Chapter 1127: The Transformation of Lady Sagar
After leaving the embassy in Phi City, Rhodes decided to visit Ms. Sagar, the port governor of Nashramme, today.
Participating in the slave trade and preparing for treason, this is not at all the Nash Latin America that Rhodes knew much about before!
You must know that even before Rhodes made trouble, when Noxus was most seriously eroded by Shurima, Nashramin was the staunchest Noxian resistant, and after the cities of Bergunn, Telishhn, and Uzeris took refuge in Noxus for various reasons, Nashramin has always played the role of a bridgehead to resist the Noxian invasion.
But now, when Shurima's future is no longer uncertain, Sagar's involvement in the slave trade, and possibly even defection to Noxus, is unbelievable in any case.
There's definitely something I don't know about it!
So, that same evening, Rhodes quietly entered the governor's palace in Nashram, and he was eager to find out why the female harbor governor had chosen a completely different path than he had used to be......
The night in Nashram is dark.
The narrow streets are devoid of the bustle and crowds of the day, and the whole city seems to fall into a deep sleep except for the wharf area and the shouts of workers carrying goods overnight.
Under the cover of darkness, Rhodes quietly transformed into a sea raven and entered the governor's palace of the port governor.
The lights in the office are still on.
The room was lit up by high-grade whale oil candles from the Sea of Conquest, and Governor Saga was still sitting at his desk as he worked on file after paper.
Then, just as Rhodes was about to enter to talk to her, Saga finished processing the last paperwork and turned off the lights and went back to his bedroom.
Rod was stunned for a moment, then shook his head helplessly, dispelling the idea of going to the bedroom to find Saga - it was okay to flip through the papers, and Rod believed that he would always find the news he wanted.
……………………
Saga is a cautious person.
Although it was just some normal documents, she locked them all in her safe before going back to rest.
Unfortunately, although this safe is a high-end product of Leather City, it seems to be completely defenseless in front of Rhodes - just like that, Rod easily opened Saga's safe and began to dig through her papers.
Nashram is a large port city, and as the port governor, Saga has a daunting number of issues to deal with.
From trade routes to street seepage, she needed to approve the big and small affairs of Nash Lamei.
Rhodes quickly flipped through all of her papers, then quickly focused on a Special Trade Report.
Although the report itself does not describe much about the special trade, in just a few words, Rhodes quickly judged the essence of this "special trade" - that is, the slave trade!
Poring through the report, Rhodes discovered the purpose of Sagar's war slave trade...... It really seems like it's just for the money?
There is only one core of the whole report, and that is how to get more money from the sand pirates, the Noxians, and nothing else.
It seems that for Sagas, the slave trade was all about money.
Purely for money?
Although everything seems clear, a serious sense of disobedience lingers in Rhodes's mind - a once unyielding Governor of the Port of Shurima, who completely changed his position for the sake of money?
There must be some information that I have overlooked!
With the safe as it was, Rhodes began to look for Sagar's other documents—past documents, which she should have kept on file.
Soon, Rhodes found a large safe in the bookcase, and when he opened it, it was the government report of Nasch Lame in the past.
By year, Rhodes swept through the reports directly and quickly with the help of arcane intelligence—and in contrast, he quickly spotted the problem.
Two years ago, the government affairs reports of Nash Latin America were all about self-development, except for some necessary municipal maintenance, trade maintenance and other reporting documents, most of the reports approved by Saga were about the development of Nashi Latin America - the training and maintenance of the army, the crackdown and deterrence of pirates in the surrounding waters, the development of trade routes, the formation and maintenance of trade alliances, and the promotion and rectification of tourism......
After summarizing a large amount of data, Rhodes found that two years ago, at least from the content of the government report, the focus of Nasch La's life had been on self-development, and it seemed that the whole city had development as its first goal.
But since two years ago, the whole of Nash Rah's governance has suddenly changed, and the profit margin and tax ratio have become the most mentioned words in all reports, and it seems that overnight Ms. Saga has fallen into the eyes of money, and has gone from an ambitious governor to a complete money lover!
Narrowing his eyes slightly, Rhodes searched for all possible traces - but alas, there were no special documents during the period of Saga's policy change.
A municipal maintenance, a cultural event attendance, gone.
What's the problem?
Was it the municipal maintenance, or was it the cultural event?
Or is there something big that Saga has deliberately hidden?
In the darkness, Rhodes narrowed his eyes slightly, touched his chin thoughtfully.
Suddenly, as if aware of something, Rhodes picked up the schedule of attendance at the cultural event again—reading the entire schedule carefully, Rod finally found the information he was looking for.
"At 1 p.m., attend the inauguration ceremony of the Civil Society Center and give a speech (see appendix for the transcript)."
Turning to the appendix, Rod saw the name of the civil society where the community center was located in the transcript.
"I'm glad to see that three non-governmental organizations dedicated to the history of Shurima, namely the Quicksand Explorers, the Renaissance Society, and the Kag Heritage Preservation Society, have spontaneously taken root in Nashramei."
That's right, there is a block called the Revival Society.
Revival!
At this moment, Rhodes finally understood where the strong sense of disobedience he had always felt was coming from—in fact, when the Governor of Kilgoof in Noxus attacked him, his transformation was as abrupt as Saga's.
Now, through a series of documents, Rhodes discovers that Sagar had been in contact with an organization called the Revival Society during his conversion...... This is definitely no coincidence!
After all, behind this organization, ostensibly to revive Shurima, there is a prophet from the void standing!
