Zhang's compound

I also grew up living in a big yard.

The hometown is located in the northwest of Zhoushan Island, a small hill facing the sea and surrounded by mountains on three sides.

That big courtyard is located halfway up the mountainside, and the villagers call it Zhangjia Dadaotian.

In the middle of the mountain is a large camphor tree that is hundreds of years old, which is said to have been planted by our ancestors when they settled here.

At that time, several plants were planted to shield them from the north wind blowing from the mouth in winter.

When the trees grow tall and dense, cut down a few of them.

For some reason, every time a plant is cut down, a group of boys die, and my mother's two older brothers died when they were in their teens.

Some people say that it is the dragon vein.

So the rest of the plant has grown until now, and the trunk needs 4 adults to hug it.

Directly above the big camphor tree is the large courtyard.

There are 1O steps connected by a few steps, and there is a corner to the right in the middle.

The ancestor should have been the first person to settle in this mountain, and chose the flattest piece of land, the most middle position.

The courtyard is large and can accommodate more than 10 tables of banquets.

In addition, to the south and west, there are courtyards and miscellaneous rooms through the steps that go up.

Each house is connected to each other, and the one at the corner is called "Shetou", which is overhead with a wooden structure, which requires a lot of wood, and it is said that it does not require a single iron nail.

There is a staircase half a meter above the ground in front of the eaves in front of the door, and it is paved with smooth stones, so it will not rain when it rains.

Of course, the wind and rain still have to be wet.

On the wall base (below the window) along the staircase corridor is written in red letters: . . . Banzai!

There are 4 families living in the courtyard, all of whom are descendants of the Zhang family.

But when we were young, because there were two rooms for single women, and there were also rooms for men who died early and remarried, the men entered the house and became 4 rooms and 4 surnames.

However, they all agree that they are members of the Zhang clan and share the ancestral hall in the middle of the west and east.

There are 21 children of all ages in the courtyard, all of whom were born in the 5-60s.

At that time, there was no family planning, and basically you could give birth to as much as you could.

There are two brothers in my house who are one year apart, which means that they have never been weaned in between.

Like me, there were 2 boys, 2 women, and 4 people born in 64.

There are 7 to 8 people who are 2 years older or 2 years younger than us.

My playmates and I usually play around with the yard by drawing a few lines on the ground and making the heads of our little shoes into small "mouths".

I'm often the organizer of the game, and I'm also the loudest one, and I'm often greeted with all kinds of scolding.

The most lively is in the summer evenings, when each family sets the table in the courtyard to eat, and the women will go around the table with their rice bowls, and if they want to eat, they will come to take a bite.

When the family gets fresh goods from the seaside, they will take the initiative to bring a bowl, and each family has a share.

Eat a good meal and take a few shops to chat in the cold, and sometimes sleep outside.

Ah Chang and my dad at the door will play the erhu, and everyone can't tell the good or the bad, the evening breeze will pass in the night light, and there will always be a sound of erhu in the yard.

The sky was very blue, and the stars were very bright on a fine day.

"Starry sky!" It was a real memory from my childhood.

So since I can remember, I have known the Cowherd Star, the Vega Star, the Big Dipper, the Broom Star, the Daystar...

Our children especially like to sit on the stone steps between the yard and the camphor trees, and eat the sea lion snails picked up by the sea while taking advantage of the cool breeze, which is our snack.

That kind of small snail with a very hard shell is also called an iron lion snail.

At that time, you had to eat and pick up enough, but now it is said that it is poisonous, and it is very rare, and you have to buy it through an excellent relationship, about 150 yuan a catty.

Since then, all the families have been building buildings on the edge of the first-class highway by the sea, and the yard is no longer there.

10 years ago, I renovated the three old houses that my parents gave me, and I didn't live there, because there were buildings built elsewhere and they were vacant, just to keep some of my childhood yards!
