Chapter 693: Confucius's Departure from the Guard (1)
After Confucius left the state of Lu, he spent three years of leisurely time in the kingdom of Wei. Wei Linggong respected him very much, and the doctors did not dare to be rude to him, and the villains did not dare to provoke him.
Confucius also made a gentleman in the country - Lu Yu (the word Boyu). He was born in the fifth year of Lu Chenggong (BC585) and was ninety years old when Confucius entered the guard. He assisted Wei Xiangong, Wei Xianggong and Wei Linggong IV, and was a veritable "elder of the Four Dynasties". The most famous incident that happened to Lu Boyu was his two escapes to avoid disaster.
The first time was in the fourteenth year of Lu Xianggong (BC559). Sun Linfu, the secretary of the Wei State, led the army from Qiyi to prepare to expel Wei Xiangong. Sun Lin's father suddenly met Lan Boyu on the outskirts of Diqiu, and he bluntly told him his plan of action; Lu Boyu didn't say a word, and fled directly from the nearest pass to defend the country. After Wei Xiangong went into exile, Lu Boyu did not follow him, but swaggered back to Diqiu and continued to assist Wei Xiangong.
The second time was in the twenty-sixth year of Lu Xianggong (BC547). Ning Xi decided to help Wei Xiangong restore, and he told Yu Boyu about the plan. Lu Boyu said: "I dare not hear the news of the exile of the prince, and of course I dare not hear the news of the restoration of the prince. With that, he quickly fled from the country. After the successful restoration of Wei Xiangong, he came back again with a high-sounding sound.
These two incidents had a certain impact on Yu Boyu's reputation: loyal people ridiculed him for having no position; Brave people ridiculed him for not having guts.
But Lan Boyu fought back: "I didn't help the Sun clan expel the prince, and I didn't help the Ning clan kill the martyr, how can I say that I have no position?" Besides, is it brave to die in chaos? If so, you living people are not in a position to accuse me (those who are worthy are dead). β
This old gentleman is a humble gentleman with noble conduct and great love. He was sympathetic to the people's livelihood, opposed disturbing the people, and was the first person in Chinese history to advocate the "rule of inaction". Lu Boyu has a friend of life and death named "Shi Yan (Zi Ziyu)", and the Shi Yan family has served as a historian of the country for generations. In that turbulent era of depraved monarchs and tyrannical ministers, historians were undoubtedly one of the most dangerous professions.
The people in power did a lot of despicable and shameless things under the guise of people's livelihood and society, and those bitches did not want their ugly deeds to be recorded in the history books, so they did work on the historians and "invited" them to set up a memorial arch for themselves.
A good historian must be completely faithful to the facts, and cannot whitewash the sins of the villains or sing the praises of power; In this way, the danger of death will come to the historian at any time.
There are five famous historians in the history of the Spring and Autumn Period: the first is Dong Hu of the Jin Kingdom, who once wrote bluntly: "Zhao Dun killed the Linggong of Jin." The second to four were the historians of the Qi State, and the three historians at that time regarded death as if they were at home, and wrote one after another: "Cui Zhu killed the Duke of Qi Zhuang." "The fifth is this Doctor Shi.
Shi Yan is a jealous and hateful, straightforward character, and does not rub sand in his eyes, and his temperament forms a huge contrast with Lu Boyu. He always criticized all kinds of ugly phenomena mercilessly, and the corrupt and degenerate magnates were often criticized by him for being incomplete, even Wei Linggong was not spared.
Once, Wei Linggong was severely criticized by him for grabbing his pigtails, and Wei Linggong had to plead in a low voice after admitting his mistake: "The master is a historian, as long as he records the words and deeds of the widow, it is not the job of the historian to accuse the widow of his faults." β
When Shi Yan heard this, the anger that had just calmed down rose again, and he said, "The prince is wrong with this! The doctor is loyal to the office of the community, and the world is the same. As a patriotic doctor, of course, I have to do my duty. Furthermore, I advise the prince in the hope that he can leave a good name for future generations, otherwise why cause trouble for myself? β
Later, Wei Linggong disagreed with Lu Boyu's political opinions, and listened to the slanderous rumors of his favorite minister Mi Zibian, and even relieved Lu Boyu of his position. Shi Yan stepped forward and strongly demanded that the official be reinstated and exiled. But Wei Linggong was really angry with Lu Boyu that time, and he couldn't afford to provoke Shi Yan, so he simply hid and disappeared.
Shi Yan was in a hurry and soon fell ill. He was very old, and he knew that the end was coming, so he summoned his son Shi Huan and said: "After I die, you should not park my body in the main hall, but under the window of the side room." When the prince asked, you told him, 'If the prince does not resume his position as a doctor, his father's coffin will not enter the main hall.' ββ
After Shi Yan's death, Wei Linggong came to mourn, and he found that Ziyu's body was parked in a different place, so he really blamed Shi Huan. Shi Huan said his father's last words. Wei Linggong let out a loud cry of grief after hearing this, fulfilled Ziyu's last wish on the spot, and personally helped Shi Huan move his body to the main hall. This is the famous "corpse admonition" in the history of the Spring and Autumn Period.
When Wu Gongzi Ji Za visited Weiguo, he said: "There are many gentlemen who defend the country. Although the princes are relatively poor, but with the presence of gentlemen, the country will not be in trouble. Later, Confucius commented on the two gentlemen and said: "Shi Yu is really upright!" The state has a way, and words are like arrows; There is no way in the country, and words are like arrows. Lu Boyu is a gentleman, and he will be a man in the state; If there is no way, the state hides its own skills. β
During his tenure as the Grand Counsellor of the Lu State, Confucius sent Zigong to express his admiration to Lu Boyu, who also expressed his respect. Although the two have never met, they have been friends for a long time. After Confucius came to defend the country, the two gentlemen met for the first time.
At that time, Lu Boyu had already returned to his hometown due to his advanced age, and Confucius went to his house to discuss political affairs with him. Confucius encountered many troubles during his defense of the country, and every time he had to go to the mansion of the Yu clan to seek relief.
Confucius was an anti-war and staunch pacifist, and although his "Six Arts of Gentlemen" course included chariot control and archery, he was reluctant to talk about war on any occasion. So the world commented on Confucius and said, "Master does not talk about 'chaos, power, strangeness, and spirit'. β
During Confucius's tenure as the doctor of the Lu State, since Sanhuan was not a belligerent, Confucius got along with them more comfortably. But after arriving at the patriotic state, Confucius felt quite uncomfortable. We know that Wei Linggong is the vanguard of the anti-Jin rush, and he did not hesitate to pull the pro-Jin doctor to his side at the cost of his own political future and old life. is such a restless monarch who thinks about how to fight against the Jin State every day. It is not an exaggeration to call Wei Linggong a "warmonger".
As soon as Confucius was in the defense of the country, Wei Linggong became tired of the clichΓ©s he preached about "benevolence, righteousness, courtesy, wisdom, and faith." He had always wanted to extract some ideas about warfare from Confucius's wise head.
One day in the spring of the second year of Lu Aigong, Wei Linggong suddenly asked while chatting with Confucius: "If the enemy army attacks with a goose formation, under what circumstances will the widow defend with a crane formation, and under what circumstances will he defend with a goose formation?" β
The gentle look on Confucius's face disappeared and was replaced by a dense cloud. He replied coldly: "The minister does not know military affairs. β
Disappointed and annoyed, Wei Linggong asked two more innocuous questions and hastily ended the conversation.
This small incident planted the seeds of discord between the monarch and the minister. When the incident spread, a villain came out and spared no effort to provoke Wei Linggong's ill feelings towards Confucius; This villain is none other than Zilu's brother-in-law, Miko.
