(Ninety-Seven) Investigation (Yuffie Stanmidz, IV)
Yuffie stood up, stepped forward slightly, and then made a few quick gestures to turn the power of the magic into a sound that reached Lea's ear.
"Long time no see. It's me, Yuffie. Looking for a place to drink? β
The young ranger had clearly been on guard. His body tensed suddenly, and only after hearing the content of the words did he slowly relax. After a moment, he tilted his head slightly, met Yuphe's gaze, and strode over to her.
"Let's go." A smile appeared on his face, "Where are you going?" β
"Just follow me." Yuffie patted the other man on the shoulder, which was also the habit of her body now, "Speaking of which, how did you recognize me?" β
"Because of the look in your eyes." Leia replied narrowly, "A normal man wouldn't stare at me with the kind of gaze you have. β
Yuffie shook his head in his heart. Her instincts told her that the ranger in front of her was just pretending to be inappropriate - the question just now might be related to some secret of the other party, and it was reasonable that it would not be answered. But...... It's not bad to have time to pay attention to your eyes and expressions, she thought.
The 'caravan' with one more man returned to the tavern they had visited in the morning. The hall was still deserted, and the boss was still humming a strange tune, except for an extra robed man, pouring himself a drink in the corner.
Yuffie greeted the shopkeeper and motioned for Leia to treat her this time. The young ranger unceremoniously ordered a large glass of ale and a few side dishes, and then sat down at the table in the center.
"Find me something, tell me." Leia took a large sip of ale wine and let out a comfortable sigh, "I'm really lucky, I can still pick up a lunch when I come to a place like this." β
Yuffie sat down across from the young ranger and motioned for the shopkeeper to add another pair of cutlery and a cup of white teaβa local drink that tasted slightly lighter than the black tea of the El Continent. Hearing her words, the young ranger looked at the cup in his hand and showed a look of regret.
"Hey, it's a shame you don't drink." Leia sighed exaggeratedly, "This isn't like what a guard is supposed to do. β
The girl did not respond to Leia's words. The Wizards' attitude towards alcoholic beverages is divided into two factions, one believing that alcohol inspires experimentation and creative spellcasting, and the other believing that alcohol anesthetizes the mind and makes spells and experiments more prone to error, both of which she and Lynn fall into.
"I thought you were in trouble for the moment." She shifted the subject and cast a spell to keep their conversation inaudible, "Why are you the only one here, your companion?" β
"Don't take me for a short-sighted guy. I'm having a bit of a holiday with that bastard, but I'm even more disgusted with the organization itself. Leia shrugged, a little disgruntled in her words, "I heard what the hell this girl is going to do, so I'll come and investigate." This kind of action is not suitable for a large group of people, so I let them rest first. β
"In that case, we can work together." Lynn, who was sitting to her right, interjected, "What did you hear, tell me about it?" β
The young ranger glanced at Lynn with a look as if he had suffered a loss.
"You know, the normal logistics and transportation of this organization are all in charge of that guy Wei Feng." He picked up a piece of chopsticks and sliced beef, stuffed it into his mouth and chewed, "But the other day, the people I stayed at the post station saw a few guys from the fog department carrying two fully loaded wagons, and they didn't know where they were going to go. He took a sip, "As the saying goes, if something goes wrong, it's a demonβby the way, what are you here for?" β
Yuffie briefly recounted how they met with the current Emperor and promised to investigate the attack. Hearing that they had received the token granted by the Emperor, Leia whistled loudly and drank the remaining liquid from the cup.
"Yours are the real ones." He raised his glass to the shopkeeper and motioned for him to bring another glass of wine, "Say, how do you want to cooperate?" β
Yuffie didn't answer right away. She gathered her thoughts for a moment, watched the shopkeeper place another wooden cup in front of Leia, and then returned to the back of the bar before she said what she thought: "We plan to meet with Shui Yun as an envoy first and ask her for information about the attack." This may not get any key information, but it can find out the attitude of the other party. And ......," she turned her head to look out the window, "I still think that the one who can govern the city like this should not be a bad person." β
"Whatever you think." Leia was noncommittal to her words, "And then." β
"What was your original plan?" She asked rhetorically, "Could it be the same as last time, forcibly breaking into the City Lord's Mansion to interrogate?" β
"I wanted to do this, but unfortunately it didn't work this time." Leia tapped her fingers on the table, "Why don't I grab someone and you use a spell to pry her mouth open?" β
"I'm afraid it's useless, the fog department is the agency in charge of intelligence, and it's unlikely that the peripheral members will know important information." Yuffie shook his head and rejected the other party's proposal, "Secret art can control thoughts, but it can't distinguish between truth and falsehood. Unless you have a way to capture Shui Yun, we'll probably only get disguised information. β
Leia gave her a blank look, "Then what do you say you are going to do?" β
"Don't underestimate the possibilities of secret arts." Yuffie stretched out his chopsticks and took the last slice of beef on the plate into his mouth, "As long as you can find something related to those two carriages, or take us to the station, I will have a way to determine its approximate whereabouts." β
Hearing her say this, the young ranger finally raised his eyebrows and smiled with satisfaction, "It's really not a bad thing to know you. He held up the empty cup in his hand, "In that case, I wish us a happy cooperation." β
Yuffie touched him with the teacup in his hand, and suddenly remembered another question, "Leia, have you and Yu Feng known each other for a long time?" β
The young ranger snorted, a kind of acquiescence.
"What are you going to do if one day you have to be enemies?" She asked, slightly curious, though the question didn't really make much sense.
"Give him a hard lecture and make that guy understand what stupid things he did." Without hesitation, Leia replied, "Then take him back to 'home'." My blood relatives with that guy are long gone, but there are still a lot of people who are thinking about him. β
Yuffie exhaled softly, smiling softly - a little strange with her current appearance.
"Then I'm relieved." She whispered, "Sure enough, Wei Feng is not a bad person, just like you." β
"I don't like to hear that." Leia's eyes widened, "Who is the same kind of person as that guy!" β
Instead of answering Leia's question, the girl got up and walked to the bar, handed the money to the shopkeeper, and waved at the young ranger who was still sitting at the table.
Somehow, an empty face suddenly flashed in front of her eyes, and a hint of sadness in his words when he asked a few people to investigate "Pale Hands".
"Time can change a lot, but there are some things that won't change." She whispered to herself, "It's worth doing...... Maybe I'm starting to get it. ".com reading, a better reading experience.
