Chapter 33: The Unstable Forest (Part II)

Nottingham Forest were considered by the local media in south London to be a tired division, going back and forth, not even Nottingham, and despite winning the UEFA Cup, it didn't say anything. Instead of having to deal with such a busy schedule, Crystal Palace can win at home to Nottingham Forest, who are currently in sixth place.

By the way, because of recent achievements and the arrogant surname, Tony? Both Done and Nottingham Forest have been the focus of research by a number of Premier League coaches. In particular, the teams at the bottom of the table are hoping to balance their minds a little bit by beating Forest - a promoted team can finish sixth, and if we win them, are we close to sixth?

So, even though Palace are bottom of the table with just five points after nine league games, that doesn't stop their fans from fantasizing about beating Forest at home and getting out of the bitter sea.

But the reality is often harsh...... In this game, Don sent most of the substitutes and young players to rest the main team on the one hand and train the team on the other. Centre-backs Pique and Wes? Mogan started as a partner, with little change at left wing-back, and right wing-back Zim Bonda rested to let John? Thompson came off the bench. Albertini rested, Blanya? GuNelson and George? Wood's partner, left wing-back Chris? Cummons substitute Frank? Franck Franck Ribery started with right midfielder Allen? Lennon replaces Ashley? Young, the forward line is a two-center combination - Crouch and Bendtner.

Forest's tactics for this game were very simple, they were to try to play high balls and cross low from the wing-backs instead of cutting inside. It's rare for a coach to field two high strikers at the same time in a game, but Donn did just that, and it worked surprisingly well.

Crystal Palace were completely stunned by the 'twin towers' combination of Bendtner and Crouch, as they did not expect such a staffing for Forest. Bendtner is well-rounded, has excellent headers and is physically strong enough to shoot on his own while also providing passes and assists for his teammates. Although Crouch is not as strong as Bendtner in headers and physicality, his outstanding height still allows him to fight for more headers on the court than the average person, and his long legs often make opponent defenders unguardable.

Such a bizarre combination of strikers produced a total of eleven shots in the game, hitting the woodwork seven times and scoring three. Crouch scored twice and Bendtner scored his second league goal of the season.

Although Done was pleased with the result, what excited him was the growth of young players, not to mention Bendtner, who knew his quality and Crouch, who was more than two metres tall and had already attracted the attention of some clubs.

What excites Don and even makes him feel a little relieved is Aaron? Lennon, England's new star of hope - although England's most no-brainer is perhaps the star of hope, the media are always good at hyping an obscure kid into a talented teenager overnight - after coming to the Forest team, because he is young, he can only be Ashley? Young's replacement, who spent most of his time training with the first team, had to play in the reserves, and was sometimes loaned by the youth team.

But he seemed very down-to-earth, and he didn't make any excessive requirements, such as being sure to play the main force and ensuring playing time...... It's just a matter of putting your head down in training and trying to improve yourself.

Against Crystal Palace, two of Forest's four goals came from direct assists and one indirectly – he crossed to Bendtner, who crossed to Crouch, who scored the ball in the cross.

Also, Chris? Cummons was decent on the left flank, not as impressive as Lennon, but consistent. Donn likes players like that, they tend to be undemanding, they don't want to start like those star players, they want a raise, they want to do this and that, they know their position very well, they try to do their best, they play their best when they are needed, maybe they are not capable of being the main team, but it is enough to be a good substitute.

Any team has to have players who are willing to be substitutes, Chris? Cummons is one such person, he is very low-key in the Forest team, a man who usually doesn't attract much attention and even Donn sometimes ignores, but who doesn't let everyone down when he needs to make a difference.

Similar to Cummons, is there a backup centre-back Wess? Mogan, who was still a regular last season, can only be a substitute this season, but no one has seen him express the slightest dissatisfaction with this, and he is still one of the most optimistic people in the team.

With such a person in the team, Don will have a lot of peace of mind.

The final score of the game was Nottingham Forest's 4-2 away win over Crystal Palace, allowing the bottom-placed Crystal Palace to further consolidate their position as 'vice-captain'. Nottingham Forest's standings have not changed and remain sixth with 17 points. Take a look at the names of the teams that Forest have at the top of the table: Manchester United are fifth with 17 points, and Liverpool are seventh, one point less. Forest fans have plenty of reason to be proud of this performance.

After the game, the Crystal Palace were depressed, and Donn took the Forest team to answer Nottingham with satisfaction.

Five days later, they will travel north to take on Newcastle, who sit eighth with 16 points like Liverpool, and are not at all a level of rivalry with a vice-captain like Crystal Palace.

Just because Forest can easily beat Crystal Palace on the road doesn't mean they can easily beat Newcastle on the road.

And, starting from the end of the game against Crystal Palace, it was a small devil's schedule for the Forest team:

October 30 is an away game against Newcastle.

On November 4, in the second round of the group stage of the League Cup, Lazio was hosted at home.

On November 7, we played away to Liverpool.

The current state of the Forest team is not stable, sometimes good and sometimes bad, which is also an important reason for Donn's heart.

Such an opponent, unlike Norwich, can barely keep a draw if he is not in good shape, but he will lose if he makes a mistake......
