Volume 5 The Central South Storm Chapter 41 Recovery

Vientiane has once again become the focus of the world's attention......

In the early morning of the same day, the vanguard of the 2711 Panzer Brigade marched into the city and engaged in a fierce battle with the rebels.

The international radio and television station followed the whole process and reported the whole process, and the war correspondents followed the combat troops into the urban area to report on the fierce fighting on the spot.

Although Vientiane is only a medium-sized city with a population of less than 500,000, with buildings under 5 floors and wide streets, which is more advantageous to the attackers, the rebels entrenched in the city still pose a great threat to the republican ** team who fought in the city street battles for the first time.

Fortunately, with the experience of the US military in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Republican ** team summed up a lot of street fighting tactics.

The armored 2711 brigade was sent south to Vientiane because the armored troops were more suitable for street fighting than the rapid assault troops. After occupying the road from Vientiane to the Shanglao area (Laos was formerly known as Laos, which was divided into Shanglao, Zhonglao and Xialao from north to south), the Panzer 2711 Brigade began to clear the rebel strongholds around the city.

The bitter lessons of the Russian army in the 2 Chechen wars proved that the armored forces that entered the city alone were very vulnerable.

As the main assault force, when attacking cities, armored units can only effectively bring into play the combat effectiveness of armored units when they are coordinated and supported by infantry, artillery, aviation, and other arms of the armed forces.

Before dawn, the 2711 Panzer Brigade had been preparing for the battle outside the city, deploying artillery positions, splitting tank battalions and mechanized infantry battalions into mixed assault units, coordinating air strike forces, and dispatching small unmanned reconnaissance aircraft to monitor and lock down rebel strongholds in the city.

At about 6 o'clock in the morning, the armored 2711 brigade was ready for the assault, and the support units of the 1611 brigade arrived.

The battle began around 6:15. The mixed assault force of the 2711 Armored Brigade first advanced in the direction of the old presidential residence and the Prime Minister's Office. Brigade artillery and aviation provided fire cover. The ground low-altitude assault unit and the low-altitude assault unit of the 1611 Air Assault Brigade accompanied the mixed assault force and were responsible for seizing commanding heights along the way.

It looks very methodical and tactical. But as soon as he got on the field, he ran into trouble.

Less than 7 o'clock. The Panzer 2711 Brigade stopped the offensive.

Fight for tens of minutes. Hundreds of civilian casualties were caused. The recalcitrant rebels used their houses as their strongholds. Use civilians as shields. All "regular tactics" will result in innocent civilian casualties. The armored 2711 brigade fought a counterinsurgency war. It's not a tough battle. Large-scale shelling, focused bombardment, are no longer available. Even tank guns had to be used sparingly. In this case. The counterinsurgency war turned into a "tough battle".

After adjusting tactics. The 2711 Panzer Brigade continued its offensive with the support of the 1611 Air Assault Brigade.

The battle was fiercely fought. It's also very tragic.

The complex terrain of the urban area has narrowed the gap between the two sides in terms of technology, weapons, and firepower. In the face of the impossible defeat of ground armored troops in field battles, the rebels, armed only with rifles, machine guns, rocket launchers, and a small number of recoilless guns and mortars, posed a threat not only to the ground assault forces, but also to the low-altitude assault forces.

At around 0:00, the 1611 Brigade of the Air Assault occupied the residence of the President of the People's Republic of China, and the 2711 Brigade of the Armored Assault occupied the Prime Minister's Office.

So far, the 1611 Brigade has lost 1 helicopter and more than 30 ~ officers and soldiers, and the 2711 Armored Brigade has lost 2 tanks and 2 infantry fighting vehicles, and more than 30 officers and soldiers have been killed or wounded.

The battle took a turn at this point.

At 1c:25, Radio and Television International reported that the leaders of the Lao puppet regime, Tamaphon and Novan Sai, had fled by helicopter. About 20 minutes later, Radio and Television International announced that Tamaphon and Novan Sai had crashed in a ground helicopter on their way to Thailand, near Bannasson, east of Vientiane.

As soon as the news was released, it immediately attracted great attention.

The rebels in Vientiane were the first to be "attacked," and when the "bandit leaders" fled, the rebel officers and soldiers who had sworn to fight to the death suddenly became a rabble.

In the face of tens of thousands of rebels, many officers and soldiers of the 2711 Armored Brigade and the 1611 Air Assault Brigade in the interior of the city immediately panicked.

Xiang Linghui, who was in command in the rear, immediately asked Peng Maobang for instructions, asking for a reduction in the punishment of ordinary officers and soldiers of the rebels, and only severely punishing the high-ranking officers in the areas where the rebellion was launched. Peng Maobang did not dare to make a decision on his own, and only after consulting Zhao Rundong did he give Xiang Linghui an order to let the rebels return to the barracks and wait for reorganization.

The battle evolved into a "heart-to-heart battle".

Two attacking units were stationed at the Prime Minister's Office and the President's Residence, and the 161st Brigade of the Air Assault Brigade dispatched helicopters to shout loudspeakers to the rebels in the city.

At noon, Hindavong was accompanied by State Councilor Xu Zhengdongdi of the Republic to the outskirts of Vientiane.

After Hindavong announced the absolution of all "hoodwinked officers and soldiers", the situation was brought under control, and the rebels entrenched in the interior of the city returned to their barracks on the southern outskirts of Vientiane.

At this time, the news of the death of Tamapon and Novan was confirmed.

After taking off from Vientiane, the S-70 helicopter in 2 headed eastward, preparing to go to the Lao Audi settlement in northeastern Thailand (Tamaphon and Novan Sai are Lao Audi, and Hindaong is Lao Long), and when it reached the vicinity of Bannersund, the tail rotor of the helicopter fell off and crashed about 5 kilometers southwest of Bannersund. All 11 people on board the helicopter, including Tamaphon and Novancy, were killed.

Whether the helicopter crashed or was shot down has not been proven

Some people believe that with the military strength of the Republic, Tamavon and Novan Sai must have fled, and there are troops of the 1611th Air Assault Brigade nearby, even if the fighters of the Air Force are not dispatched (the route of the S7C is close to the Lao-Thai border, and the fighters are likely to enter the territory of Thailand), the 2 armed helicopters can shoot down the S--70. In order to avoid unnecessary trouble after Hindaeon came to power, the Republic had enough reasons to get rid of Tamaphon and Novansai.

Others believe that there is no reason for the Republic to eliminate Tamaphon and Novanse. The two of them have a high prestige among the old hearing people, who make up about 25% of the old population, and if the Republic gets rid of Tamaphon and Novan Sai, the power of Hindaon will be tested by the old hearing people. Letting Tamaphon and Novan Sai go into exile in Thailand and get rid of them with the help of Thailand is the best choice for the Republic. At that time, the low-altitude strike units of the 161st Brigade were operating in Vientiane and did not have the ability to intercept S-70 helicopters.

Anyway, Tamarvon and Novan are dead.

In the afternoon of the same day, Shindawong returned to the Lao Prime Minister's Office, announced the formation of an interim government within five days, and the National Assembly elections within one month, and invited the Republican ** team to maintain security and social order in Laos.

In the evening, Xindaon went to the garrison of the 2711 Armored Brigade to comfort the officers and soldiers and pay a moment of silence for the fallen soldiers.

At this point, the "Laotian War" came to an end.

From the night of the 22nd to the end of the afternoon of the 27th, a total of more than 130 hours, the republican ** team not only annihilated two units of the invading Vietnamese army and captured more than 1 Vietnamese officer and soldier, but also recovered Vientiane and helped Hindawong return to power.

During this period, the officers and soldiers of the 1763 republic remained forever in a foreign land.

Later, Lao built the "Friendly Martyrs Cemetery" in Vientiane, Sichuan, Nonghei and Wesha~ respectively. The legislation stipulates that March 22 is the National Disaster Day, March 27 is the Liberation Day, the national flag is lowered at half-mast on the National Disaster Day, and the state and government leaders go to pay respects to the martyrs' cemeteries on the Liberation Day. On March 27 every year, Laos has set up a "Condolence Service for the Families of Martyrs of Friendly Countries" in the Embassy of the Republic of China, sending condolences and letters of condolence to the families of all officers and soldiers of the Republic who have died in Laos, and inviting representatives of the families of the martyrs and people from all walks of life in the Republic to participate in the "China-Laos Friendship and Mutual Assistance Friendship Association" to jointly cherish the memory of the martyrs who have made great contributions to democracy, freedom, peace and prosperity in Laos, and to promote and deepen the friendship between China and Laos.

On the afternoon of the 27th, the spokesperson of the State Council of the Republic issued a statement: The republican ** team will withdraw its troops from Laos one after another after completing the national assembly election and forming a formal government in Laos; During this period, the Republic will continue to provide defense and security for Laos, assist the Lao Interim Government in maintaining internal order, and help the Lao people rebuild their homes.

It is widely believed that the republic will be completely evacuated from Laos after the war, as was the case with the Korean War in the 50s of the last century.

However, the Republic at this time was no longer the Republic of Germany more than 60 years ago, and the Laos War was not the Korean War.

In August of that year, the Republic signed the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation with Laos. This is the second treaty with the character of a military-political alliance since the Treaty of Friendship and Mutual Assistance. Under the treaty, Laos leased military bases in Luang Prabang, Chueng Khouang, Thaqu and Pakse to the Republic for a period of 99 years; The Republic pays Laos an annual rent of 25 million yuan to be responsible for the construction and maintenance of military bases; 12 months before the expiration of the lease, if neither party objects to it, the lease will be automatically extended for 20 years; The Republic will provide all necessary support to Laos in relation to national security and defense during the period of lease of the Lao military base (i.e., during the validity period of the treaty).

At this point, the republic had its first "overseas" military bases.

By the end of that year, the Republic had deployed 2,500 ground troops (including service and engineering personnel) to military bases, and construction of air airfields began in Sichuan Khouang and Pakse. According to the plan formulated by the Republic at the end of 20199, by 2022, the Republic will deploy two fighter squadrons and two service squadrons (actually flight units equipped with electronic reconnaissance aircraft) in Sichuan and Pakse.

By leasing military bases to the Republic, Laos gets more than just 25 million yuan a year in rent.

Since the end of 20119, Laos has not only sent military personnel to the Republic to "learn from experience", but also invited the Republic to provide combat training for the army, most of which has been carried out at the Luang Prabang base. By 2022, the Republic has trained more than 2,000 veteran officers and soldiers, creating the most powerful special forces in Southeast Asia for Laos.

When the Republic handed over its defense to Laos in 2022, Laos already had a capable and strong fighting force.

Military cooperation with Laos opened the prelude to the Republic's dispatch of troops abroad.

Although the initial scale was very limited, the United States was like a man, because China's military base in Laos was not only directly aimed at the US military base in Thailand, but also broke the pattern of Southeast Asia, and had a very far-reaching impact on Southeast Asian countries, especially Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar around Laos.

As the Republic advances into Southeast Asia, the U.S. line of defense in the Western Pacific-North Indian Ocean is bound to fall apart! (To be continued)
