Part 1 The Establishment of the Free Heart Chapter 35 Darkness
The city that never sleeps.
This is a city built on the Arctic ice cap.
In 3285 AD, due to the rapid expansion of human civilization, the earth was finally overwhelmed. Extremely rising temperatures have caused the Earth's poles to melt dramatically, and waves have flooded most of the world.
Humanity loses the planet.
However, humanity, which has acquired the ability to colonize, has not become extinct.
They thrive on other planets and soon make a comeback.
Like other desolate stars, they re-ruled the Earth and brought it back to life quickly.
Twelve 38-kilometer-long super-energy pumps were driven from both ends of the North and South Poles, and the powerful power quickly stabilized the climate changes in the North and South Poles.
People move mountains and reclaim the sea, catch the wind and the moon, reshape the environment, and make the earth a paradise on earth in a new way.
Ambitious humanity has therefore declared that the Earth is the permanent home planet of mankind, which is only used for tourism and recuperation, and that humanity is not allowed to establish any polluting heavy industry here.
This is supported by all of humanity.
The good wish to protect the home planet has finally been truly realized after human technology has reached a certain level.
Four thousand years have passed.
Six superpumps in the North and South Poles have been updated many times and still play an important role in regulating the weather. The number of people working around the six pumping stations has also increased from 342 to 1,400.
Soon after, it became a famous tourist area, where people felt the taste of winter, admired the beauty of the aurora, spent the long eternal night, and reminisced about the history of the ice fields, and the number of humans became more and more numerous.
Where there are people, there is prosperity, and the city that never sleeps slowly appeared.
During the half-year darkness of the Arctic ice sheet, the city is like the only light in the night.
However, even the most prosperous cities have places where the light does not shine.
On the outskirts of the city that never sleeps, there is a cold and dark ice field.
This vast ice sheet, covering an area of 150,000 square kilometers, is surrounded by forty-eight towering icebergs, which surround the city that never sleeps like real peaks. These icebergs withstand the cold winds of the Arctic, keeping the temperature of the city that never sleeps in a relatively warm environment, while also acting as a regulator of the continental climate.
Because of the cold, no one will stay on these icebergs for long.
The low temperature of minus 40 degrees Celsius is enough to put most people off.
But in this extremely low temperature, someone is sitting on one of the icebergs wearing only a microfiber suit.
Sitting on the top of the glacier, Nora sits in front of two full crates of beer, her silver microfiber coat glistening in the faint moonlight of the sky. Microfiber coatings have little thermal insulation effect due to their superconducting effect on neural connections. But the cold wind blew on Nora, but it had no effect at all, as if it didn't affect her at all.
There was also a man not far behind her.
Stark!
He was standing a few meters away from Nora, also wearing only a single coat, and his body emitted a strange red glow.
This light was not far away, only about three meters around Stark's body, but it had a strange warm energy.
When it falls on the ice, it melts.
"Some things, after all, are easy to think about." Nora said suddenly.
There was no clue to it.
Stark didn't speak, he knew what Nora wanted to say, he would say.
Nora said, "I used to think that in the land of eternal night, people would be accustomed to living in darkness, talking to each other, groping with each other, a paradise that never sleeps...... But I was naΓ―ve. Look at the city that never sleeps, where there is a real paradise that never sleeps. β
She shook her head and dropped a beer can, which crashed into the iceberg with a clanging sound, and landed on the ice at the bottom, rolled a few times, and then gradually turned into a puddle of clear water and disappeared without a trace. The beer cans are made of eco-friendly materials, and when they are empty, they automatically decompose without any waste.
After opening another bottle, Nora continued: "Dreams are only dreams after all, and if a dream is not done reasonably, then the moment it is realized is the moment when the dream is broken." Are you right, Stark? β
Stark scratched his head in some distress: "You, like Renault, speak too far and I don't understand." But even so, I can at least understand one thing, and that is that when you say dreams, you should not only mean this sleepless paradise. β
Nora sighed, "You always understand things that don't need to be understood, Stark. β
Stark said: "I'm more concerned about how you can be sure that Renault will find here. You said that Sleepless Heaven refers to the land of eternal night, but you didn't say that it was the North Pole, well, I know that the North Pole is the only place of eternal night, but you didn't say that it is the city that never sleeps, well, I also know that the city that never sleeps is the only big city in the North Pole, but you didn't say that you are not in the city. β
Stark's babbling speech made the corners of Nora's mouth twitch.
Her slightly hoarse voice sounded again: "Renault knows I'm not in the city, I'm here...... It's about finding the darkness. β
"And what if he doesn't remember?"
"Then he's not Renault."
Stark stopped talking.
He didn't know what had happened between Nora, Claire and Renault, but he knew that men had better not ask about things like this.
"Okay." "I hope you're right," he said. β
Nora is right.
An hour later, the lights of a speeding car appeared at the far end of the ice field.
Instead of entering the city that never sleeps, the speeding car flew around the city in a circuitous way, looking for it along the ice peaks.
The glossy ice peaks shone with a holy light in the light, without the slightest concealment.
The lights swept over one by one, all the way along the ice peak.
Nora watched from afar, but sat motionless and did not call.
When the car swept over the sixth ice peak, Stark finally couldn't bear it. The red light on him began to enlarge, like a dim light in the eternal night.
The speeding car began to fly straight in this direction.
Nora glanced back at him, and Stark spread her hands, "I didn't call him." β
Nora turned around and said nothing.
The lights of the speeding car came and landed on Nora.
Gone in a flash.
Lights.
The speeding car circled and landed on the ice peak.
Renault stepped out of the car, followed by Clarisse.
The woman's presence caused Nora's eyes to shrink abruptly.
This look fell on Renault's eyes, he froze for a moment, then realized something, and cried out: "No! β
He stepped forward, dragging Clarice behind him.
Contrary to his expectations, Nora did not rush up, but took a few steps.
Then her figure vanished.
Just disappeared completely into the long night, and there was no longer a trace of existence.
Renault stared at this scene in amazement, and his mouth could not close in surprise.
Stark also realized something and shouted, "Nora don't! β
The dangerous instinct caused Renault to pounce on himself, holding Clarice and throwing herself on the cold ice.
Brush!
A blade pierced the darkness and stabbed Renault's shoulder.
Blood!
"Renault, you damn bastard, how dare you be sorry Claire!" Nora's form appeared in the darkness, she was holding a piece of ice spike in her hand, and she didn't know how she got it down, but surprisingly, there was still a trace of black gas lingering on the ice thorn.
With ferocious murderous intent in her eyes, she swung her ice spike and stabbed down again.
"No!" Stark rushed over, grabbed Nora and lunged forward.
Nora struggled but couldn't break away from Stark's massive strength, and her wrist flipped down, and the icicle stabbed Stark's thigh.
"Whew!" Stark let out a cry of pain, causing him to roll his eyes, but the next moment a flame erupted from the wound in his thigh, melting the ice spike with a single touch.
Nora had already taken the opportunity to break away from Stark, slashing her right hand at the ground, and an ice spike swam along her hand, eventually turning into a new ice spike and stabbing Renault again.
"Enough!" Renault shouted and waved his hand back, but Nora's forward gesture was blocked, and he couldn't move forward.
She bared her teeth, and her figure disappeared again.
Renaud knew that it was not good, and pushed his hand forward, and he heard a thud on the ice, then the sound of something scratching on the ice, and then Nora's figure appeared in the distance.
She was thrown more than ten meters by this blow.
She wanted to rush again, but Renault rushed over and said loudly:
"Alright, Nora, I didn't do anything to be sorry for Claire. Clarice was my neighbor in the nursing home, and I escaped because of her help, and I was innocent with her...... It's like between me and you. β
At the last sentence, Nora froze.
She stood there for a few moments before she finally threw away the ice spikes.
Glancing at Clarice, she said, "If you have anything to do with him, I'll kill you." β
Clarice replied unceremoniously, "You've already tried it once." β
Stark grumbled, "Okay, I said, can we stop being jealous of all these contentions?" Shouldn't we start by talking about what happened to each of us? Oh, by the way, as if we've seen each other's abilities? β
At this time, he has become a clear man.
