Chapter 09: The first three sentences
The Analects is a hodgepodge of smashed, smashed, and collected from the most valuable pieces.
Therefore, in fact, this is not an easy book that can be integrated, after all, all you see are fragments, and you don't know the context before and after, so you can't see what each fragment looks like before it is crumbled.
However, the Confucian scholars who edited the Analects did not make up the Analects indiscriminately, nor did they just collect a bunch of treasures casually and count them as completely finished.
The editors of the 20 articles of the Analects also have a certain idea, and each article barely has a theme, not absolutely a theme, but just a reluctant one.
The title of the first article is Xueer, but Xueer is not the only real theme of this first article.
Or it can be said that since all the contents that make up the first part of the article are all famous sayings and fragments of treasures, not all the things that each famous quote says are for the purpose of explaining what it is to learn.
The sage said: "When you learn and learn it, don't you also say that there are friends who come from afar, and you are happy? People don't know and are not ashamed, and they are not gentlemen?"
If there really is a theme in this sentence, then it is obviously what is called happiness, not a useless learning method.
How can you not be happy if you often learn some skills to make yourself better; how can you not be happy when good friends come from afar, and everyone drinks tea and chats, plays and frolics together; others do not understand your own person, so they look down on themselves, and even bully themselves for no reason, but they don't care, and they don't get angry at all, they are still stupid and silly every day, like this kind of heartless stupid, isn't it a gentleman?
Therefore, as long as 1+1=2 is known, why do you have to review it every day, after you have integrated an article, why do you need to read it again and again, or even have to memorize it?
Learning is not only limited to books, but constantly and repeatedly studying a knowledge, the most fundamental purpose is just to learn, if you can't learn how to learn, there should be few people who will feel happy, right?
After the happiness was finished, he continued to say a sentence, the original text is a bit long, so I skipped the second sentence and didn't say it, but it should be noted that the second sentence has nothing to do with the topic.
In the third sentence, the sage said: "Clever words, fresh and benevolent!"
This sentence is very short, and the meaning is extremely obvious, and it has nothing to do with the topic at all, which is equivalent to talking about something else.
So, why did the editor put this sentence in the first article, is it just a random addition and a word count?
Of course, this cannot be the case, and the reason why this sentence has to be added is because this sentence is very important.
What is clever words, and why must clever words be unkind?
In other words, since clever words are unkind, as long as you find the opposite side of clever words, can you say that you are very benevolent?
Therefore, in this phrase of only seven words, there is a very precious thing - benevolence, which must be placed in the first article...... , the third sentence!
Very good at speaking, almost a speaker, and his face is always kind, at first glance he is like a good person, this kind of person, the sage said...... , not benevolent at all.
Therefore, this is clearly a wrong view, and it is completely wrong.
How can it be said that a kind speaker must not bear it, this is too one-sided, too arbitrary, right?
There are thousands of people in the world, and there are even more speakers than they can count, and there are definitely countless people with good appearances.
Therefore, looking at this sentence alone, just looking at a small fragment, it is obvious that the saint is wrong.
So, if this is not true, why should it be placed in the third sentence?
The sage said that a kind speaker is not benevolent, but on the contrary, a person with a vicious face and few words must be benevolent?
No, in fact, the answer is very simple, the reason why I have to put this sentence in the third sentence is because this sentence implies a standard of the saint for the benevolent.
In the same way, a kind speaker may not be a real benevolent person, so to evaluate whether a person is benevolent, we must not only look at whether he can say it or not, but only whether his appearance is kind.
To be a real benevolent person, it can be said that it is very easy, it can also be said that it is very difficult, and it is absolutely impossible to pretend, a true gentleman is a true gentleman, even if a hypocrite is to pretend to be a lifelong life, and he has been doing good things all his life, he himself will know better than anyone else, he ...... , not a benevolent gentleman.
This is not something that can be pretended, even if it can deceive the world, it is impossible...... , even deceived himself!
Probably, that's why this sentence must be put in the third sentence of the whole book.
Whether this is the case or not, there is no answer, after all, those editors are people from 2,000 years ago, and only ghosts can find them and ask them an answer.
However, it is very certain that this sentence has absolutely nothing to do with the title of the first article, anyway, I really can't see how this sentence has anything to do with learning.
The next thirteen sentences are the same, it's all about everything, it's like a non-stop show quote, it's dazzling, it's just that you can't find it, hidden under all the words, and wear them all...... , that line!
As long as it is not a random accumulation of words, then, no matter how badly a book is written, and how badly an article is written, the invisible thread called the idea must exist.
The difference is that good articles and good books, this line is very easy to find, most of them are clear and clear at a glance, while bad articles and bad books, the author's own thoughts are a mess, basically thinking of what to write, is it very familiar with this feeling, yes, the books that I have often read recently, and even at this moment, the articles I am reading belong to this kind of random writing.
However, good articles and good books are not all clear ideas, such as the "Analects" is this kind of book, and bad articles and bad books, books and articles that the author thinks of and writes, but it is not that they have no ideas, and they can't find it no matter how you look at it.
Therefore, if you want to integrate an article, you have to find the invisible silk thread and figure out the author's thoughts.
And the hodgepodge of the Analects is such a book of extremely secret hidden ideas, as if there is no one at all, very difficult to find, but it is definitely worth constantly working hard, constantly thinking, and constantly searching, so that you can greatly improve your level of searching.
