Chapter 697. Soldiers arriving at the starting point
It takes about half a month to go to the elf country.
In order to ensure that they could travel lightly, Kant did not let the soldiers take much luggage with them.
Instead, they were ordered to resupply them as they passed through Durandal.
More than two dozen soldiers rode into the gates of Durandal on camels.
The basic public facilities in the city have been completed, and there are still many shelters for the soldiers to live temporarily in order to meet the conditions of migrant workers and soldiers.
When DeWitt told his soldiers the news, they cheered and jumped for joy that they didn't have to camp outdoors tonight.
"Everyone's accommodation is arranged together. I have to go back to the residence at ten o'clock in the evening, and I will come to check the room. DeWitt confessed.
"Yes!" The soldiers replied.
Led by local soldiers from Durandel, the group walked into a house near the center of the city.
"One room for four people, and the rooms on the third floor are all vacated for you." The soldier leading the way explained.
"Thank you." DeWitt thanked him.
"It's okay, there's a dinner party in the barracks in the evening to entertain you. Please be sure to arrive before 6 o'clock. The soldier who led the way finally explained.
"Okay, I'm sorry for you." Devit bowed.
The soldier shook his head and left.
Devitt arranged for everyone to be assigned a room, and waited until everyone had settled into their rooms.
Clemmont beckoned from the doors, "Let's change our clothes and get ready to go to the barracks." Durandal's garrison sent a wagon to pick us up. β
"Carriage?!" Two or three soldiers excitedly rushed to the side of the corridor outside the door and exclaimed.
"I don't think I've ever been in a carriage." A soldier said.
"Alright, alright, we will be seated right away. Hurry back to your room and change your dusty clothes, and wash your faces. Cremont stopped the soldiers back at the door and drove them away.
Because everyone is a soldier, they don't care much about their outward clothing and the like.
Under Claremont's orders, he just cleaned up casually and walked downstairs with the captain.
"Hello." Sitting next to the carriage was Derrick, who had been sent to Durandal a few months earlier. At this moment, he greeted the soldiers who walked out of the door.
"Commander Derrick?!" The two soldiers at the forefront exclaimed in surprise, and then hurriedly saluted.
Unexpectedly, Commander Daerik would come to pick them up in person.
"Commander Derrick!" DeWitt shouted, and then led the soldiers behind him to line up and stand in front of Darik.
Daerik glanced at everyone, then chuckled and said, "Get in the car." The brothers in the barracks are still waiting for you. β
DeWitt turned and directed his men to get into the carriage.
"Long time no see." Cremont stepped into the carriage where Darick was, and held out his hand with red eyes.
The two of them were originally in the same cohort, after Darik was promoted to Commander. Cremont has also expressed his desire to remain under Derrick's men.
Derick glanced at Cremont's outstretched hand, but didn't shake it back. Instead, he stepped forward and hugged this comrade-in-arms who he hadn't seen for many days.
"I heard you're the vice-captain of your team?" Darick patted Cremont on the back with his hand, stopping the other man's moving sobs. After letting go, he asked Cremont with a smile.
"Yes." Still immersed in his emotions, Cremont replied affirmatively to Darik's question.
"Well done." Derick still smiled and encouraged.
The groom began to drive the carriage forward.
Soldiers who tried it for the first time in a horse-drawn carriage. There was a lively discussion.
"It's pretty comfortable to sit in this carriage." One soldier lamented.
"No wonder Captain Clemmont asked us to change our clothes, this satin, if it was dirty. We can't afford it. One soldier touched the comfortable cushion and sighed.
"Come on. Don't make it look like a bun into town. One soldier said with disgust.
"What's wrong with you, Austinger?" A soldier asked the soldier beside him.
The soldier named Austinger was slightly pale, and he was leaning on the window railing of the carriage. After hearing the question, he turned around and said uncomfortably: "How do I feel, riding in this carriage is more dizzy than riding a horse?" β
"Huh? How can you get dizzy? The soldier wondered.
"No, I feel like I'm going to throw up." Austinger let go of his hand and lay his upper body on his lap.
"Huh?! Wait, you're alright. Don't throw up, we're going to dinner. The soldier said anxiously: "Hey! Someone's going to throw up here! β
The carriage drove to the door of the barracks, and the soldiers stepped out of the carriage one by one.
Cremont and Derrick's carriage was the one in charge.
So the two of them got out of the carriage earlier than anyone else.
"Wow! Durandel's barracks is really magnificent. CrΓ©mont sighed after seeing the shape of the barracks.
"It's just been built. It just looks relatively new. Derrick said with a smile.
"Someone! Someone here is not feeling well! β
Clemmont heard a call from among the soldiers behind him, and turned sharply to lock his gaze. Then he apologized to Dareek, "I'm sorry, something seems to be wrong with one of our soldiers. β
After the words fell, he rushed to the source of the sound.
When they got to the side of the soldier who was shouting hard, he found that DeWitt had also rushed over.
"What's wrong?!" Devit asked urgently.
The soldier pointed to Austinger, who had collapsed beside the carriage, and said, "He has been saying 'dizzy' since he got into the carriage." And I threw up just now, and now I can't seem to walk. β
"Who is this?" DeWitt asked confusedly. For the time being, he hasn't been able to match the names of all the fighters with their faces.
"Austinger, Fourth Squad." Before the soldier could reply, Clemmont picked up and explained.
"Alright." DeWitt commanded: "Lift the fainted soldier to the carriage and rest." Prepare a little more water for him. β
"The carriage may not be very ventilated, so let's help it to the rest place of our barracks." Darek stepped out of the crowd and suggested.
"Is it really convenient?" DeWitt was still a little nervous in the face of Commander Derrick and asked hesitantly.
"It's okay. And I took it upon myself to arrange for a carriage to pick you up, and I really didn't take into account your habits. It's really ill-conceived. Derick said slightly apologetically.
"Well, it's nothing. Thank you, Commander Darik. DeWitt reassured Derick and said gratefully.
