Chapter 9: I'll Be Back
On 15 August, when Collymore led the team from Nottingham to Reading in west London to take on the hosts, Done's youth team hosted their first-round Youth League opponents, Leicester City, at the training base.
It is completely different from the media team following Collymore to Reading, the training base of the youth team is deserted, except for the parents, relatives and friends of some young players, there are even only two media, one is the Shaolin Abbot Station after the 80s, and the other is the "Nottingham Evening Post".
Don looked strangely at the well-mannered young man standing next to him.
'Mr. Journalist, the first-team game is in Reading, not at Wilford.' Donn kindly reminded the Corriere della Sera reporter Pierce. Bruce.
"I know, Mr. Coach." Bruce stood there, not turning to leave.
"You know why you're not leaving? The game only starts tomorrow and you can still stop by for a night to interview the colourful nightlife of the Forest players. ”
"How colorful, Mr. Coach?"
"Uh......" Donn looked at the sky and answered Bruce's question, "You'll have to ask Stan. Mr. Collymore. ”
Bruce laughed, "Mr. Coach, I was worried that you would collapse, and it seems that I was wrong. ”
"Huh?" Donn wondered, "Why should I be slumped?" ”
Bruce looked at Donn and saw that his surprised expression didn't look like it was fake, so he shook his head: "No, it's nothing. ”
"Alright, it's over chat time. Why don't you leave? ”
"Of course I'm not leaving, Mr. Coach. Not only will I not leave today, but I will not leave in the future. From now on I'm covering the Nottingham youth team. ”
Don opened his mouth wide, then scratched his head and muttered, "Whatever you want...... and then he turned back to the place where the team rested, making final preparations for the game.
Bruce suddenly called out to Donne: "Coach Donne! Can I interview you with a question? ”
Don turned to look at him, "Say." ”
"How sure do you think we can win against Leicester City?" Bruce pulled out his notebook and flipped it open to record Donn's answers.
Don waved his hand: "Don't remember, your question is meaningless." ”
Bruce was a little surprised, he didn't expect the answer he got to be this.
"Of course we will win. Do you have any more questions? ”
Hear this typical Tony. Donn-esque answer, Bruce smiled and shook his head: "No, I have no question to ask." ”
By the time Donn returned to the middle of the team, the young players had already changed into their game uniforms and were waiting for him to speak. Don looked at the blue sky above his head, and then at the expectant eyes of these children. If a person does something amazing, it will become a sign of that person for a period of time, and it will be mentioned on many occasions and many times. Like what Done did at half-time against West Ham United, everyone still remembers it. Wes. Mogan must have taken what he heard and saw about Tony as an adult. Don's bits and pieces were told to the group of children in front of him after returning to the youth team.
Although this was not Donn's intention, it must be admitted that Mogan did him a great favor by doing so. Small children are the easiest to have a cult of personality and now he Tony. Don is undoubtedly the idol in the hearts of this group of children, and these people will listen to everything he says.
It's nice and saves a lot of trouble.
Leicester's youngsters in the distance gathered to listen to their manager, wearing blue shirts with no numbers but no names, but they were just as trained in professional football as the lads at Forest.
At the empty Wilford youth training facility, apart from the absence of the three-storey stands and enthusiastic crowds, Donn felt that the environment he was in now was no different from the professional game.
"Listen, boys." Donn coughed and said with a solemn face, "I was just interviewed by a reporter over there, and he questioned your ability, and he thought it would be difficult for you to make a difference against the youth teams of the Premier League. Donn gestured to Pierce in the distance. Bruce.
The stimulated youngsters immediately turned to Bruce, yelling and waving their fists at him. Bruce, who was kept in the dark, didn't understand what the kids thought of him, and he waved in friendliness, but the kids didn't appreciate it.
"Alright, okay, don't embarrass that poor reporter." Don clapped his hands and motioned for everyone's attention to return to him. "The youngest of you here is seventeen years old, for most of you...... No, maybe for all of you, to be a pro, to be Michael. A star like Dawson is the goal of going to city games in the red jersey of the Forest team with your name on it. Am I wrong? ”
The children shouted and replied, "No! No! ”
"Yes! That's what we think! ”
"Good." Don nodded, "You are no longer eleven or twelve-year-old children, you are satisfied with practicing for four hours a week, and the rest of the time you have to carry your schoolbag to school to be a good doll." You've all signed a professional contract with the club and you're a professional player. Am I right? ”
"That's right! Right! We are professionals! "Seventeen or eighteen-year-old lads are waving their fists. If it weren't for the fact that most of them looked childish and only looked at their bodies, some people would have believed them to be professional players who played in the first team.
"So when you can't win the game, when you make people feel like you can't win, you're going to be looked down upon by them." Donn pointed at Pierce again. Bruce, "It's like that. I know you're all not convinced, I've already taught that guy a hard lesson! I told him - of course we will win! He'll regret underestimating you! ”
"Well said, Coach!"
"Yes! He'll regret it! ”
Don stretched out his hands and motioned for everyone to be quiet and listen to him. "But! We all know it's easy to talk about it, and anyone can brag about it! I want you to prove that I'm not wrong in the next game! Let the journalist who looks down on you regret his ignorance! ”
The children began to get excited, and Donn took the time to glance at George, who was standing at the outermost part of the crowd. Wood clenched his fists tightly as well, biting his lip hard. While he won't be on the pitch for this game, Donn is happy to see Wood play like that. This is a great opportunity for these kids to instill their own football philosophy, and he needs to add another fire.
"Remember!" Don waved his arm vigorously and smashed it to the ground, "Tony. Coach Donn's soccer is winning soccer! From the moment you change clothes in the locker room, put all the other miscellaneous thoughts out of me! You just have to think about how to win! Tell yourselves: I'm going to win today! Instead of 'what if I lose'! ”
"We're going to win!" Wes. Mogan led the way and shouted, and the crowd's victory declaration even caught the attention of the visiting team, who looked at the frenzied opponent in bewilderment.
"We're going to win!!"
Ninety minutes later, Nottingham's Leicester City youth team went home crying with a score of 1:4, completely stunned by the fierce expressions and desperate efforts of their peers in the game.
Bruce was delighted from the sidelines about Donn's achievement, but the Forest's youth boys didn't seem to like him and ran past him back to the dressing room with grimaces and fists.
Just when he felt inexplicable, Don walked up to him with a bright smile and took the initiative to speak, "Mr. Bruce, go find me at the Forest Bar tomorrow afternoon, and I'll invite you to drink." Thank you so much for this game! ”
Bruce scratched his head, not understanding why Don had suddenly become enthusiastic, but he was glad to accept the kindness. "I'll go, but thank me for what?"
"Well, this ...... Thank you anyway. ”
The next day, Bruce was at the Forest Bar with Donn, Kenny. Burns, along with other loyal Forest fans, sipped a beer as they watched Forest's away game against Reading on TV.
Under the bright afternoon sun in Reading, the Forest played one of the worst games of the season so far. The highly-anticipated Rebrov exposed his age-old problem of not adapting to the English style of football, and he was overwhelmed by the tall, strong, and brutal Reading defenders, who were substituted early in the 60th minute.
The final result of this game was that the Forest team lost a 0:3 away game, and they were defeated from the scene to the score, and they had no way to fight back!
When the game was broadcast in the final moments, a close-up of Collymore's blank face appeared on the TV screen, and suddenly there was a concerted cry in the forest bar: "Tony! Tony! Tony! Tony! "These fans chanting Done's name as if they were cheering on the team from the stands.
Don and Bruce stood in the middle of them, Bruce was startled by the sudden shout, and he looked around the bar in surprise, and he saw that almost everyone in the room was standing up, clapping and shouting Donn's name.
Compared to Bruce's surprise, Donn was calm, or he took it for granted.
"Mr. Donn, is this ......" Bruce asked, confused.
Don grinned, showing two rows of neat teeth, like a lion, the king of beasts, surrounded by the awe of the animals, glanced at Bruce, and then roared in a shout that could lift the ceiling, "Mr. Bruce, someday, someday I'll be back!" When the time comes, you'll hear even greater cheers than that! He opened his arms, clenched them into fists, and swung them upwards with all his might.
