(83) The Royal Capital (Yuffie Stanmidz, II)
"Compared to the Inil, the number of demon clans is indeed not large. Mantianxing turned and walked to a small, closed, somewhat hidden door next to the gate, "Come with me, go faster from this side." β
She knocked on the closed door, pulled out a metal card, and passed it through a square hole in the door. Soon, the door opened inward, and a guard with a golden mane on his face stepped out and saluted respectfully to the trio.
"Welcome back, Lord Starry." The two-meter-tall guard greeted the puppet girl with a somewhat funny appearance, but the respect on his face was obviously not fake, "Please come in, what do you need me to do for you?" β
"Don't be inhibited, Golden Night." Man Tianxing replied with an elegant smile, and then introduced Yuffie and Lin to each other, "The matter of this investigation, with the efforts of them and a Gerno person, has been properly resolved. Help me inform the Council of Elders, and I will report back to them later on the details. As for nowβ" she streaded, "I want to take the two of them to rest in the city." β
The guard bowed down and earnestly complied with the request of the puppet girl. Yuffie followed the starry sky through the narrow passage in front of him, up the spiral steps, and then to the top of the wide wall. Looking down from here, most of the city is integrated into her vision.
Her first impression of the city was that it was vibrant, even a little overdone. Most of the neighborhoods as far as the eye can see are filled with youkai dressed and in all shapes and sizes, whether they are original residents or travelers who have come to visit or do some small business. Pedestrians were not disgusted by the slightly chaotic scene, strolling leisurely through the streets, or gazing at the shops with interest, stopping from time to time to talk to the shopkeepers.
Compared to the strictness of Glow City, the capital of the Orren Empire, it was like another world.
"It seems that the saying that youkai prefer to live alone is not true." Lin covered the sunlight above her head with her hands and squinted her eyes to look down, "Huh? There's a little guy over there, stealing the traveler's things. She patted the puppet girl's arm, "Do you want to care?" β
Man Tianxing shook his head, "The Alliance is not capable of providing a stable job for every demon clan who comes to the city, and most of the monsters lack companions and clansmen who can help. She sighed softly, "This kind of situation is not uncommon in Xiyang City...... And, there's something worse. β
"Is it the organization Noka mentioned?" Yuffie asked thoughtfully.
"That's it." The puppet girl restrained her smile and looked in the direction of the inner city, "It only takes a small amount of money to contain a group of youkai who can't make a living, and then instill in them the awareness that "in this situation, humans have taken over the land that belongs to them". She lowered her voice slightly, "There may even be one or more elders behind that organization. After all...... In the current parliament, there are not a few people who advocate fighting with human beings. β
"So what to do?" Lynn's face was full of unwillingness, "Just watch them develop?" β
"That's not something we can handle, Lynn." Man Tianxing said patiently, "But someone will deal with it." Now, let's get our own things done. β
She walked past the guards who saluted her and walked down the city walls, stepping onto the wide streets that led to the inner city.
β¦β¦
They walked through the bustling but slightly cluttered streets, and made their way into the inner city of the royal capital, all the way to the temple where the parliament was located.
Compared with the bustling outer city, the inner city of Xiyang City is much quieter. This is the residence of the elders, the powerful youkai, and the mysterious 'demon king'. Ordinary residents and travellers are only allowed to enter the area if they have a letter of invitation or if there is an emergency to inform the council.
Obviously, the position of the stars in the alliance is unusual. The guards treated her with great respect, even to Yuffie and Lynn as fellow travelers.
They traveled to the council with the puppet girls to report the entire incident to the Coalition elders.
There were seven elders they met. Yuffie couldn't tell their race, but each elder contained a magic that rivaled that of a high-ranking wizard.
Unlike wizards, these monsters don't restrain their powers. Maybe it's the habit here, but maybe it's because they don't know how to control the magic finelyβYuphie whispered to himself as she listened to the doll girl's report.
The whole reporting process was lackluster. The stars truthfully recounted their experiences, and the elders asked a few questions of the elders, and they answered them truthfully. Perhaps because they were "outsiders" and had a brief understanding of what had happened, they were asked to leave the conference hall, leaving only the stars in the conference room to continue the discussion with the elders.
The two were taken to a spacious and comfortable lounge, where the waiter brought them tea and snacks, and then respectfully left.
Yuffie picked up a piece of pastry and took a bite. This traditional demon dim sum has a snow-white appearance and is extremely soft, and it can even be said to melt in your mouth. The sweet taste spread in her mouth along with the tea, turning into a sudden sense of happiness, diluting the exhaustion she had accumulated along the way.
"That's pretty good." She exhaled with satisfaction, "I'm going to ask about how to make this kind of dim sum, maybe I can make it for myself often in the future." β
"Speaking of which." Lin leaned over amusedly, "If I'm not mistaken, your wish when you were a kid was to become a dim sum chef, right?" β
"Yes, because at that time, my mother always brought delicious snacks for me and my father." Yuffie narrowed his eyes slightly, reminiscing about the warmth of the past, "I ended up being a witch - probably not living up to my mother's expectations, right?" β
"Well, what about later?" Lin swallowed a mouthful of dim sum, her eyes blinked, and she didn't know what she was thinking, "Wait until any day, if we want to take a break and stop studying secret arts and traveling all day, do you want to open a dim sum shop?" β
It may have been too long for now, butβand perhaps it wasn't bad," the thought crossed Yuffe's mind gently.
"Okay." She replied softly, "If there really is a day, what should we call our store?" β
"Of course it isβ" Lynn held up a finger, but didn't pick up the context, "no, let me think about it, it's a pretty important thing." β
The door to the lounge was slowly pushed open, and the stars walked into the room, looking at the two with a slightly mysterious smile.
"His Royal Highness the Demon King wants to meet with you." She said, "Come with me if you're ready." β
"Demon King?" Lin asked a little puzzled, "Isn't the administrator of the alliance the Council of Elders, why is there a king?" β
"Is it a tradition or a symbol...... Anyway, that's probably the kind of situation. The puppet girl replied casually, "For specific details, when you meet His Highness, you can ask each other directly." β
Yuffie nodded, stood up, and walked over to the puppet girl. Lin poured the tea from the cup into her mouth, rinsed her mouth gently, and followed. Together, they walked through the corridor to a white door with delicate reliefs, but slightly out of harmony with the whole hall.
"Please come in." Mantianxing knocked on the door, then pushed it open inside, "I hope you have a nice chat." β
