follows is recorded are some ordinary trivialities, Kant's work is not hard, but it is very hard, he does not have much work, but the most unbearable is protracted loneliness.
He usually had very little time to rest, and only a few days a month could return to a nearby town, when he could get a brief exposure to the worldly life and replenish his supplies.
If there is no day, perhaps the peace will never be broken.
"God, not long ago, I even thought that my heart would jump out of my chest, and a woman took the initiative to talk to me, what is her name......"
"Yes, Ivy!"
"What a beautiful name, just like herself."
Day 2.
"Hell, I took a day off and didn't return to the island, and I went to the same bar last night, why?"
"Do I want to see her again?"
"I drank all night, but unfortunately she never showed up again, and tomorrow I will return to the island, and the next time I will come back will be a month or even two months away."
"I'm afraid I'll never see her again."
"That's fine, I'm used to being alone."
Ivy.
Roger frowned, and he thought of the name that Kant had called out in his last desperate effort.
"Is it the fishwoman?"
Shaking his head a little heavily, he flipped to the next page.
"Before leaving, I rescued a drowning woman on the shore, I really didn't expect it to be her!"
"Is this fate?"
"It's too late, I can only take her to the island with me, but it's okay, I can find someone to pick her up when she wakes up."
At this point, Kant's handwriting is a bit messy, and Roger can see that he is completely deceiving himself, and he should be able to find other solutions.
But at that time, he should have subconsciously wanted to spend a little more time with that woman.
Roger didn't know what Kant had lived before, but he could see that this cold man was out of step with the world, he was afraid of crowds, tried to avoid any social interactions, and put himself in a shell.
The subsequent development is the same as Roger imagined, the lonely island, young men and women, one intentional and one unintentional, soon rubbed some sparks.
At first, Kant briefly recorded his feelings, but later, he completely abandoned this habit and completely integrated into love.
It wasn't until three months after the date was marked that Kant wrote a diary again, only this time, there was no sweetness and warmth between the lines, only doubt and grudge.
"Lies, all lies!"
Kant wrote these words so hard that he did not seem to write them on paper, but on his own skin with a knife.
"She doesn't love me at all, she just approaches me for something near the island!"
"She's a thief, she's a robber, and even the name Ivy is fake!"
"I love her, I really love her, and for her sake, I've even considered quitting this job and starting a new life."
"After I have tasted the sweetness of love, why give me a glass of poisoned wine!"
"I wish I had never known her."
After a large blank space.
"Crazy, really crazy, she chose to go to sea in this stormy weather, what is it, it's worth fighting with her life?!"
"The wind and waves on the sea are too strong, is the sea god angry?"
"We were separated, and thankfully, I finally got back to the island, and no one survived at sea in this weather."
"Ivy is dead, and she can't come back."
"But why am I not happy at all?"
"Finding Ivy's luggage on the island, I know who she used to be, the Three Holy Spirits, what kind of weird organization is this?"
"The Book of Spirits, what is it?"
Seeing this, Roger put down the diary in his hand and his eyes fell on another book in the drawer.
The Book of Transience.
The material of the book is very strange, Roger's fingers lightly swiped over it, I don't know if it is an illusion, he always feels that the book contains extraordinary power.
"It seems that all this is not accidental, and the research and exploration of extraordinary powers in this world is probably far beyond my imagination."
Roger muttered to himself.
He did not rush to open the book, but picked up Kant's diary and continued to look down.
"The Three Holy Spirits, according to Ivy's books, are a powerful organization that serves the world's top plutocrats and magnates, with the aim of digging up and discovering everything related to supernatural power."
"And take advantage of it!"
"It's crazy, how can there be extraordinary power in this world?"
Kant's words are full of disbelief.
But soon his point of view was completely subverted, and according to Roger's guess, he must have opened the "Book of Spirits" in curiosity!
Because for the next period of time, Kant's words were full of madness and confusion when the worldview was broken.
A book opens up a new world for him.
"Is all this true?"
"And what the hell are we?"
"Who is the master of this world?"
Similar words abound.
Skipping this large section of smearing, Roger continued to look down.
I don't know whether to accept this recognition or to forget all about it entirely, Kant's diary became normal.
Until a storm soon after.
"It's terrible, every time I face a storm like this, I think of everything that happened that night, the rain and fog are so thick that I can't see through the lights."
"The boat parked on the shore was shattered by lightning, and it looked like I wouldn't be able to get out of here for a long time."
"Originally, I didn't want to believe a word about the contents of that book, but tonight, on the stormy shore, not far from the boat, I discovered a strange species."
"Species."
"I'm 100% sure it's not a human!"
"What should I do?"
"Kill her, or take her back?"
Roger saw Kant's hesitation, and the scene seemed exactly the same as that night not so long ago.
Perhaps at the moment when he reached out for help, Kant was as hesitant as he was then.
But he brought her back anyway.
