Chapter 20 Team Discipline (I)
On Monday, December 7, the players returned to training after a day off from the game. Most of them seem absent-minded. Because the team has just undergone an important personnel change that will affect their future.
The players change clothes in the dressing room and discuss their new manager β for some, not the 'new' manager.
Some are excited, some are depressed, some are terrified...... Sergei. Rebrov sat on the bench with his upper body up, his back against the wall. He didn't know if he should be feeling depressed or panicked right now.
It's ironic that a manager who trusts him is always out of class, and it's exactly the same as he did at Tottenham.
He was brought to north London from Dynamo Kiev by Tottenham boss Graham at the time, and both the club and the manager had high hopes for him, and the Β£11 million is a good illustration of how high that expectation is. But what? It didn't take long for Granham to be sacked because of the team's poor results. Rebrov himself was not doing well either, and when new manager Hodge brought in six new players in one go, Rebrov knew his time at White Hart Lane was over.
Tottenham Hotspur were tempted to sell him, but he was unpopular with Shepchenko in the European Cup. He was then briefly loaned to Fenerbahçe in Turkey, where he continued to perform poorly, scoring just one goal in half a season.
During this period, he lost not only his place in the club, but also the place in the Ukrainian national team.
Shepchenko had just lifted the European Champions League at AC Milan this summer, and he was greeted with a heroic welcome on his return holiday. When he appeared in front of the Ukrainian people with the trophy of the European Champions Cup, a huge cheer erupted in the square, as if he had not the European Cup in his hands, but the World Cup.
And what about him? Reduced to the point where no one wants it!
Why did the partners who became famous together end so differently?
In the rainy winter of London, he couldn't see through the heavy dark clouds overhead. Is the same under the Nottingham sky today?
Is it really not suitable for English football? Was it wrong for me to decide to go abroad in the first place? Don't...... Why is it that Andrei (Shepchenko) can succeed in Italy, but not me as his partner?
In fact, in the current team, Rebrov's situation is not good. As the most valuable and famous star in the team, he has the highest weekly salary, but he has no contribution to the team. But others can't say that the Ukrainians didn't do their best, they didn't do anything with money. He is definitely the one who is conscientious in training, and he never puts on the "Premier League striker" shelf, and no one sees him lazy. Sometimes the form shown in training is good, but when you go to the field, you can't find where the goal is...... It's really hard to figure out.
Another person who seems to be preoccupied is the team's young captain, Michael Brown. Dawson. However, he and Rebrov have different reasons. He stood in the middle of the locker room, watching his noisy teammates, wandering out of the world.
Why did the boss come back?
Veteran Ian. Jace stood up, looked at Dawson, who was still stunned, and frowned. Michael, that's not going to work. You're the captain, and you can't afford to hesitate.
He walked up and touched Dawson, calling his name softly, "Michael, Michael." β
"Huh?" Dawson came back to his senses and looked at Jace with some confusion.
Jace sighed inwardly, and then said to him, "Tell everyone to go out, change clothes for so long, if you let the boss know, he will definitely be angry." β
"Oh, yes...... Yes, the boss hates being late for training the most. Dawson nodded and muttered.
Don led the team every day before the team last season, and although he didn't care too much about the concept of time in life, he was not sloppy at work. If you start training at 9 a.m., you'll be penalized for running laps at 9:00 a.m.
In fact, Don still learned this from his high school homeroom teacher. When the bell rang for the stern teacher, he would stand outside the door with his watch in his hand to catch the late students. He thought it was a good trick and used it.
Dawson looked around the locker room, the coaches were not there, and he, the captain, should be responsible. So he clapped his hands and said loudly, "All right, everyone! Got dressed and we went out for training! β
Not everyone listened to him, and when everyone else got up and went out, Gareth. Taylor was sitting on the bench, and he hadn't even taken off his clothes.
Collymore's indifference to the discipline of the team has naturally developed a habit of free-spirited players. Taylor is a newcomer who only transferred to Forest this season, and has scored ten goals in less than half a season, and is the top scorer for Forest's striker, which is somewhat of a pose.
Dawson was tempted to go up and grab the man who didn't care and push him out. But Jace, who was next to him, grabbed him and shook his head.
Glaring at Taylor helplessly, Dawson and Jace ran out.
β»β»β» There was a misty drizzle in the gloomy sky, not big, but cold enough.
Donn and Walker were standing at the entrance of the passage from the locker room to the training ground, and it was already 8:59. They didn't have umbrellas, raincoats, or jumpers, but they just stood there, letting the cold winter rain gradually wet their hair and clothes, and then burrowing down their necks.
And they waited like this, but they still didn't see a figure running out.
Seeing this embarrassing scene, Walker said to Donn with a little guilt, "Collymore...... Never cared about team discipline ......"
Don nodded, "I understand." I don't expect a coach who doesn't come to the training ground himself regularly to bring out a group of players who are disciplined and time-minded. It's just that...... None of the team came out, which was a bit of a surprise to me. He looked down at his watch, and it was nine o'clock.
"Time, Des."
Walker nodded and began to turn on the stopwatch.
When the number jumped to forty-seven, a person finally ran out of it, and it was Andy. Reed.
"Boss!" Seeing Donn's long-lost face, Reed was a little excited. "Long time no see!"
Tang En pursed his lips and nodded with a smile: "That's right, Andy, long time no see." You look stronger than before. β
Reed scratched his head in embarrassment.
"What about the others?" Donn asked.
"Oh, they're still in there, Michael is urging them......" At this point, Reed suddenly remembered that Don hated being late for training, and he snapped to a halt.
Don looked at him and smiled, "Andy, you're forty-seven seconds late." You know what to do, right? β
"Uh...... IβI'm going to run laps. Reed turned to run, but was stopped by Don again.
"Don't worry, you're not alone today. Let's go and wait. β
Reed's Adam's apple choked, and he knew that everyone was going to be unlucky today, so he obediently stepped aside. But, why does he still have some expectations in his heart...... It's like looking forward to a good show.
Then more people came out of it, and most of them happily came up to say hello when they saw Don En standing on the sidelines waiting for them, and Don also responded with a smile, never mentioning the topic of running laps late.
Seeing Donn's performance, Reed became more and more excited. He completely forgot that he was also on the list of punishments, clasped his hands on his chest, and happily watched the play next to him, counting by the way how many people came out, and how many unlucky people did not come out in it.
Michael. Dawson appeared in front of Donn with Jace, and when he saw the head coach, his face was slightly unnatural. It was Don who took the initiative to greet him: "Michael! β
"Boss ......"
"I see you're not in good spirits, what's wrong? Kicked out of bed by your girlfriend? As he finished, both Walker and Dawson laughed.
"She wouldn't dare kick me without a leader."
"Well, that's good. If I lose a centre-back because you had a bed argument with her, I don't know how to explain it to the reporters. Ha ha! Go ahead. He patted Dawson on the shoulder, "Oh, by the way, how many people are in the locker room?" β
"One, chief."
Don nodded.
Dawson ran up to Reed and found him looking at the entrance of the passage and smirking.
"Hey, Andy, what are you doing?" He asked, puzzled.
"Ah, it's Michael!" Reed grinned and grabbed him, telling him to stand beside him and stay out of his way. "Taylor's whisk is still in the locker room, right?"
Dawson nodded: "He hasn't changed his clothes yet." β
Reid smiled even more, "Awesome! I've long since gotten tired of him, so I'm waiting to see the show, Michael! β
"Hmm." Dawson understood what Reed meant, and he understood what Don was going to do. He waited for Gareth with the same anticipation. Taylor came out of it.
The players stood on the training pitch in twos and threes, and the coaches were all on the sidelines. Donn and his assistant Des. Walker was standing at the entrance of the passageway, facing the direction of the locker room.
Rebrov is a little strange, why not start training? Aren't all the people here? What are you waiting for?
