CHAPTER XXV

Fifty, seventy, one hundred...... Two hundred......

The predators were running fast through the vast, dark subterranean space, littered with huge balls of fungus, each containing a creature that Lynn was counting in number.

These balls are large and small, some are only a few centimeters, some are more than ten meters, because the roof of the cave is about thirty meters from the ground, so they can put very large things, and the number of these balls is far more terrifying than their size, the deeper you go into the cave, the denser they become.

Lynn now knew why so many fungal monsters were attacking in the first place, and although she still didn't know how they managed to climb up through the vertical caves, it at least proved that they were extremely numerous.

When they count to more than a thousand, the predators go deeper and see a near-endless ball of fungus.

Lynn had begun to doubt,

What do you want so many fungal monsters here? As a defensive force, no, their number has exceeded that of 'to hold a place'...... They are preparing for a war!

Lin was not wrong at first, that these fungi were capable of consciously controlling a creature and then using them as their own troops......

The creatures in these fungal balls seem to be in a state of sleep and motionless, but if you listen and look closely, you will find that they make a 'thump' beating sound like a heart, some of them are very slow, some are fast, and they all have one thing in common is that they are getting faster and faster.

Lynn speculated that they might have been asleep for too long, so it would take some time to wake them up, but it was confirmed that they were all alive. And it's all in the process of waking up!

Case. We'll have to burn them before then!

The exploratory predators immediately erupted in flames at the surrounding fungus balls. Just when Lynn thought she could smell the barbecue again......

'Click......'

Suddenly, Lynn heard a voice.

The predators stopped breathing fire, and the flames they spewed began to burn and spread, and the predators gathered in the direction where the sound came from.

One of the creatures woke up......

The fungus ball that made the sound was more than four meters tall, and with the sound, it slowly cracked like an egg shell, and with it, a huge head protruded from the crack.

This is...... Beetle?

Accompanied by the bursting of the entire fungus ball. A giant creature appeared in front of the predators, covered in hyphae but still discernible in its original black carapace, with six stout arthropods and three fungal sacs on either side of its body that were constantly contracting and expanding.

Is the fungus providing oxygen to this giant beetle? They actually know how to keep these giant insects in this way.

"Woo......!" The giant beetle let out a roar, and it suddenly spewed out a thick purple mist from its mouth, hitting the two predators in front of it.

As soon as the predator came into contact with this purple mist, the carapace of his whole body was instantly corroded and festered, which seemed to be an extremely powerful dissolving liquid, not only that. Their bodies are also invaded by a large number of hyphae.

This beetle spews out fungus dust that retains its ability to infect!

The two predators quickly ulcerated and could not move, and the phage should be able to cope with the attack. However, it is impossible for the muscle cells of the predator's body to be converted into a resistant force.

The beetle began to prepare to spray at the other predators, and the predators immediately dispersed to completely surround the beetle, and the moment they surrounded the beetle, several flames suddenly erupted towards it.

"Woo......" In the flames, the beetle kept shaking its body, and the fungus on its body secreted a layer of mucus, which completely enveloped it, and the flames could not continue to burn on it, and some predators had already sprayed the burning liquid in their bodies.

The beetle turned around as soon as the flame was extinguished, and a thick spray of fungus dust instantly sprayed on the surrounding predators, but this time the predators had reacted in advance and quickly retreated to avoid the attack.

The predators pounced on the beetle, crawling onto the beetle's back, cutting through the fungal skin of the beetle with their claws, piercing through the shrinking and expanding sacs.

Every time the predators cut through the skin, a large amount of miasma came out of the cracks, but the predators were able to temporarily close their breathholes unaffected, at which point the beetle let out a roar of rage, and it began to swing all its arthropods and began to rush into the ground.

'Bang! The beetle slammed its body across the surrounding pillars, squeezing some of the predators on its sides into a pulp, and then it continued to rush to the next pillar, apparently trying to deal with the predators on its body in this way.

But now the predators have jumped off the beetles, because they have cut open the cysts.

The ......beetle didn't seem to notice it, it was still running, but it was running slower and slower......

'Boom! The huge body fell to the ground with a thud, and the beetle never moved again.

The predators now walked to the side of the beetle and took a closer look, those sacs were really used to breathe it, it seemed that the beetle's ability was quite perfect, in fact, it did not rely on its own strength, miasma, fungus dust, and so on These are the abilities of plague fungi, it is said that it is to fight with beetles, but it is better to say that the beetle is like a carrier.

However, it's also because predators can pick on the skin of most creatures, and their jumping ability makes it difficult for giant mobs to attack them.

Now the carcass of the beetle is beginning to change, and the hyphae are growing at a rate that can be seen by the sight of large creatures, and they seem to be preparing to recover the carcass of this beetle......

Some of the predators with fuel spewed flames, and the beetle's carcass burned to the ground, the fire-resistant liquid it had secreted had been spilled during the run.

Now that the beetles are dead, the fungi are still alive, but they do not react to the burning of predators, and they can quickly react to secrete fire liquid, and it seems that the reaction speed of these fungi must be related to the beetle's brain.

And that's just the first one.

There was a constant 'knock' all around...... The sound of ......', which means that there are still countless creatures waiting to wake up, and the fire that the predator set up before does not know when it will be extinguished.

Chibcha bugs.

There are many Chibucha bugs watching the predators in the dark, and some of the predators have acoustic detection abilities, so they can be spotted.

They hide in this cave, seemingly inseparable from the fungus, but they don't seem to be able to command the fungus.

What the hell is going on with these creatures? (To be continued......)
