Chapter Seventy-Seven: The Sacred Mountain (Part II)

Ye Zi felt that the blood in his whole body had coagulated.

Two shadows slowly appeared in the night on the left, large and strange, not the usual evil beasts. Closer, Ye realized that it was two humanoid creatures riding on the backs of a hybrid species. They were tall, twice the size of a normal man, unarmoured, and dressed in clothes of indiscernible material—nay, they were barely dressed, but rather like puffy animal skins, tightly wrapped from head to toe, and bulging in many places.

The most striking thing is the headgear worn by the two men, which is obviously a modified head of an evil beast, hideous and terrifying. The eyes of the skull were gouged out and a reddish-brown hedron was stitched together. A patchy tube protrudes from the lower edge of their skulls and extends into the massive carapace sac behind them. One of them also had several spears stuck in his mount, and the other wore a strangely shaped iron glove—they had only three fingers.

Only one word flashed in Ye Zi's heart: "Devil".

"Meet the enemy!"

Hakala was the first to react, and her piercing screams drew everyone's attention back to the enemy. The stone girl reached out and pressed it to the ground, turning the large snow field in front of her into a soft swamp. This is the correct response: the mount under the opponent's crotch is a mixed breed of wolf's head and wings, which is fast and can fly short distances. But these two obviously couldn't, their wings had been cut off, and the bare bones were tied with hemp rope and held in the hands of the devil. If they can't fly through the swamp, they will have to make a detour, which will buy the other sisters time to react.

However, the enemy did not act according to the witches' thoughts, and they drove their mounts forward, plunged headlong into the swamp, and then, with the force of their momentum, leaped from the beast's back, crossed a distance of several feet, and landed behind the stone maiden. And there, that's where the non-fighting sisters gather.

"Disperse!" Before Ye Zi's words fell, the devil wearing three-fingered iron gloves had already slaughtered in the crowd. His agility didn't match his size, and before a close witch could react, he was punched in the head. Then two more sisters had their necks pinched off by their stout iron hands, and the others came to their senses and fled in panic. Only Snow stood still, and although her abilities were not suitable for combat, she did not turn and run away, but took the crossbow from her back and shot it at the enemy. The Devil of the Iron Hand dodged sideways, raising his foot and kicking her out. The force is so great that it is like a muffled thunder. The little girl flew out and fell to the ground only to tumble and fall to the ground, and blood clots gushed out of her mouth.

The devil with the spear turned around and walked towards the stone girl, who was already frightened and overwhelmed. Just as the spear was about to plunge into the witch's chest, a flame exploded in front of him. The red pepper rolled under the enemy's crotch, took the stone girl's hand and turned to run. The other party wanted to catch up, but was stopped by a black wall of qi.

The leaves poured all their magic into the earth, and all kinds of plants grew wildly, twisting into a thorny vine, crawling towards the Iron Hand Devil, and the "Pain" demon snake summoned by Hakala also bit the opponent's arm. Just as he waved his hand to shake off the annoying vipers, the vines that had crept up from behind suddenly pounced, wrapped around his feet, and then pulled backwards, and the massive body of the enemy fell to the ground with a bang.

"Run, sisters, run!" shouted Leaf, her voice trembling with fear. Run, get away from these terrible monsters, they are the source of evil recorded in ancient books, the devil who has emerged from the gates of hell!

The snake's torture venom didn't seem to work against them, and the fallen iron hand arched his body, as if trying to grab the vine that was dragging him around, and the spear-wielding devil saw that his companion was in trouble, and quickly turned his attention to the leaf that was manipulating the vine. He raised his spear and assumed a throwing position, his arm rapidly expanding. The bulging outer skin is stretched to a thin layer, through which you can even see dark red blood vessels and bones.

"Leaf, beware!" the stone girl turned the ground into a quagmire again, this time directly at the opponent's feet. The devil slammed down, and the spear he threw instantly changed direction, and slammed diagonally into the ground in front of Yezi, and the spear body that was nearly a person tall almost completely submerged, scaring Ye into a cold sweat.

The swollen arm shrank down quickly after throwing the spear, and quickly became like dry wood.

The spear-wielding devil can't throw continuously!, she immediately realized that now was a good time to escape. The other witches also noticed this, and the stone maidens and Red Pepper and Chasing Wind ran past the iron hands that were still struggling on the ground, and ran to the unattended Hakara, wanting to take the mentor and leave with them. Only the leaves could see that the devil, who was being pulled by the vines, stretched out his hands to the three of them.

What does he want to do?

"No—" Before she could even say her word to warn, a blinding blue light burst out of the devil's iron hand, like a bolt of lightning that pierced the sky, twisting and striking the three sisters. The blue light jumped between the three of them, making a crackling explosion. They plummeted with white smoke and fell to their knees, their robes burning.

The attack seemed to drain the enemy's strength, and he let out a heavy breath and stopped moving. At this time, the magic of the leaves also reached its limit, and the vines disintegrated and differentiated, and soon turned into dead weeds.

It's all over, she thought. The teacher's desperate cries seemed to become far away, and her whole body strength faded like a tide, and she fell to the ground weakly.

After only a moment's rest, Iron Hand slowly rose from the snow and walked up to a terrified Hakara, where no one could stop him. The devil reached out and grabbed the teacher's throat, who desperately tried to break the other's fingers, but it was meaningless in the face of the disparity in strength. During the struggle, the demon snake surged out and bit the enemy's arm and neck, but the opponent remained unmoved and continued to tighten his iron hand.

At this moment, an accident happened, and a demon snake attacked indiscriminately and bit off the leather tube under the devil's head. A thick red mist erupted from the breach, soon enveloping Hakala and the devil. The former let out a terrifying scream, and his skin quickly festered under the red mist, revealing tendons and white bones. The latter let go of the iron hand and tried to block the pipe in a panic, but as the fog quickly dissipated, his body began to tremble uncontrollably, and soon he fell headlong and never moved again.

The spear-wielding devil, half-buried in the swamp, cried out at this, and the leaves had never heard such a sound before, like a mixture of a shrill hiss and a low roar, which pierced her ears with pain.

But the roar of the enemy did not cause the leaves to flee, but instead allowed her to see the only chance to win.

Biting her lip, she struggled to her feet, retrieved Snow's fallen crossbow, rewound her arrow, and walked over to the spear-wielding devil. The devil clearly understood what she wanted to do, and waved his arms desperately, but in the swamp, the more he struggled, the faster he sank. He tried to cover the tube, but the part that extended to the carapace sac behind his back was exposed.

For my lost sisters, Ye Zi thought so, and pulled the trigger on the pipe.

The bolt pierced through the tube accurately, and the red mist erupted from the breach, sending the opponent's head down when the mist was gone.

She killed the devil.

Dropping the crossbow and looking back at the more than a dozen lifeless sisters, Ye Zi fell to his knees and cried loudly.
