Chapter 1339: A Journey at Sea

"Immortal Demon Spring~!"

Bimoyer frowned.

"Legend has it that there is a spring of infinite magic on Shijie, and whoever drinks it will attain eternal youth," said Ians. But this spring water has always been hidden deep in the deepest part of the Warcraft Forest, and no one has ever been to that place, so no one has the privilege of drinking this magical liliang spring water. And my purpose in coming to the Warcraft Forest is to find it and prove that it really exists. ”

Everyone looked at Ines and was silent.

Ines wondered, "What's the matter, don't you believe it?"

Luo asked, "Do you really believe that this spring really exists?"

"Of course, I believe it must exist. Ines affirmed.

Wayne touched the slight whiskers under his nose and said, "This seems to be a story in a novel, obviously made up by someone else." Hey, Irina, what did you say before, who can't tell the difference between reality and fantasy?"

Irina Khan said: "I have heard many stories about the Fountain of Youth, and they have always circulated in people's mouths, but I don't believe this story is true. And you yourself said that no one has ever seen it, and no one has ever drunk it, and this false legend is really not credible. ”

Ines said seriously: "That's not necessarily, there are stories and legends, which means that it is not a shadowless thing, otherwise how can it be passed down by word of mouth for so long?"

Irina said: "That's because everyone yearns for the young, the young hope will stay young forever, and the old hope will return to the old age." This is just an unrealistic vision in the bottom of my heart, not a true story. ”

Ines shook his hand in disagreement, "I believe it's true anyway." And I'm going to have to find it. ”

Irina saw that he was obsessed and helpless, so she had to say to the side: "Bimoye, Susan, do you think this is ridiculous?"

Bimoyer didn't speak, but Susan was a little hesitant and said, "I don't know, maybe ...... Probably there is. ”

Irina was surprised: "You actually believe it! Luo, what do you say?"

Luo shook his head: "I don't know either." It stands to reason that this story is indeed absurd, but who knows what happened to Shijie? ”

Irina was speechless and shrugged her shoulders: "Okay, just when I didn't ask anything." ”

Back to camp. Everyone laughed when they heard that Ines was looking for the Fountain of Youth.

"Haha. That's funny, isn't it? Amarson said to Irons, "Friend, you are also an adult, how can you believe such a ridiculous thing." ”

Wrapping his head and face in a white scarf, the illusionist immediately retorted: "Although this thing sounds ridiculous, it's not impossible." I've read quite a few books. Some ancient books do contain records of the Fountain of Immortality. ”

Another said: "If there is a record, it is not necessarily true. The ancients liked to joke the most. None of the things in the history books are necessarily true. Not to mention this kind of story. ”

"Not necessarily. It is said that in ancient times, there were thirty-seven magic classifications on Shijie, but how many are left until now? Perhaps the vision of the ancient people is indeed much broader than ours, and they may not have seen it. ”

Suddenly. Everyone argued about this matter, some believed it and some didn't, in short, it added a lot of talking points to this trip to the Warcraft Forest, and the climate between them was no longer so tense and dull.

......

At this time, on the distant sea, a huge ship sailed on the calm sea, and the Ice Monk Zechar and Ryan were propped up on the side of the ship, watching the gentle waves below and the dolphins jumping from the side of the ship from time to time.

"Whew...... It's finally here. Ryan breathed a sigh of relief and said, "I thought we wouldn't be able to make it over and die in the sea together." If it hadn't been for the first mate telling me not to worry, my heart would have jumped out of my throat. ”

"yes. Zaga still remembered the events of the previous month, and he still had lingering fears that if it weren't for the confidence of the captain and the crew, he would have feared that this trip would have been fatal.

Ryan said, "After such a long sea trip, we should have arrived at our destination. It's been a thrilling experience at sea, but I've been at sea for a few months, and I really want to get back to that down-to-earth feeling that my heart will always hang when I'm on a boat. He stepped on the plank under his feet uneasily, and if he didn't have anything to do with such a huge ship that day, it would completely disperse.

"The captain said that after that dangerous sea we will not be far from the island of Genesis, and we will dock in a few days. ”

At this time, the same person who boarded the ship with them also appeared on the deck, in fact, at this time, Zega and Ryan already knew the identity of this person, and they couldn't help but feel a little anxious about the future.

Ryan lowered his voice, as if he was afraid that the wind would blow into the ears of the man over there, "Hey Zagar, why do you say that these people from Genesis Island have brought the famous generals of Santa Vickya here? ”

"Needless to say, such a big ship, so many people, such a master......" Zaga also lowered his voice: "We can't leave this ship anymore, so we can only follow them." ”

Ryan said, "Do you still want to go? Where else can we go? It may not be a good thing to stay here, if they really have any ambitions, we may be able to achieve something, and of course we will have to slaughter that beast of Ignadis." ”

Zechar sighed, "O Kia Fried, Imperial Marshal of St. Vicia. Even if these people from Genesis Island don't tell us, I can guess what they're trying to do. ”

In the cabin, the outlet came out in the warm sea breeze: "Hey, are you all right?"

Ryan and Zega both looked back at the outlet that was walking slowly, but Fried was still looking at the sea alone and ignored anyone, but his expression at the moment was not as decadent as before, and it seemed much more exciting.

The outlet had long been accustomed to Fried's ignorance, and he didn't care, so he walked up to Ryan and Zega and said with a smile: "Seeing such a calm sea, now your hearts have finally settled down." ”

Ryan quipped, "I'm scared to death." If the ship sinks, you'll have to save me. ”

The outlet smiled: "Let me tell you a secret, in the past month, you have experienced a great sea area, and under that sea floor is buried a great ancient city, the City of the Sea. ”

"City of the Sea!" Ryan and Zaga were shocked, "You said there's a city down there in that dangerous sea?"

"yes. "That city was a metropolis on par with the Wind Capital in ancient times, and it buried a great history and immortal civilization. ”

"But we've never heard of it. Ryan said.

"Just because you haven't heard of it doesn't mean you haven't, it just means that you don't have enough knowledge. ”

"How do you know there's a city under that sea, have you gone down to see it?"

The outlet said: "Of course I haven't seen it, no one can go down to that dangerous sea. But I have my own way, and if you don't believe me, I can't do it. ”

"Hmph~!" Ryan was a little unconvinced, but he still believed it. He didn't know the people here, though. But he knew that these people on Genesis Island were not casual babble.

This time. An equally large ship appeared in front of him, and Zega, Ryan, and Fried's attention was immediately drawn to it.

"Wow, there's more than one such ship. Ryan was so surprised that he couldn't keep his mouth shut, but waited for the ship to get closer. He was even more stunned by the people standing on the boat.

I saw the boat opposite. A bald man more than three meters tall stood at the bow of the boat. He was half-naked, with rough skin of a strange color, but what was even more surprising was that the man had three pairs of arms.

"This ...... This ......" Ryan was speechless with surprise. Even Fried's eyes widened.

The outlet said, "Let me introduce you in advance, that big man is named the six-armed demon god Kalir, and he is the defender of Genesis Island. In a moment we will get on his ship and go with him to the island of Genesis. ”

(I can't really write anymore, water.) οΌ‰

Dowsing is a divination method used to find groundwater, metals, ores, gemstones, oil, or leylines,[1] as well as various other items or substances, such as Leylines, recently known as terrestrial radiation, without the use of scientific methods. This method is known as "doodlebugging" in the United States. When this method is used to find water veins, it is often referred to as water seeking, or water witch. [2]

Detection techniques are usually used with a Y- or L-shaped club, known as a dowsingrod or diviningrod, although some water seekers use other equipment or none at all.

This method of divination arose in Renaissance Germany and continued to gain popularity among believers in Forteana or radiesthesia[3]. But there is currently no accepted scientific explanation for it, and there is no scientific evidence that it works.

The current technique of water search probably began in Germany in the 15th century, when it was used to detect metals. As early as 1518, Martin Luther listed this search for metal as a "violation of the First Commandment" (i.e., mysticism) [4]. In the 1550 edition of the German cartographer Sebastian Munster's Cosmographia, engravings depict people walking with forks during mining operations. The fork rod is labeled "Virgula Divina–GlΓΌckrΓΌt" (Latin for "sacred rod"), although the engraving itself is not marked with text. In 1556, the German miner Georgius Agricola, in his Dere Metallica, which described how to deal with ore mining and smelting, described in detail how to use probes to detect metallic minerals. [5]

Samuel Sheppard's 1651 book Epigramstheological, philosophical, andromantick contains a satirical short poem that reads:

Virguladivina.

SomeSorcerersdoboasttheyhaveaRod, (some warlocks boast of their rods)

GatherdwithVowesandSacrifice,

And (borneabout) willstrangelynod (will take on singular nods)

TohiddenTreasurewhereitlies; (to the treasure spot)

Mankindis(sure)thatRoddivine, (people consider the rod sacred)

FortotheWealthiest(ever)theyincline.

In 1662 the technique was declared "superstition, or Satanic" by the Jesuit Gaspar Schott, although he later stated it. It is not certain whether the devil is responsible for the movement of all the sticks.

During the Vietnam War in the late 1960s, some U.S. Marines attempted to locate weapons and secret passages using water-seeking. [6] The Divining Hand, written by Christopher Bird in 1979, is a rich book on the history of water hunting. James Randi's 1982 book contains nineteen pages of double-blind tests conducted in Italy, showing that water search is no better than random selection.

Traditionally, the most common probe rod is a forked (Y-shaped) branch taken from a tree or shrub. Some water seekers prefer the tree material they use, while others prefer to use freshly cut branches. Europeans usually use hazel branches, while Americans use witch hazel (witch hazel), willow and peach branches. When using it, grasp the two ends of the fork of the Y-shaped branch with both hands, and point the third end (the main trunk of the Y-branch) straight ahead. This holding method is usually grasped by the palm of the hand. The Water Seeker then walks slowly where he suspects there may be targets (e.g., minerals, water, etc.). When found, the Finder will theoretically drop, sink, or tremble. This divination is sometimes referred to as WillowWitching.

Nowadays, many water seekers use a pair of L-shaped metal rods with a simple shape. Grasp an L-shaped metal rod in each hand, with the short end vertical. The long end is facing forward. When something is found. Metal rods will cross each other, forming an "X" above what they are looking for, and if they find something long and straight, such as a water pipe, the rod will turn in the opposite direction. Indicate the location of the item. The probe rod is sometimes bent with a hanger. Glass or plastic rods are also acceptable. Straight rods are sometimes used for the same purpose. In England in the early nineteenth century, this practice was not uncommon.

In all cases, the objects used for detection are in an unstable equilibrium. As a result, subtle reactions are amplified. [7]

Revelatoryrods[edit]

In addition to Dowsing, the Dowsing is also used as an item for revelation. The rod is held in the air and the holder asks a question, "yes" if the rod moves, and "no" if the rod does not move. Its origin is believed to be from gods or magical spirits. The rod of this divination is sometimes called the Mosaicrod, or Aaron's Staff. Its name comes from the Old Testament prophet Moses and his brother Aaron, who both used this pole (possibly straight).

Pendulums made of crystal, metal, or other materials suspended from chains are sometimes used for divination or water searching. One way to use it is for the user to decide which direction (left, right, up, down) to decide "yes" or "no" before asking a specific question about the pendulum, or for another person to ask a question to the pendulum bearer. Pendulums can also be hung on cloth or mats with "yes" or "no" written on them, and perhaps other words written in a circle. The pendulum bearer should try to hold it as steady, aiming at the center, and then the movement of the pendulum will point out the answer to the question. In the operation of radiesthesia, pendulums are used in medical diagnosis.

Possible explanations[edit]

Early attempts to scientifically explain the concept of the pendulum were based on the fact that the divination rod was physically affected by the "radiation" emitted by the substance it was trying to find. The following explanation is taken from William Price's 1778 Mineralogia Cornubiensis:

The particulate ...... From the mineral rises, into the stick, making it bow so that it is parallel to the vertical line where their stink rises. The effect of mineral particles appears to be emitted from Earth. The probe rod is a light, porous piece of wood that gives these very fine particles a simple passage, and the odor then drives the seekers, while being pressed by the atmosphere above them, into the small gaps between the wood fibers. By this effort, they force it to tilt, vertically or tilt down, parallel to the small bars formed by the rise of their vapors.

None of these explanations have a modern scientific basis.

A 1986 article in the journal Nature included water-seeking in the list of "phenomena that until recently claimed to be supernatural, but can now be explained by orthodox science." [8] Specifically, water-seeking can be explained by sensory suggestion, expectation effect, and probability.

Skeptics and some proponents argue that the pendulum itself is not liliang, but merely magnifies a phenomenon caused by slight movements in the hand, known as the ideomotor effect: people's subconscious may affect their bodies, unconsciously deciding to act on their own. This will make the probe rod a conduit for the soothsayer's subconscious knowledge or perceptions. [9] [10]

Soviet geologists proposed that the ability of water seekers [11] is inexplicable for tiny normal sensations. Some authors suggest that these abilities may be explained by the assumption that humans are sensitive to changes in small magnetic field gradients. [

A 1948 study tested the ability of 58 water seekers to find water. None of them are more reliable than random. [15] A 1979 review of a number of controlled studies on water probing found that none of them performed more than randomly. [16]

In 1987-1988, a study was conducted in Munich by Hans Dieter Bates and other scientists. 500 water seekers were tested to test their "skills". Then the experimenter selected the most haode 43 of them for further testing. The water is piped on the first floor of a two-story barn. Before each test, the pipes are moved, moving in a direction perpendicular to the water flow. On the second floor, each water seeker was asked to decide where the pipes were located. Over two years, the seekers conducted 843 tests. Of the 43 candidates screened and extensively tested, at least 37 had no ability to find water. The results of the remaining 6 digits were better than random. The experimenters concluded that some water seekers "exhibit very high success rates in specific tasks, which are almost entirely inexplicable by chance...... The basis of a true water-seeker phenomenon can be seen as empirically proven. ”[17]

Five years after the Munich study was published, a physiology professor and strong skeptic, Jim T. Enright, emphasized proper data analysis procedures. The objection was that the results of this study were merely consistent with statistical fluctuations and were not significant. He believes that the experiment provides "the most convincing conceivable proof of the water seeker's claimed abilities"[18], noting that the data analysis is "exceptional, unconventional, and tailor-made". If it were replaced by a "more usual analysis",[19] he found that the most water-seekers were on average closer to four centimeters in ten meters, 0.0004% better than the midline guess. The study's authors responded: "On what basis could Enright have come to a completely different conclusion? [20] The results of the study in Munich also corroborated the paper of the German psychologist Dr. Ertel [21]. He has previously intervened in statistical controversies about the "Marseffect". But Enright was still unconvinced. [22] (To be continued......)
