Chapter 242: Flowing Beads Under the Moon

The guest of this issue, Chen Xiaoyun @ Stick 1126

Mr. Stick Kee, formerly known as Chen Xiaoyun, is an avant-garde cartoonist who constantly breaks through himself and creates different types of works. The teacher graduated from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, majoring in Chinese painting, and in real life, in addition to comic creation, he also loves traditional arts such as Chinese painting and wood carving.

He has participated in the animation production of "Q Version of the Three Kingdoms" and "Brave the World" as an animation director, and his representative works include "Little Qingtian Situ Gong". During her work, she discovered that her hobby was comic creation, so she started the creation of "Instant Noodles Superman" with the encouragement of the then boss Ao Youxiang, which was the first superman comic in the real sense of the word in China, and won the Golden Dragon Award for Best Multi-Grid Comics.

After that, the teacher created works such as "The Principal Arrives", among which "Weird Strange Talk" signed a contract with NetEase Comics, and the number of hits on the whole network has reached nearly 260 million. The super popular stick teacher is still reluctant to insist on high-level creation day and night, and continues to create more wonderful stories for everyone!

I'm chasing the teacher's comic from the "Weird and Strange Tan" series of sharks.,So today I focus on recommending this one.。

Shark people, also known as Quanke. It is a mysterious creature of the fish-tailed human body in ancient Chinese mythology and legend, similar to the mermaid in Western mythology. "Sou Shen Ji" contains: "There are sharks outside the South China Sea, who live in water like fish, and do not waste weaving achievements." His eyes weep and they can produce pearls. "Their oil has a very low ignition point, and a drop can burn for days. Legend has it that in the Mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang, there is an ever-bright lantern made of shark oil.

And the incredible story presented in the merman chapter of "Weird Strange Tales" also comes from this setting. The male protagonist is an ordinary fisherman who mixes human desires (trying to resurrect his wife) and kindness (helping villagers pay off their debts), and finally does not hesitate to transform himself into a merman hero in order to punish rape and eliminate evil. The picture of the work presents a gorgeous and paradoxical tension, and the strong stylization is unforgettable.

This is a short story with a cold joke or black humor, and although I guessed the ending when I watched it, it was still very shocking when I actually saw the specimen that was finally presented. And the author who was complained about by the snake at the end was greatly ...... Exciting!

The penetrator of the "Strange Story" series is a comic with the theme of tomb robbery in the Republic of China, in the era of warlord melee and people's misery, the protagonist Huo Dongchuan, who grew up in a small fishing village, and his friends make a living by fishing, but accidentally fell into a sand pit but gained the superpower to walk freely underground. Later, because of the two antique porcelain bowls and the tomb robber Song Tianlei, they did not know each other, and accidentally entered the military camp where his brother was, and said goodbye to ordinary life......

Q: Because I was deeply impressed by the strange and strange conversations, I secretly poked and prodded to look through the information of Mr. Stick Kee, and only then did I know that you were studying under Mr. Ao Youxiang. Can you talk about the influence of Mr. Ao Youxiang on your painting creation?

A: I'd like to briefly talk about this from my debut experience. I have been interested in Chinese painting since I was a child, and when I was in college, I was admitted to my favorite voluntary school, the landscape painting department of the Chinese painting department of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, so I have a certain understanding and foundation of the traditional essence of Chinese painting.

But because I love the field of animation so much, I maintained a part-time study from junior high school to graduating from university, and the content of my job was to work at an animation company to make animations. One is love, the other is to help the family, and one is to do it for many years. It wasn't until I graduated from university that I slowly realized that my favorite thing was always to think about stories and draw them, and comics could help me fulfill this wish, but Chinese painting couldn't. In this case, I may be able to express my story in the form of Chinese painting and the narrative language of comics in the future, and then the Chinese paintings and comics that I love will be able to continue at the same time. So the ghost made a miracle find Mr. Ao Youxiang's Oolong Yuan studio and began my path of comic creation.

I've worked as an animation director and held many positions, but I always started as an assistant in a manga studio. When I learned that the owner of this studio was the one I used to like to read, Mr. Ao Youxiang, the comic author of "Happy Camp", I was excited, I didn't expect the world to be so small. Because I've never watched "Oolong Temple", if I had watched it before, maybe the excitement would have lasted a little longer...... Because my classmates introduced me to the studio, I didn't even know who the boss was at that time.........

After less than a year as an apprentice, I soon had my first original work, China's first Superman comic "Instant Noodles Superman". I am very grateful to Mr. Ao for giving me the opportunity to be original and the space to create, but when I finished drawing instant noodles, it was already four years later.

In the process, I gradually discovered that I was actually better at creating genre stories, and funny genres were not suitable for me. I gradually formed my own style, and I went further and further away from Mr. Ao's style. In fact, after the first half of "Instant Noodle Superman", he has begun to have his own style and narrative, and is basically not affected by Mr. Ao's painting style. Looking back now, compared to those who always ask others to follow their own style of painting, I am very grateful to Mr. Ao for giving me the freedom to play (but it is also possible that I can't control it...... )。
