13 Farewell
Zach stood in the corner for five minutes, holding the earpiece. In the meantime, Riley drank water, ate a snack, withered the cactus on a table, and calmed her breathing.
Zack glanced at Riley, who had returned to normal, hung up the phone, and slowly sat down at Riley's desk again with a thoughtful look on his face.
Madison's explanation is not complicated, but he was inspired by Mr. Morris in the writing class, and encouraged by his classmate (Ms. West), so he submitted to Urban Legends, the only one that could receive his 'whimsical' essays.
Of course, Madison couldn't have changed the name of something in order to match the magazine's usual style, so his article was full of vampires and alphas, and Riley received a test of the correct terms.
And so they met.
As a result, they found that they had too much in common, that they had all come to this small eastern town because of the false rumors that had been spread by the shapeshifters, and that they were all trapped in a difficult work situation.
But Madison was the one who had a smooth life, after all, the person he was with was Zach. Riley, on the other hand, can only barely maintain a normal life in a place like Becky's developed 'entertainment facilities', in every sense.
Things seem to have gotten to the point where Madison can help Riley.
Madison quoted Riley on the phone - "She said, 'Since you want to write about Grande, write it!, you can give it to me, I can send it out, you know, how many 'people' are in Barton, want to know what Grande's two are doing?!'"
The 'people' are the aliens who are hidden in Barton, and who have only been able to reach the Grande since the agreement they had made ten years ago.
Recall that maybe the disappearance of a ghoul is nothing, but these aliens know. That's one of them, and they're going to wonder what's going on. Just as the average Patton citizen would be interested in the mayor's agenda, these 'people' would be interested in Grande.
Sbella, who once served as the center of Barton's interracial information circulation, seems to no longer be in such a role after leaving Barton for the first time.
It's a fact, look at what Sbella did when she came back. All of her energy was on balancing the demons and the Indian hunters. Summoned an Indic rally, lobbied at the Church of the Grande Son, and was busy fighting for his own Indians in front of Crowley (the Newton demon stealing Barton's soul in the Bisharp incident).
After that, he fell into the relationship between Grande and John. Now, I simply go to the other side of the world to 'travel' abroad.
The 'people' desperately need a way to understand what's going on.
So who can provide this way? Madison, who is at the center of everything that happens, who is observing, and Riley, who is able to make it public.
And then there is the current situation.
Zach finished thinking and glanced at Riley, a refreshed charmer. Without thinking about the Hitomi confrontation he almost lost, "Madison, did it really bring any benefit to the magazine?"
"Of course. Riley also looked at Zach, it was better to open again like this than for the vampire to mention the confrontation between the two just now, "At least after I release someone with Grande as our author, our subscription will break 100." ”
Zach's mood is a little complicated, a little complacent. Because those subscriptions are there to follow Grande, and that's vanity. There are also weird discomforts. Grande doesn't like to be noticed. He adjusted his posture, "Then they will be disappointed, this issue of the magazine doesn't seem to mention Grande in any way." ”
"They won't. Riley was sure, "Shall we make a bet that I will receive many letters of inquiry here at noon." They'll ask the same questions as you, who is the 'drugged', what really happened last night, and is Grande involved? ”
Zach raised an eyebrow, and that's the end of the article. The author spoils the atmosphere of the call to the people to write the letter.
"With Madison in mind for his privacy, we chose to hide his true identity. All letters will pass through me first, and you should thank me for protecting you Grande in this way. ”
Zach smiled and shook his head, not too concerned. Grande didn't need her protection.
After laughing, Zach frowned, and he began to realize that this morning's time had been completely wasted.
Look at what he's done, going around for a purpose that doesn't make any sense at all, meeting a few people he didn't even intend to bump into, hearing, seeing, and discovering things he didn't even want to know, disturbing his mood but achieving nothing.
At least, that's what Zach himself thinks.
Zach looked around at the newsroom again and stood up with the corners of his mouth tugging, "So, take your leave." ”
Riley watched as Zach stood up and turned around, "Don't you have anything else to say to me, don't you wonder who subscribed to the magazine to follow Grande." ”
Zach waved his hand, "No. ”
"Then Madison is right, you're really self-centered. ”
Zach turned his head, didn't sit down, put his hand on the back of his chair, and chuckled, "Why did he say that?" ”
Riley shrugged, "He may not have used such words, but it was evident from many of the things he said. You only care about yourself. ”
Zach raised an eyebrow, there is nothing wrong with this, maybe it can be argued that Zach also cares about Grande, his gray career, and Anthony, but seriously, isn't it all for himself.
"At first, I was a little skeptical, after all, the essence of the you he described was a Toredo who was used to doing it only for himself. Riley also raised an eyebrow, "You've survived until now, and it's not a bad thing to survive the encirclement and suppression of the Hidden Alliance, just for yourself." ”
Zach thought for a moment, smiled and nodded.
"But still, hmph, the first time we actually met, I was still surprised. Riley shook her head, "You're rude, narrow-sighted, irresponsible, self-righteous......"
Zach raised his hand and interrupted Riley, "I'm rude, you can't be trying to blame me again for stopping you from seducing an ordinary lawyer." "Hehe, in what Riley said, this is what Zach wants to refute.
Riley looked away, too lazy to respond. She did want to blame for this, because Zach interrupted her without even asking for a reason, and now she has to face a huge amount of compensation.
And what we should have imagined is that since the events of last night, when there was no news from any of Barton's official channels, Madison took out the information from the mouth of the demon Leon, made up a story, and finally wrote an article, so that Riley had to revise the sample book in the early hours of the morning, before printing......
These, apparently considered by Zach to be things that had nothing to do with him, were not rude, they were all of the above.
Riley didn't want to say any more about it, and directly picked up the piece of paper in front of her, "You're not even going to care about this." ”
Zach glanced at the last 'Bishop' written on the paper, pursed his lips, and finally smiled, "Do you want me to give you some advice?"
Of course not, it's just that Riley still has a glimmer of expectation for Zack, which is a decision that will obviously affect the people of the West End, will Zach be a friend and helper of the people of the West End as he maintains to the outside world?
"Well, obviously, Bisharp doesn't like strong women (Ms. Shel), but he also doesn't like women who make it difficult for him (Hayley in the period before she dies, instigated by Crawley). Zach recalled the weak, inactive man in his impression, and raised an eyebrow, "He should like the kind of woman who is content with the status quo and will die at the slightest favor, probably." ”
It doesn't seem to be.
Riley put down the paper in her hand and shook her head, "Thanks for the reminder." (To be continued......)
