Thank God, the Rong family's new house was finally built, and we were able to leave China...... I was amazed at Rong's talent for learning, he had basically mastered conversing in Portuguese—he couldn't write yet, and he stumbled to read, but he had no problem listening and speaking. Perhaps, as he boasted, if it weren't for the fact that his family was too poor, he would have gone to the county town to attend middle school and eventually become the first genius in the village to be admitted to university, instead of herding sheep in this poor ravine and keeping a dog company......

I told Rong that he could get ahead without going to university, because he was also a genius in football!
