Writing The Godfather of Champions was a very special experience for me, or rather a challenge, right?

For the first time, I tried to write about a protagonist who didn't match my age and experience. The age spans from fourteen to sixty years old, which is the biological age. As for the more illusory and ethereal things like mental age, it's even harder to say.

When I wrote "We Are the Champions", a lot of the characters were based on myself and my peers who were also youthful at the time. When I wrote "The Godfather of Champions", I didn't have this condition.

But there is also a prototype.

When it comes to Tonion's inspiration, it doesn't come from any one manager who exists in real life. Although it looks like he looks a lot like Mourinho. But in fact, the first time this image popped into my mind was because of a movie I watched a long time ago.

I have also mentioned that movie many times in "We Are the Champions", that is, "Sunday Again" starring Arsino, which is a movie that reflects American professional football, in which Arsinoe plays the protagonist Tony Mato, a down-and-out former champion coach of rugby who is a little too old to keep up with the times.

I've always been a fan of Al Pacino Film. Naturally, he is also fascinated by the image of the head coach he has created. Then came the idea to write a manager like Arsino. He's raunchy. He's full of swearing. His words are not rough. He is not angry. His voice was hoarse. Body language is abundant. He was stubborn. He will also suffer setbacks. will be teased and ridiculed. Of course, he will slap all his opponents in the end.

That's it. Tonion is out of the oven. Choose "Tony" as the name. It is also a tribute to the character created by Al Pacino.

So writing the story of Tonion Land for me. Most of the time it's a treat. I can feel that my ideal manager is coming to fruition. Be a living, believable, popular or unpopular person, but impossible to ignore.

I like to create characters. There's nothing more rewarding to me than creating a living person.

I write little by little. Perfect him little by little.

From crashing headlong into the world of professional football, the young man who is arrogant and domineering. At the age of fifty, the old man who knew the destiny of heaven and quieted down. I write slowly. The mind also changes with this process. I imagined myself being as frivolous and impulsive as he was. The words are not rough. I also imagined myself like him after going through a lot of things and coming back to peace. Longing for blandness.

This is also why the ending of "Godfather of Champions" is not as sensational as "We Are the Champions". For Zhang Jun, retirement is the ending of his most brilliant and sudden silence, and the contrast between before and after is quite large, so it is even more moving. But Tony is different, he is slowly, little by little to put away the dazzling and flamboyant light, like a slowly withering flower, the whole process is natural, expected, as if going down the steps, step by step, very natural.

This is the ending that is in line with Donn's character, so I handled it as it is now, which is a bit bland and not gorgeous enough, but it exudes a strong warmth and a touch of sadness.

I think I did it, and I love it. Whether it's Tony leaving slowly in the middle of tens of thousands of people to say goodbye, or disappearing in the rain and fog of late autumn in a car. It's all natural, and it's very much in line with the artistic conception of the last volume. Unlike writing about the ending of the champion, I was stunned several times when I wrote the ending of the champion. This character was later asked why it never appeared again. Actually, it's the result of one of my doings. When I first wrote such a character, I originally planned to let her have a relationship with Don, and it can be seen from the clues I revealed earlier that she had a good impression of Don before the crossing. But then I fell into an ethical contradiction, and what made her feel good was Donn's soul or Donn's **? If she is allowed to fall in love with Tang Sheng, then does she only like the body, not the soul? But if it weren't for Tang's body, there was really nothing to like, so he could only like the soul. If you like souls, then you shouldn't like Don, but you should like Don. But I never thought of letting Tang En and Yang Yan fall in love from the beginning.

In the second volume, she uses her death to make Wood more mature.

What I didn't expect was that after coming out, everyone's acceptance of this character was very high. When I told Silence that I was going to write Fia to death, he was surprised and said, "If you want to die on the street, you can do it!" So I got scared, I shrank my eggs, and finally I couldn't decide......

Honestly, it takes courage to kill a popular character, because I can't guarantee how many reads I'll lose if I do that. So I kept it, kept it, kept it until the last volume, and finally ......

3 About Chen Jian.

When I first wrote such a character, some people couldn't wait to go to the Longdi Sky Forum to post a sarcasm about me and created a savior of Chinese football, wait and see, in the end, it must be Chen Jian who led the Chinese team to win more championships.

But alas, to the disappointment of that fellow, I didn't do it.

Later, some people continued to speculate that Chen Jian was written by me as the hope of Chinese football.

When I write about football, I don't like to put the environment in which the protagonists are active in the big clubs that are already famous all over the world, which will reduce the space I can swing in half, and it is easy to offend people. That's why I always write about the down-and-out aristocrats, on the one hand, they have fallen and won't offend anyone, and on the other hand, they have stories that are worth waving.

That's why I chose Nottingham Forest. I chose her because she had a very glorious time, but now she is sad and down. Such a background is simply suitable for writing.

Later, as I got to know the Forest team better, the more I felt how correct and wise it was to make the choice in the first place. They used to have a very individual manager, Brian Raugh, who did a lot of things that would make history in English football, and it makes sense to have such a person, Donn, whose personality is completely out of line with the mainstream perception of England, to appear in the Forest team. In fact, I originally designed that Don En went out and saw a homeless and parentless little Lori orphan, and then kept at home to raise it, and the relationship between the two people changed from "father and daughter" to "husband and wife", but the title was never "dad".

But then I felt that it was so naked, so I changed it to the way it is now.

As for her name, it was indeed influenced by one of my favorite female singers, "Shaniaen".

I also designed a plot at the beginning, but unfortunately it didn't work in the end:
