Chapter 109: The Furnace
Sarah's tongue was frozen in a good way, and Jana brought a cup of hot water and slowly poured it down Jeno's arm, and the grip on her tongue melted instantly.
Although the incident became a joke for Sindra in the next few days, Sarah was able to keep her face unchanged and appear in the captain's room every day to talk and laugh.
Now they had gone deep enough into Freljord, and according to the map, the Furnace Country should be in the nearby mountains.
They searched in the snow and ice, and it was Cana who first discovered the traces of the furnace country.
Cana discerned the faint smell of sulfur in the bitter cold wind, and she pulled the Abyss to a certain place, and it wasn't long before Jeno saw a large cloud of smoke rising from afar on some flattened mountain.
The Abyss immediately sailed over, hovering over the roofless mountain.
The hillside is strewn with black stones, scarred as far as the eye can see, and it seems that a terrible battle has taken place. Jeno was the first to disembark and stand on the edge of a large circular crater, and then discovered a labyrinth of charred foundations underneath - the remains of a small city, but it was not recorded on any map, except the one in his possession.
He opened the parchment scroll on which the map was drawn, and the note on it said that the mountain was called "the half mountain of Old Orn", and the ruins in the belly of the mountain were formerly called Furnace Country.
In the center of the crater basin, a cloud of green smoke rises into the sky, where there is a huge natural furnace.
"Found it!"
Jano's eyes lit up at the sight of the furnace, because he knew that it was not a furnace, but Orn's body.
The fire burned fiercely, and the green smoke of sulfur came out, and it flickered in a certain rhythm. Jeno wondered if it was Orn's breath.
The steaming ground was difficult to walk, and several people climbed down the hill to the furnace.
The circular dome on the outside of the furnace is the only thing that appears to have been made by hand. The hearth itself is shaped like a huge ram's head, with a handful of goat grass growing between the stone slabs. The ram had a blazing fire in its mouth, so bright that it could be seen even with its eyes closed.
They gathered in front of the furnace, and then Sarah spoke:
"We've arrived, but where is Orn? Legend has it that he was as tall as eight pine trees, not like the one that could be hidden...... Critter ......" Sarah glanced at the furnace and felt that it didn't seem to fit such a large beast in the furnace, and that no one would normally bathe in the lava.
"Listen to Ash, only the people of the Furnace Country can see Orn. Obviously, there are no furnace townspeople among us, and no one believes in the god of forging and its furnace fire. ”
Without Jeno's informance, the others were all blind, completely unaware that the furnace in front of them was Orn.
"It's strange that this furnace can burn without fueling and not cooling. I feel less like a furnace and more like a volcano. ”
Ezreal thought with his chin in his head, a seasoned adventurer who immediately sensed the anomaly of the furnace. But in the end, he couldn't help but think that there should be no signs of life in the furnace in front of him, and his thinking went astray.
Only Jana keenly felt that the furnace contained a huge amount of magic, and it was not ordinary magic, they seemed to be alive? That's why the fire keeps burning in the snow and ice.
"Yes, no one of faith can see him. Even if he who has faith is blind, his fire will light up in his eyes. Jeno said meaningfully, and the others began to look back from the search for the dark passage, and instead looked for the shadow of the ram in the choking air.
Jeno shook his head, these people's actions lacked a hint of spirituality, and only Jana understood his prompts.
Cana found that she fit the conditions of Jeno's words, and it could even be said that he was talking about a god like herself. Only those who have faith can see themselves, and the rest of them must appear on their own initiative to observe their existence. And the fact that they can't see Orn doesn't mean that it doesn't want to see them.
But it's impossible to come home empty-handed, and I'm sure Jeno thinks the same way, and she'd better find a way to get Orn out for a conversation.
"Jeno, I doubt this furnace...... It's Orn. The flame in it is alive, it beats, like the heart......"
Jano, who was not quite sure of Jana, whispered, who knew that the latter would smile when he heard it:
"Well, actually, I've seen it a long time ago."
"I know why you don't say it!" Cana turned into a bluebird and pecked Jeno in the ear, blaming him for his pretense.
When the others heard their conversation, they suddenly realized that they were looking at the furnace with strange eyes.
"I'm also wondering how to wake him up." Jeno explained.
"Wake up?" Jax stepped forward and tapped the furnace with a lamppost, trying to physically wake it up, but the furnace ignored him.
"You might as well throw the Eternal Flame into the furnace." Jeno said.
When Jax heard that he was going to sacrifice his life, he resolutely disagreed.
"Is there any mechanism for me to Kangkang?" Ezreal circled around the furnace, and Jeno was afraid that he would accidentally poke Orn's base point and anger Orn, so he hurriedly stopped him.
"Can't be overturned!" And before Sindra could make a move, Jeno already knew what she was going to do. This made her blush slightly, she had never been so thoughtful before.
And in the scorching environment, everyone's faces were more or less red, and she didn't worry about being seen abnormal.
"Have you figured out a way? Jeno. Jana asked. Even if they knew that the crucible was Orn, they couldn't help it, and if Orn didn't want to wake up, they couldn't help it.
"Orn would wake up if he sensed Volibell's approach, he hated this little brother of his. If we can come up with something that smells of Volibel, maybe we can wake him up......"
The last time Orn woke up, it was to save a tribe with a furnace in the pursuit of Volibel and the Bears.
"But we don't have that either." Cana was helpless.
Conspiring loudly to his face, and saying the name that Orn hated, did not revive the god of forging. Either it's completely inaudible, or it's just intimate.
"Since there's nothing he hates, let's just get something he might be interested in."
As he spoke, Jeno lit a flame in his hand.
Eternal Flame.
Although the power of the World Rune was almost squandered by him, due to the frequent use of the Eternal Flame during this time, he unknowingly mastered this magical flame and was able to create it with magic even without the use of the World Rune.
Jeno approached the furnace and brought the flame under the ram's head's nostrils.
He didn't have any particular ideas, he just wanted Orn to smell the "scent" of the Eternal Flame. He used to watch a lot of cute pet videos, and there were often cases of waking up dogs with fragrant food, so he wanted to use the same method with Orn.
